I’m in Massachusetts and own and run a plumbing service business and do a mixture of time & material and flat rate jobs. Which are like water heater or water closet install and i know what it will cost to do these jobs. Also quote jobs out but the most common is t&m !!!
Thanks for the insight Rich!
A plumbing maintenance company is one of my clients, it’s a pretty rough business in terms of substantial growth.
B2B invoices are ALWAYS overdue as well.
I’ve read online in the past about plumbing companies using flat rate pricing. Basically charging a bit more than what it would cost on a time and material job and making more money then they would on a time and material job. They use a price excel sheet to price their jobs but I forget what it is called
Thanks for the info, I’ll look and see if I find anything. I find right now the market is very tight with money, I imagine this strategy might make it hard to find customers at this moment…
I appreciate the math course you made Kenny. I had my first week of basic level and the offsets and parallel offsets were very easy for me. Appreciate the help!
Really happy to hear the course has helped Denver! Kick ass in basic plumbing! Let me know how it goes!
@@Kennymolotov Did you find the theory part of basic all that difficult? I'm kind of confused on what I should be putting on cue cards to study. All I did for first week was learn how to add fixtures and size them on horizontal branches and the sanitary stack
It was definitely difficult because it was new to me. If the teacher gives you review before the test, I would focus on the topics they say will be covered…
I don't know where you are but around here the lowest quote I got to change out a tank gas water heater was $4500 using a model that is $1100 at Home Depot. That plumber said it would be about 2 hours with him and a helper. Hence, I'm thinking of changing professions.
In Canada, to be a plumber with a gas ticket takes at least 5 years. With the updated code, most of the time the vent size needs to be increased, and often a chimney liner is required. Both cost more time and parts to install.
I'll be going for my gas ticket next year. Can't wait!
That sounds like a lot in my opinion (for the area I work in at least), but it also depends on size of tank, is it commercial vs residential etc…
Are u a subcontractor?
