Babushka. That’s what we used to call a scarf that we were around our head in America years ago.
Yesterday i watched the video regarding how middle class Americans slipping to poverty and becoming homeless and sleeping in cars basement, parks etc. It is a land of opportunity and big American dreams. It is really painful. We always think otherside of mountain is greener pasture. But in reality it is not.
I love how she's proud of her cow. It's humble and wholesome.

The village life is the best life a person can enjoy, it's exactly what I grew up in Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪-East Africa, the happiness and the satisfaction displayed in the grandma's face is amazing, peace of mind away from the hustle and bustle of the urban life would be a wish for each and every sane individual. Wishing Peace and protection to all Ukrainians

One of the most honest videos I've yet seen. The scenes took me right back to my childhood days, on the outskirts of a small town in early 1950s Arkansas. Truly, I could tell scant difference between Ukraine and my immediate neighborhood surroundings as a child. What a wonderful journey for an old man! Thanks a million!
This is no different than my childhood days at my Grandparents house in the 50s when times were so simple, because I was a child.
It’s a nice life. I lived on 80 acres here in texas, we had goats and sheep, all the birds too, so many eggs!.
Yep its like 1945 Engla d. Where i grew up.ouside toilet toilet, newspaper and cesspit; oit and gas lighting in living roon; hi kens, rabbits in the yard, washing tubb with woodfire heating. Hand ranked laundry squeezer, dry on line, iron on table in living room, battery powered radio, ....yep, we had it all!!.

I am 2nd generation Ukrainian, who will be finally leaving my NYC home of 30+ years to live in Arkansas, where I have visited multiple times and fell in love with the place; it reminded me a bit of the Adirondacks, where I spent a ton of time as a kid. I wonder if my father, who never visited Ukraine, felt something reminiscent of Ukraine even though he has never been there. Wondering which part of Arkansas you grew up in?

Thank you for sharing! Your grandma seems very active and proud of her home. There is something very dignified about growing your own food and tending to your own livestock. I'm sure it keeps both of them lively and happy.
This took me back to my childhood in the Carribbean. How I wish life was simple again, thank you for the wonderful memories. Beautiful village cherish it.

This was pretty much life at my grandma's house back in the early 1960s. That was a trip back in time for me...very cool.

I showed it to my 98 year old Grandpa he said it was exactly how his mother described life in Rural Oxfordshire in 1910
Some people still live like this In the us I've met a few, we call it off grid but some people live like this in the southern appalachians, especially the Amish community.

Indian here, I can very closely relate to this kind of living. A huge part of our population is rural. This video was beautiful. Away from all the materialistic trash of the 'modern world'.
Materialistic trash? Like devices used to post comments on the internet? Devices to record yourself? I also noticed a dish connected to the house...
I suppose if you *have* to defecate in the open...you'd rationalize a way for it to be superior to 'modern' plumbing but...it just sounds like someone trying to avoid reality...to me.

There's always a few hours drive to a remote half acre to call your own. It's even better if you've got no cell service, a little water, lots of sun and silent nights. Peace, calm and shelter.
But we think we are 'poor', go abroad, only to realise we may have more money, but our Joy is gone...

Thought Ukraine is getting all the young men to enlist and fight. Or are they just taking the aid money to pay off debt repayments? Clearly he should be enlisted or he is exempt due to farming connections. Just like creative accounting, you can become creative farming too. Good one.

This made me remind me of my grandmother Amelia. She lived with us in our home until she passed away in the early 90's. Nowadays most of our elderly are put in nursing homes, were they exist, until they the day they're gone.
I remember when our elderly we're respected and appreciated, welcomed into our lives, given active roles in our education and development into our teen years and beyond. They were our direct link into our family pass, a source of valuable information, wisdom and unconditional love and patience.
I was still very young when my sweet grandma Amélia left us, but I really appreciate and am extremely grateful for been given that opportunity to know her and having her in those early years of my life. I still miss her 30 years pass. 💗👵
Respect your elderly and appreciate every opportunity you get to be with them! Listen to them, be there for them, learn from them and most of all respect them and their legacy! Time goes by really fast and relentlessly.

Both of my parents moved in with me during their final days! No nursing home for them! My mom just passed away on December 5. I’ll see her in heaven some day.
It reminds of village life from the time I spent in my mother's village in Lebanon. Was a total reset for me (and that's a good thing!) . God bless and protect the people of Ukraine.

I was lucky enough to visit Ireland back in the late 90s. I did not want to leave your beautiful country... (once I got used to driving on the left side of the road of course.) I was staying with old college friends who live in Ennis. Absolutely beautiful, beautiful land and people. ☘
My family lived in Co. Roscommon. In the 1960's there was no mains water, toilet, gas or electricity in the house. The well was half a mile away & only the kitchen had heat, provided by a turf burning Stanley range. If I thought that was tough, our elderly neighbour lived in a small house like something from the middle ages.
I was unlucky enough to live in Ireland for a year or so. What a dump.
So peaceful, reminds me of my childhood in India. Then, I moved to a lifestyle where I am in a rat race everyday. God bless you all.

Hi Pavel ( hope I got that right) , excellent video and shows rural life in Ukraine. I sincere hope you, your babushka and the rest of your family are OK and safe from the war. You all seem to be a lovely, genuine and warm family. My grandparents lived the same sort of lifestyle here in rural South Australia - I am unfortunately a city dweller by necessity but fondly remember trips to my grandparents out in the country. Please ignore the rude and dumb comments from some people below. Your video brought back memories of those visits as a child.

Brings tears to my eyes as this reminds me of my childhood living in a village. Rearing livestocks, harvesting crops, kids were playing, birds were chirping. Ah! What a lovely life we had back then! But one day, all of a sudden, everything changed when a dragon attacked and burnt down the whole village.

I understand the perspective and yes, in some aspects, this life is better than American city life. But, lets not get carried away. This is a hard life - these people have suffered enormously under communism - ironically an ideology popular among some American city dwellers that wear black masks.

We had a family from Ukraine that were members of our church living in US for a few years. After the birth of their second child, they moved back to Kiev. The wife was stunningly beautiful.

Love Ukraine!! I was visiting Kharkov in 2010 and loved the people. So friendly and hospitable.
It brought a smile to my face seeing how proud the Babushka was of her cow, of the large onions she grew and of the simple necessities she has gotten to improve her life. She's living simply but with pride!

I was in the former USSR, from Australia in 1990 on a Contiki Tour out of England. We travelled for some 13 days of 22 through the then Soviet Union. One thing that especially stood out to me was the countryside & the actual humble people we met. Yes we did visit the now Ukraine such Kiev, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Lutsk & everywhere in between, which was a highlight of my several months overseas. I have been back to Kiev & Odessa twice since then. The last time was in 2011. I loved the Ukraine then as I do now. Beautiful country with beautiful people. We’re not so different regardless of where we live.

True believers are those who are not only hearers but doers of the Word. "If you abide in My Word, you are my disciples indeed". We are not to kill or even defend ourselves with violence (Jesus said turn the other check. If we are saved, physical death is not to be feared.) Also Catholicism or orthodox Christianity is not biblical. True faith is not religion, it's being born again and having a relationship with God through His Holy Spirit.
Ukraine should stop the racism as well.
