I used to do OU Summer School tutoring on a module called ‘The Fight For Shelton Bar’ (D102). The students were wonderful. We used some of this footage and data.
What a wonderful piece of film,proud men who stood up for what they believed in,to defend their jobs and livelihoods,I take my hat off to these gentlemen,who had the guts to take the management on,and fight for what they believed to be right, Such a pity we haven't got trade union leadership like this nowadays.
Trade union leaders simply don't have the chance to show leadership that has an impact today though, given all of Thatcher's anti-trade union laws. So it is hardly a fair comparison, then and now!

I am so proud that my grandad fought for his and his work colleagues jobs sadly passed away on 1 July 2020 r.i.p
So wonderful to see my dad in his younger years, who sadly passed away on the 1st july 2020
