  • The Kymco scooter needed a bit of attention so I perform a valve adjustment and also change the fuel filter.

    Nice Tom! I hate adjusting valves ! Both fuel and electrical gremlins can be a pain in the butt ! Love your Top Gun Pilot Helmet ! Don’t leave your wingman Maverick !

    Those scooters are fast. I witnessed a Harley following that specific scooter.

      Tom's Tinkering and Adventures climate change. San Diego isn’t made for 60° weather. Looks like the people in Cali is going to freeze soon. 🥶

      I wouldn't Suggest Adjusting the idle on a Cold Engine . You suppose to wait until the Engine is at Normal Operating Temp. then Adjust you Idle screw. Usually its around 1500rpm for most Motorcycles, & Scooters.
      By the way, i really Enjoy your content. I Myself Own a 2016 Kymco People GTi 300 Since New, really Enjoy it.

      My French isn’t great, but I think you want to know how to start a Kymco 200? I’m not familiar with that model scooter, sorry.

    when is your city gonna repave your street? And I see your deck (pile of firewood) is still standing.

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Před 4 lety +2

      Alan sterling we only pay the highest gas taxes in the nation, surely can’t expect good streets when the funds get diverted to other things. If you worried about your health as much as you worry about my deck, you would be Mr Olympia. 😂

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Před 2 lety +1

      No idea, I don’t have a manual for that scooter. Look on the frame and bodywork, sometimes that information is on a sticker.

    Does it matter if you turn the flywheel clockwise or counterclockwise to line up the “T”

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Před 2 lety +1

      You’re supposed to turn it in the regular rotation the engine runs in. Unfortunately I can’t remember, but if you touch the starter button you can observe which direction it turns.

      @@TomsTinkeringandAdventures you turn clockwise

    Hi Tom, thanks for the primer on valves. I have a 2005 People 250 (same engine) that I'm very attached to. I've just encountered a problem I thought you might be familiar with: Starts immediately, runs fast on the choke, idles down, hiccups and stalls. I've adjusted the idle and throttle stop screws for a bit higher idle but I can still hear and feel the hiccups at lower rpms and there can be a bit of throttle delay on take off. I planned to clean the carb next. Any ideas?

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Před 4 lety

      It sounds like carburetor issues to me. Check that fuel filter as well! The People 250 is a good scooter, I like the bigger wheels.

    • @timothyhohn3971
      @timothyhohn3971 Před 4 lety

      Thanks Tom. Fuel filter next, then cleaning the carb. Kymco doesn't make any large wheeled scooters any more; disappointing!

      azdesertdog Kymco is from Taiwan, supposed to be a bit better quality than Chinese scoots. I’m pleased with it, hadn’t planned to keep it but it’s darn fun. You’re the second person that has had contact issues. Will be in touch.
