CanaryFly GO AROUND, The worst landing seen at Lanzarote Airport ❓❓❓

- Hi aviators 🛩️,
This video was taken by our live webcam from the Lanzarote Airport this morning 07/11/2023 at 12:51.
Looks like this ATR aircraft of CanaryFly from Gran Canaria (LPA) had problems with the wind and did a late touch.
The pilot tried to land it till 4 times, but finally the operation was cancelled.
Probably we have seen the worst landing operation at Lanzarote Airport.

Yikes. That must have been quite the unpleasant experience for the passengers.
Actually quite impressed that touch 4 was so light, looked like it was heading for the scrapyard at that point.
I bet the Tower Controller was reaching for the crash alarm button...
Wow that was dangerous.
I was at the start of the runway today watching the aircraft come and go and it was very very windy.
Brown trouser time and a big laundry bill for the passengers there!
It's a short runway for an international airport, in general you need to hit that touchdown zone first time. Looks like they struggled with the landing and go around was initiated at a moment when windsheer hit at an already low speed (not a good combo), hence that final near slap on the runway before a successful climb out. A case of unlucky timing and persisting with a landing which should have been aborted sooner. Great footage and I'm thinking it would make a good training video.
It is quite a short runway, but if TUI’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner can handle it, it should be easy work for an ATR.
It’s not that short a runway. But, Lanzarote recently changed the runway and added a short displaced threshold to the start of runway 03. This resulted in a slightly shorter landing distance (due to the added displaced threshold) than in previous years. Because the landing distance is now slightly shorter, ICAO runway marking standards only require one touch down zone marking after the aim point compared to the three required when the landing distance was slightly longer (LDA> 2400m pre displaced threshold). This now results in a shorter touch down zone than before and is a worthwhile threat when briefing the approach. Our SOPs (Jets) dictate we MUST land within the touch down zone and it’s now slightly harder than before (less room for error or floating). If the landing isn’t made within the touch down zone, a go around must be performed. This will likely be flown as a balked landing by the Captain.
Obviously the airline in this video doesn’t have the same SOPs but to be fair an ATR can stop in a very short distance so that particular SOP probably isn’t necessary in this example.
Thank you for your contribution and detailed explanation !
@@scottmurphy4278an ATR could land on the dusty ground next to the runway but after that many bounces you need to go around if only to check wether the gear is still intact
i cant believe anyone are defending the pilots. Difficult landing or not it was already bad after 2 bounces; trying to land it AGAIN and basically stalling the plane to do so after the third bounce is legitimately shocking.
Certain, it was an incompressible operation !
when I landed in Brazil, it was rainy and windy and he only did this thing once, not multiple times, and just a few feet. One touch. And I felt like throwing up. Imagine experiencing that 4 times and worse lol. Id never fly again.
Thank you for telling us your experience on the other side of the Atlantic ! 😉
Stunning capture! May I feature this go around in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
Credit is not payment. You make money on your videos, and you need to start paying the original creators.
@@hepphepps8356 once it has been uploaded to CZcams then it is in the public domain, the same as you posting a photo on Facebook, anyone can use it if you've set it to public. With fair use, the channel asking can use it while giving review/commentary/criticism over the top and doesn't even need to mention the channel they got it from, let alone give credit, so I think it's nice that @3MinutesofAviation even asked
@@RoamingIRaccoon correct, however to include in one of his videos I'm guessing it would come under fair usage for critique, review etc, like many review of videos videos etc
@@daz222no. This is absolutely not correct at all.
Was the fourth touch, result of a stall? The poor nose gear...
why did they try again right at the end? stupid idea
Typical example of a plane running on kangaroo fuel. Very normal.
😮wow 😊
A magnaminous and historical commen! You will be hailed and remembered!
😱😰
A few drinks spilt, me thinks!
Windsheer, sudden tail wind that means lift virtually goes away. Near water etc. A bad landing actually might be a really good pilot and don't forget the old adage, *_"any landing is a good landing."_* As long as you can walk away from it.
Yes, the better new is that we had a happy end in the second attempt. 👏
That looked fun lol
Yes, at the same price 😉
Yeah fun! You outstanding comic!
Yeah didn’t look good at all ! Reminds me of that deadly Aeroflot Superjet crash in Moscow a few years back bouncing along !!!
Un chivi el piloto
I reckon I could have landed that and I have no pilot's licence I just fly model airrcaft.
Hope noone was in the head
Unfortunately for the pilot, he or she can be identified by noting the date and flight number…. Here’s hoping it is done better next time by the person.
This is unsafe by any means even though looks hilarious
I would say fortunately, this may need looking at and questions asked. The public won't know who they were unless it's released, but why is it unfortunate that they can find out who was flying the plane in that manner? You say yourself that this is unsafe, I think it needs to be looked into :/
What in the world is with the annoying music, must that really be?
Agreed!
It's easy, mute the video 💁🏻♂️
Boing, boing, boing!
Du saute mouton sur une ligne discontinue c'est pas banal🥵
😅
WTF
That looked like a very inexperienced FO attempting a windy landing and the Captain taking over. Was definitely going to land long and should have gone around at that point.
