  • Life as a commercial crab fisherman in the Bering Sea is a wild one. We spent some time with the Silver Spray, a 116-ft crabbing boat based in Kodiak, Alaska, and got to hear their story. Working in some of the most adverse weather and environmental conditions nature has to offer, putting in 18-hour days filled with rigorous manual labor, and putting your life in the hands of your fellow crew makes for quite the intense scene. But someone has to do this work, and this crew represents a uniquely inspiring group of individuals who commit themselves to the life of a commercial fisherman.

Silver Spray was the boat that unfortunately found the Destination. They found a coil of rope, an EPIRB, and a lifering which clearly said "FV Destination SeaTac" all of this pointed to that the boat went down and Destination was gone. Silver Spray had to go back to SeaTac and tell their families that they were gone.

Neither both aren't made for real work they fall apart after a few hours of work and are to think to keep warm in they aren't worth the price they charge for them if they were under 100 for a set mabye but if you really want to work in them don't it's a waste

Boat has a very strange design. Not a big fan of that a-frame setup on the house

@@sontungle2641 The boats you mention have a typical Bering Sea crabber mast system from the mid-70's which exists to provide a mounting point for required navigation lights, antennas and the big sodium lights. The Silver Spray has a massive "A" frame usually used on purpose built trawlers or some oil field supply boats. It also has a stern engine room which is very unusual for a purpose built crabber.
