@@pokeydokey8226 Alan Davies has suffered a very traumatic childhood in particular due to his dad. It's often both a fear and a destiny for victims to reproduce the patterns that led to the abuse, and for the abused to become the abuser. Alan has children, and to be validated as a great dad must be very comforting for him.

@@ambergris5705How did you find out about his childhood? I've only ever seen him on things like Jonathan Creek, QI etc. All light hearted stuff.

Ah, the WOW monster. One of the finest moments in the history of television
If I know I need to laugh at any point, I can come and watch that moment and it will happen
The highlight of the live noise task is of course Alan's wow monster, but Morgana's reactions throughout that task are a sight to behold.
I love the shot composition as well of seeingntenperson make the noise seeing her react in the background.
I like the look that Alex gave guz when he did his noise in one of those rounds. The look of incredulosity was just awesome.

I've watched the Alan-Guz monster duo so many times... The noises, the surprised faces, the figures simultaneously folding in half in background and Greg's hiss and sobbing... Perfection.

Alan's impression of Victoria is spot on. And the fact Victoria didn't click it was her is even better.

The wow monster is my favourite Taskmaster moment. So completely unexpected hearing that sound from that man, especially given his history with prior tasks.
I think the people involved in the editing of the task montages deserve the praise for playing that sad violin note when Alan was holding the googly eyes 😂

Not sure what big "scary" monsters are under Alan's bed, but I'd love to meet them 😂
If you suddenly heard a WOW coming from under your bed in the middle of the night, I think it would count as scary.

I don't know why, but I can't get enough of Greg's old man jokes. Alan Davies, Richard Herring, etc... Greg really overdoes them and I laugh every single time 🤣
The very first task featured the line "There's a lot of ageist jokes about Frank Skinner being the oldest member of the panel", very fitting
Any man who’s even so much as a day older than him gets called ‘grandad’ and talked of as if he’s about 80. 😂
This was without a doubt the best season of TM.

Ah yes, the Wow monster, probably the best live task yet if not the drawing on backs one. What made it better was that nobody gave it away after Greg guessed, which is why it didn't work so well when they tried a similar thing in series 6 because Russell Howard kept shouting in anger
series 12 is my absolute fav, the alan & victoria duo is golden! alan davies is a living legend
I found it strangely delightful when Victoria admitted she had never learned to ride a bike and has to quickly try to learn for the obstacle course task. I don't know why but I found that really adorable, just the Joy on her face as she's learning to ride suddenly.
@@nybbleme Extra relatable for me because I only learned to ride a bike when I was... twelve I think? I had done it before as a child for a moment, but I generally don't like the feeling of not having solid ground to step on, so I did not follow up on that childhood learning experience until much later. And then kind of had the same sort of "eureka!" moment that Victoria had as a grown woman on camera.
Obviously the WOW monster is the main highlight here but it has to be said that Alex's reactions was equally as funny as he doesn't break character often :D
The reactions in the sound guessing challenge are what make it extra funny 🤣

Sitting here, a little while after breaking my rib. I saw this video pop on, and figured it'd be the perfect re-introduction to slight laughter. As I really can't bare full laughter yet.
But this is just too painful.
Try using your face muscles more intensive when laughing instead of the inbetween rib or stomach ones . That's my experience.
Is it just me, or does Alan remind you James May a bit. The hair, his mannerisms, the way he talks.🧓

I really like the theme tunes used in this season, I wish they were uploaded seperately somewhere.
What a legend. Playing the clueless jester most of the time, but whenever something the production team came up with was especially witty or absurd, he'd break character, only for a short honest laugh of admiration, as if to say „well done!”
Funny thing is, I didn't even think of it as breaking character, and those moments of his genuine delight were a big part of the reason I loved him on this season so much.
Wow monster is undefeated. Watched it at least 20 times still funny as hell.

Alan was one of my favourites on his season, but quite honestly that's not saying much because I think it was my favourite season. :D But I loved his relaxed approach to everything; 2021 had been a terribly stressful year and Taskmaster was a joy that helped keep me sane; and Alan Davies definitely helped there.

loved him in this series, i'm mostly used to him on qi so this was a great change of pace, he was great with victoria as well

Alan was royally screwed in the welly task, there was nothing about seeing Alan standing in the bath, just whatever the welly films!
That was totally the TV show editors fault since that wasn't a clip that was part of his. They should have only revealed that after the fact because that did kind of spoil it. Quite a few of these British comedian types seem like they would be absolutely delightful to hang out and have a pint with. Alan davies, katherine ryan (yeah I know she's Canadian) Sandy toksvig, rhod Gilbert, and Bill Bailey are always just such a delight to watch.
Couldn't agree more!! His was in fact the only one that qualified, everyone else just made a film, whether the camera was on their wellies was irrelevant, might as well have been hand-held!

The task just said "you must reach into the barrel to find the subject of your jingle" it didn't say it had to be the first one u pulled out. Tho "a balloon" somewhat implys singular, also just realised it didn't specify it had to be in the barrel before the task started could of written it down or shoved you head in and chosen whatever

That was definitely one of my favorite big fat quiz episodes. Greg Davies into madness has he tries to resist the urge to put bad dong in as an answer. Him saying he regrets the entire thing and Richard ayoade just deadpan saying "I regret nothing"
