Played this song for my wife and she couldn’t believe this was a metal song. I said this is what I love about people that LOVE music is they can take song that people would never listen to because of a “genre” and “reinvent it” and open people’s eyes to a great song that they might not be open to listening to before. Can´t understand the hatred of some folks. I am a die-hard metalhead since I can think, been to hard and heavy concerts for almost two decades and will do so in the next decades to come - still renditions like these are amazing: They are honouring not only the legendary Iron Maiden but also music as such. Because music is supposed to make this weird and twisted world we share a little better.

This really speaks to me reflecting on my life since listening to the original on cassette at school. Finding this after 30 odd years as an alcoholic searching for those wasted years. In recovery now and I find this gem of a version. We never really get it till we get it do we?

Such a majestic rendition - such a great song. Maiden will be studied like Bach and Beethoven 400 years from now.
I'll never hear this song again in the same way as I once did. The words were already deep. Turning this acoustic added to it and made it ethereal.

This honestly conveyed the spirit of the lyrics much more profoundly than Iron Maiden's way of performing it. It shakes ones emotional core. It sounds like a good father's good advice, set to good music.

Ive checked out so many of the acoustic covers of this song on youtube. There are other good interpretations out there. But i think this is the only one that accurately expresses the true meaning of the words

Profound to the one who hears and the one who can see, the power of a word combined together to create a message, it's only wasted years depending on how deep you want to travel back with yourself through ones vision, if you travel back 1million years ago would it be wasted years if you could do it within a second of a decimal of time?? What is time?? It's the distance between you and I, which is space, so not wasted years wasted space is what we are really talking about if you dive deeper to within ones Spirit., I appreciate this song.
This version is marvelous and Wasted years is one of the best songs by Iron Maiden that can be performed acoustically in a way that it adds something that the original recorded version is missing.

I used this version for my 22 year old son's memorial video at his wake today. He was an Iron Maiden fan from his early childhood thanks to his dad. The music fits perfectly.

I´ve listened to acoustic covers of Wasted Years (like the one that Ryan Adams did long ago) but you can tell Ian knows and respect the original, because he didn´t change the vocal melody so much as the others did and he also sings it with passion, beautifully. Congrats for this awesome rendition of one of my favourite Maiden tracks!

I am a crazy crazy DIE-HARD fan of Maiden and have had the absolute honour of covering many of their songs in my career and have had the absolute pleasure of watching Iron maiden LIVE on no less than 4 occassions.That said, I have yet to hear a rendition of one of Maiden's biggest songs done in such a soulful and honest way. Great songs are great songs regardless how they're played but Ian's voice and approach to the song and the music is insanely good, heartfelt and gives the song a deeper meaning than I've realised it had in all the many many years I've been listening to this song. Nod to Adrian Smith who is one of the great all-time song writers

This song really hits home with me 20 some years ago I lost my memory from a virus I was s 38 years old I believe I even thought I was married to my ex husband but tgg he and god we get along great we have 2 children I thought we’re still little but I was a police officer, firefighter, owned a floral shop, ran a search and rescue team and worked for an attorney and all I remembered was being on the police department which I had already left but ya just like the movie 50 First Dates I was engaged at the time but didn’t remember him at all and I thought I was a lot younger ya wishful thinking lol but wow this absolutely beautiful song I can’t stop listening to it so thank you for such a beautiful song ❤
