      with his vast intellect and smug posh hubritical posture you can tell he is living out his evil mastermind fantasies where the elves are an elite team sent to stop him.
      what we don't see is all the times he spins around in his chair petting something and glaring menacingly.

      Unless you can get some of the old pros like Bill Bailey, David Mitchell & Co. on as guests, he’s really the only reason to keep watching now. The newer generation of British comics just aren’t as naturally funny.

    • @andrew7taylor
      @andrew7taylor Před 5 lety +27

      @@michaeldukes4108 - They weren't "naturally funny" either. If you see a performance by Bill in the 90s, he was very awkward and more painful than funny. Like any craft, it takes practice, a lot of practice to get it right. It's the same for the people growing up to be comedians nowadays.

    • @internationalrtg5602
      @internationalrtg5602 Před 3 lety +4

      @@michaeldukes4108 It’s because Sandi insists on having at least two female guests on every programme, and none of them are ever funny. Not to mention that offensive humour is basically barred from the BBC now. I’m no right winger, but this PC bs is ruining comedy.

    • @fredhasopinions
      @fredhasopinions Před 3 lety +5

      @@michaeldukes4108 not sure about that, there's a bunch of (somewhat) younger comedians like ed gamble that i find pretty funny at times, and I'm sure the younger generation is going to keep growing into their own styles. a lot of them are going to feel like old pros by the time they're 55 or so.

It is said that Alan does no preparation but that cannot be so: someone like that is going to be integral to a television production in the days leading up to the shoot, and television production is not an easy thing to do. I live in New Zealand and have never seen that caterpillar or heard of it. I think that the elves need to check where they get their information from - just a thought

      Just seen this clip and your question. Typical Aussie, it immigrated here & can be found in northern parts of the North Island though not common.

      I was born and raised in Australia and I've never seen a kangaroo or a koala. Although, I've heard that others have!

    I wish someone made the joke in the mad hatterpillar bit where on a date it would go, "and here's what i looked like when i was 5, here's what i looked like in college..."

    I feel like if I didn't think this was completely hilarious, I would think it was the dumbest, most pointless series of impressions I had ever seen. There is no in-between.

      Well since this Canadian was introduced to British comedy by a bf when I was in Grade 12 in 1992, I have discovered that there are many people who just aren’t intelligent enough to “get” British comedy, most of them have been Americans actually, but then there are also others, like me, who generally like it all, but I will have some bad days where it doesn’t seem funny, but I’ll watch it at a different time & it is funny again. BUT there are just some things that are just too stooooooopid to watch, can’t think of any BRITISH things at the moment, but most American AND ESP Canadian comedians SUCK, but for the most part, British things ARE funny but sometimes I’m just not in the right headspace to think it is EXCEPT [and I didn’t even realize the connection until AFTER I wrote it] but I am ALWAYS in the right headspace to watch Ross Noble and he is 1 of only 3 comedians that have the power to make my belly hurt & make tears stream down my face!! SO MANY American comics, esp those of the darker complexion, would not have an act if they removed all the swears & the fact that it is now ok for them to use “nigga” or “nigger” every sentence and it just ISNT funny!! I don’t mind swearing at all, but the good comedians use the words in a funny way, not in a shock or repetitive way! All I do is watch British tv and panel shows on my iPad cuz it is FAR superior to anything on tv that isn’t on BBC America!! Sorry for the rant - needed said!!
