I am from North India and die hard fan of Lata and Asha. But after going through work of S Janki although language barrier is there but I have respect for SJanki. Her down to earth human nature besides a great voice.

Usha's language skill is excellent and how she brings the audience in and gets them to participate is absolutely adorable, perhaps it is her nightclub experience that comes into play here.

Janaki, Lata, Rafiji, Kishore, Jesudas, SPB... and Sridevi's time 80s.. also. .Michal Jackson started hits...in the west...... How gracious time to live...so many legends being born in India ... Being Multilingual is the way to go.. Usha Uthup... also gave us different western start.... thank you too... I was never in to music... but not any more...

I must say a few words about Janaki Amma. I'm a Maharashtrian, and Amma hasn't rendered too much of her voice in Hindi. But my brother-in-law, again a Marathi, who did his engineering in the South often heard Amma from a huge collection. I used to wonder who is S Janaki, and my brother made me listen to her songs one day and explained what Janaki Amma meant to him. She was almost a mother to him, as he told, the tree that bears largest amount of fruits, always bows towards ground. Something I always look out for whenever I see this fine lady. Love you Amma
We should, of course, thank Ilayaraja Sir for his contributions to the music world of Janakiyamma, but the same was after more than 15 years of her glorious career. How to forget M.S. Baburaj of Malayalam, whose innumerable melodies helped Janakiyamma to have a upper edge on Susheelamma in Malayalam . Same is the case with G.K. Venkatesh, who helped her to remain number 1 in Kannada always. It was with his association with GKV, that Rajasir came in contact with the amazing potential of Janakiyamma. Should remember Dakshinamoorthi Swami of Malayalam and Vijayabhaskar of Kannada also, before her evergreen tie-up with Raja Sir.
