I once dyed my best friends hair when we were 14 and 15 years old. I should have NEVER been trusted! I totally acted like I knew what I was doing.. I, did, NOT! So anyways I missed a giant spot on the back top of her head it was awful, but it was the back so she couldn't see it like I could. 😂 I played it off and she didn't even notice for days but once she did, boy, was she mad at me! She played the long game though and got me back when we were 18 and 19. I had her help me bleach my hair and she also missed a giant spot in the FRONT of my head. We laughed so hard and are still friends to this day at 31 and 32 years old 😁

I remember I cut my best friend’s bangs for her, and for the first 15 minutes, she loved them. For the next 2 hours after that, she had a meltdown and cried and hated them and questioned what the hell she had me do. Fast forward 3 years later and she still has bangs and questions how the hell she lived without them before, lmao bang regret is real but she just needed time to adjust 😂
At first the second girl gave me "I enjoy ruining my female friends hair" vibe but I was really wrong because she really took her time with that, trying to cut them and style them really nicely.

I used to cut my daughter's bangs when she was little and afraid of the hairdresser at the salon. She was always moving around when I was trying to cut, and yes... her bangs looked very bad. She was so cute, she didn't really need hair at all.
Haha my mom always does that, I've never been to the hairdresser so my mom always cuts it, and EVERY time no matter how much I ask her to trim it just a little she chops a bunch off. So now I make sure that I don't have any events that week before I ask her.
That was my whole childhood! So thankful there is youtube now so when I cut my son's hair I had so idea what I was doing. I'm pretty sure the bad at home cut is a right of passage!

OMG, I remember cutting my friend's bangs back in the 80's when feathered bangs were in.... One side was PERFECT, the other side was JACKED. She wore a hat all that summer, but we stayed friends. Her mom was mad though. LMAO

also hot tip from a person who has had bangs for almost her entire life, use a shaver/beard trimmer to cut your bangs. way easier to get that bold, straight line and you can go in with scissors afterwards to make adjustments

Last time I went to get my hair cut I was told that no one likes fuller bangs and that I should only do whispy bangs. She then only cut the very front pieces of my bangs and told me I needed to grow out the rest... Needless to say I fixed them when I got home.

I think that be really cool, also 1 of my dance teacher’s dyes her hair often she has a like pixie cut with purple bangs and the rest of her hair black right now and she always does it her self, she is doing orange next. I've been cutting my own bangs/hair for years and the biggest tip I have for doing it at home aside from small sections, starting long, and cutting incrementally is to cut it a bit longer than you're going for, shape it up, and then wait a couple washes to see how the hair falls. This is mainly if you're cutting at least 1-2 inches, not for a trim. It'll give you some wiggle room to account for the added volume from weight removed and you'll be able to see how your texture presents itself, which matters if you tend not to style them . Then you can trim/shape in up in areas that need it.
Also, for the love of gods, please get some shears and keep them sharpened. Basic ones can be as low as $30 USD at Sally's Beaty supply and last YEARS if you take care of them. Your ends will be softer after being trimmed in comparison to other standard scissors and less likely (depending on other factors) to split.

I literally cut my friend's bangs last week, straight cross. Turned out good and she liked it 😁 (btw am not a cosmetologist nor have I cut hair professionally 😅) overall she really liked it and was happy with the result..

Everyone needs to go though a f*ck-around-and-find-out phase in their hair journey. Luckily mine was from thirteen to fifteen and I'm able to keep my hair how I like it now as an adult. Bleach it, dye it, hack out a mullet or a super steep a-line, shave your head, some things are just more fun to learn the hard way.
Listen, when I'm in extreme mental distress, the absolute first thing I do is change my hair and let me tell you, 13-15 was a TIME.

Don’t know why this reminded me of this, but I got my hair cut by a woman in my area. I have type 4 hair and went with my hair stretched and ready… this woman sprayed my hair. Needles to say it was an awful cut and haven’t had my hair cut since.

I wanted my bangs cut when I was in about 4th grade. My mom was taking too long so I tried on my own. We didn't buy school pictures that year as per my request. My family is full of people who like to roast others. My bangs were almost to the root, maybe 2 inches long or less.

…I guess I’m lucky my request was the reverse, since there wasn’t much I could try to do about it. I requested at like 6 years old could I please not have bangs (saw my hair plastered back in the mirror when getting out of a bath) and mom said fine. And then all the other moms at the dance class my friend had talked me into were annoyed with her, because the teacher insisted we all had to look identical at the concert so since I no longer had bangs and mom wasn’t going to make me get them, everyone else had to plaster theirs back with hairspray.
