As a child, I had my hair cut at Arthur Matthews barbers shop in Snow Hill, which adjoined Goodwins newsagents. Arthur was the spitting image of his famous brother Stanley Matthews.
I'm from Shelton originally and had my hair cut by Stan's brother too as a kid. The old Bell and Bear has stood derelict for years now. The demographics have changed a lot as well in Shelton.
I spent my first 17 years in Stoke on Trent--and feel I hardly knew it. Longton to Hanley were my boundaries. When I watch posts like this on YT--I'm in uncharted territory. But still appreciative--I think I saw the Shelton blast from Longton as a child--my overriding memories were smoke and misery--together with lovely, friendly people.
Spent last 12 years living on remote Orcadian island. Already homesick for industrial vista, this takes me back to my formative years in North Staffordshire. Would happily start work at Silverdale or Hem Heath again.
I quite like Eturia it is ideally located for Hanley town centre and Festival Park and it also near Newcastle town centre. And has the canal which is a great route to walk or cycle along to travel through the city. I haven't lived in the area for decades now but still affectionately remember Etruria.

bornand bred,no better place
Etruria. It has a nice name.
True, but an utter misnomer.
Etruria creeps me out every time i walk through there. It feels cold and damp with a icy feel in the air. Something does not feel quite right.

I know what you mean... I feel a cold, bleak undertone to the place even though it's got some nice surroundings on the surface.
