I think the baby weight thing is just a holdover from when infant mortality rates were so high. A healthy weight was an indicator that the baby was more likely to survive.

The tea towel of Balloch always makes me laugh cos that's where I'm from 😂 Scampi is battered langoustine. I'm not a seafood fan, but it's pretty tasty! Best scampi I ever had was in Mallaig. The weight thing is a health thing. If the baby's a healthy weight it usually means everything went okay. It's also good to know if you're buying baby clothes - no point buying newborn size if the baby's huge! Arran is pronounced just like the name Aaron. The main place on the island is Brodick, but Lochranza is my favourite - there's a herd of wild deer that live on the Golf Course right in the middle of the village. The regular service bus on Arran does a full circuit of the island so the whole place is easily explored. If you're really adventurous you can walk around Arran, but it'll take a full week! I did about half of it many years ago!
Lucozade of old was indeed designed to help sick. It was then rebranded as a sports/energy drink.

This tv show is really hard to watch at times. I half loved my time living in Italy but half hated it as when we facetimed I saw my parents looking older and my nephews looking older.. time felt like it was rushing by!!!!!! 😢 Now I'm back in the UK I long for Italy but atleast I have my family back. I felt like I was grieving them when they were actually alive! just somewhere else!!! It was so hard. Time is the most valuable currency. ❤️

Scampi is different in the US. Shrimp and linguine cooked in garlic and butter and dusted with Parmesan cheese. I add a touch of lemon juice and green onion
mum used to warm lucuzade in a pot and add salt, minerals sugar and salt cause you couldnt eat, loads of water also/ salt sugar glucose water and paracetamol to bring down temperature

My old da is 87 and my wee ma is 83, they've got a busier social life than I do, never stops. But I do see them once a month, it's important as you say.
In 2022 my 78-year-old dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was diagnosed in A&E, having felt incredibly unwell but unable to get a face-to-face appointment with a GP since the pandemic. They discharged him the same day and told him to take some paracetamol. He died nine days later.
It’s great your folks are still so fit and active and that you visit them regularly; quite right. Cherish them.

I've been in Navid's shop as well. I had 2 unrelated late friends who lived in 2 of the 4 tower blocks at that row of shops, in Townhead,so was there quite often at the time.

I live 80 miles apart from my wife. I moved back home to help Dad look after Mum. When we lost Mum, I stayed to take care of Dad. It's not ideal, but it's a no brainer. Family is everything. We'll have the rest of our lives together. but Dad won't be around forever sadly. It works for us.

I was 2lb as a baby and my Twin sister was 1.5lbs, in 1980, and I think it was quite important to let family and friends know this, and you're right, if the baby is of healthy weight, just say that. Lol. ❤

2 reasons ppl care how much a baby weighs
1. They don't always survive - sad but true.

The weight of a baby is more for the women it's to say how healthy the baby is and how painful it would have been to deliver like a 5lb baby will be easy to have than a 9lb baby
The record birth weight is 22lb! Born at home in 1879. I can even _imagine_ what that poor mother endured. Even worse, the baby died at just 11 hours old. 😔
