Let me give you a suggestion. When ordering food in China, first ask the waiter whether the food is spicy or not, and then choose different spiciness levels according to your own preferences, because the spiciness of food in many areas of China is unacceptable to Westerners. Maybe there are many foods from different regions in a city, and people who don't understand Chinese may not know whether the food in the store is spicy or not.

When you come to Beijing, you must try Beijing roast duck, copper pot shabu-shabu, and Belle Barbecue. Don’t try Beijing bean juice. You don’t even dare to drink it locally. For other dishes, you can go to restaurants and order Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, etc. These are sweet and sour dishes to suit your tastes,

I find often times westerners only seem to know the carb dishes in China, like noodles, dumplings and bao buns. Yes, they are good traditional Chinese food and comes in different variations, but the most delicious Chinese food actually lies in the large variety of stir fried, pan fried, braised, roasted and steamed dishes that go along with the carbs. You thought Chinese don’t eat that much chicken? You just couldn’t imagine how many chicken dishes we have (Kung Pao chicken, Shandong Huangmen braised chicken, Sichuan spicy chicken, crispy fried chicken, Coconut chicken hotpot, Guangdong soy sauce chicken, ginger chicken, Three Cup Chicken, Xinjiang Big Plate Chicken etc. they all taste different), so not just beef and pork, but also mutton, duck, goose. 90% of the touristy areas (especially the neon lights food courts on those famous pedestrian streets) are just “snacks” or trash food that you can find in every touristy place in China and do not even represent 5% of what the Chinese normally eat in their daily lives, let alone represent the typical food for the province/city. I suggest that you explore more local restaurants like the last one you had; no need to be fancy big restaurants, the small ones on the streets or in shopping malls will do the job.
Famous Beijing cuisines to name a few: Peking duck, Jianbing (a type of Pancake); Beijing fried sauce/bean paste noodles, mutton hotpot, Tofu pudding, brown sugar fritters.

Do you know why there are tens of thousands of types of food in China? Because everyone has different tastes, there is no need to force a certain type of food. Chinese cuisine is free, and if you like it, you just like it. If you don't like it, you can simply say it.Moreover, the high-end cuisine in real China is not cheap. Each of the eight major Chinese cuisines offers hundreds of dishes, and street snacks are not included.

Welcome to Shanghai, China. The prices in Shanghai are relatively high. The Stinky tofu in your last show was good, but not bad. In fact, I also recommend you go to Guangzhou and Foshan, where you can experience the Cantonese morning tea culture and watch the lion dance. The consumption there is relatively cheaper, and the people there are more hospitable. I am currently in Hangzhou, the city next to Shanghai, and I will be returning to Foshan soon. If there is a chance to come to Guangzhou, I am willing to take you to play there. Also, as a blogger, can I add you as a Twitter friend? I would like to exchange ideas about German culture with you.

Love you guys, you are so funny. By the way, the best chinese food is served in big restaurant with round tables for 10 people, with a whole set of 18 dishes or so. And normally we only eat them when there's an company event or something. it's hard for you two to reach to this scale of one meal. There are a lot of high end chinese restaurant in shanghai, along the bond. They are expensive (~500rmb each person) but even we chinese are shocked by how delicious and creative the food they can make, and foreigners friendly.

Hi, bros, I noticed that you are eating snacks now, not daily Chinese meals. You can go to restaurants, where there are meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, etc., and fried, stewed, baked, steamed and cooked in different ways, and usually staples such as rice and noodles are not pre-mixed with dishes. Now most Chinese restaurants have pictures or physical samples to show what dishes they have, so you can find a richer and more delicious Chinese food. This is the real essence of Chinese food.

First of all, this is not an authentic Xiaolongbao in Shanghai. It's a pity that you can't find a traditional local Xiaolongbao, which is located by the Yu Garden Lake, Nanxiang Xiaolongbao. You're eating soup buns, and you're eating them the wrong way. You can't swallow them in one gulp. Take a little bite and blow on the inside and then suck on the juice and slowly take a bite.
