Sorry, but I just love that old chap on the right. "Shower" "Shaahhh"
flaaaah paaaaaah :))))
Faaaaahhh Haaaahh Acquaaaaahhh
Yeah. Enoyed "Empaa" aswell.
Does anyone know this chap's name?
"I don't need shower." as you wholeheartedly say to your friend
The British Empire will once again acquire the United States LOL
LOL
laughed hard at that one
PopTartNeko please do. please.
Make America Great Britain again!
So they can no longer celebrate their happy treason day at july the 4th. Colonial hooligans.....
So I attempted to do this Upper RP thing, my friend almost kicked the crap out of me. It was worth it.
Those R.P. accents is what makes one think that the citizens of the UK are arrogant, indeeeed. Oh, jolly wally!
No wonder you've got not many friends since
@@StrangerHappened Oh how terribly foolish of those foreigners.
You should be okay with that rubber face tho
Alright let's be honest...the elderly man gets more women. With an accent like that no woman can resist.
+Well Hello very true!
I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!
lol exactly
aurumnmusic
Too bad!!
If I had known...
hahaha. kidding
Really well made, informative, and funny.
Thank you! Very kind of you!
One might say humorous...
@@Wildjesta Jolly humorous, chap.
Why don't you make a series of RP accent classes?
My grandfather speaks EXACTLY like that, that's amusing. ^^
I believe many grandfathers speak with a heightened rp. One may consider that is quite obnoxious to make a fool of it.
:O
@@Ellieee1117 :O
Who enjoyed the old man like me!! 😊☺️ The way he spoke, the pronounciations and his facial expressions too😁...
He' s jokes
Jolly nice video, chap :-)
Khaled Nageb i do declare, it was magnificiently maaade. Now, if you will pardon me, Im afraid I have a previous engagement to tend to. CHEERIOOOOOO
Khalid Nageb, your comment on this ones comment sections is quite courageous, but I, unfortunately, have to declare something to you, when saying goodbye of any sort chap you must make sure to say old chap, for instance in one's comment, one wrote "Jolly nice video, chap :-)" this is almost correctly written but the correct way to write this is "Jolly good video, old chap :-)", this gives not only a better knowledge of the posh way of speaking but it also enhances ones "poshness" in a sense. thank you, have a jolly good day old chap.
I really love British English. I am obsessed.
You both sound so lovely!
Lily :))
Bunny :D
David Attenborough, Saruman, Gandalf! I love it!
hah! I want to see part 3!!
I absolutely love the Upper RP accent. That's why I always watch b&w british films. "Jolly good video". My parents used to speak like that. Looking foward to return to my beloved England after 55 excruciating years.
Have you returned by now ?
The old dude cracks me up. One would see that one is ugly. lol
I loves this part even more than the first one. Excellent job! I wish l could speak RP fluently. The usage of complex vocabulary is the hardest skill to acquire. especially when your mother tounge is not english!
What's your first language?
nihongofan Indubitably. I must say, these videos are quite good.
The old RP guy seems like an English version of Red Forman.
Wow this is really great! I've always loved old English, but now I realise it's not just use of more archaic words, it's about actually relearning the pronuncation of words I'm learning in my RP lessons right now.
“The British empire will once again acquire the- wait no.”
Kiwi. Yes. Meghan Markle with all her British royal titles with run for the Presidency in 2024, so Britain will once again rule the United States of America
@@vmm5163 But she and Harry stepped down from their royal titles I believe.
@@CulturedPotato Hi Penguin. Unfortunately H&M said they have stepped back, not stepped down, which is a worry. Also they're still fighting for more British Royal titles for their family. They want Archie to be a Prince. He will be a Prince when Charles takes the throne. But in the meantime M has her eye on running for President in 2024. If she wins, the British royal family will once again rule America. I'm sure a lot of Americans will be up in arms about that!
H&M really know how to use their titles to get places when they've supposedly stepped back! 🤔
@@vmm5163
😆 that will not happen unless they rig the election again like in 2020 🤔
@@mosthated8848 There's some worrying relationships going on with Harry, Meghan and the American elite. I wouldn't be surprised if they all conspired to get Meghan elected as president. Yes, I think Trump was unfairly ousted. I read so many comments from regular American people at the time of the election and I couldn't believe the difficulty they had in casting their votes. Things such as being turned away from voting stations and staff not allowing them to put their paper in the box themselves, etc. If that was the UK there'd have been an outcry. ☹️
I can't think of a better teacher, you just CARE, that is priceless.. So much work and *talent*, you can't imagine how helpful you are
+Michelle M thanks so much Michelle! That's so nice of you! 🤘🤓😁
Imagine turning up to school one day talking upper RP. No one will take you seriously 😂
Great video! One of the best channels for accents & learning the dialect of the English language.
I love this channel ! Growing up, I learned British English(RP). Then I moved to the States with my family and have now lost the accent. This is helping me a lot !
Is it just me or the old guy sounds kinda like the docotr
The tripthong part was so funny 😂😂
One does make jolly splendid videos sir.
Lovely video. I can't stop watching the elderly chap. Lovely, gentleman's English. True class.😀
Beautifully done chap, excellent work. More please
Are you also suppose to look like you're constipated?
I'm afraid one really must relieve himself indeed. :S
+carollol it's a very important part of it, yes. Resting poop face.
I had an old English teacher and he spoke the same and he made that face too. A thorough Englishman through and through. It was an honor to be tutored under him.
In my opinion the difference is very subtle in some cases and words, on the other hand to others it is totally clear!
Let’s have more of the old chap. Had a jolly time listening to that one.
Thank you for making this! Not many videos about upper rp here, very helpful.
You and your videos are definitely the best!
Can't wait to go back to England! Thank you for all the lessons, Aly! Hope to get a butcher's at some new vids soon. My accent is getting better by the day thanks to you, mate. Proper work, cheers.
Posh sounds like the clearer version of english
I just love this video, well done and thank you very much!
A jolly interesting video! Thank you, chaps!
Very interesting videos. Thanks for your hard work man!
manners and upper class way of speaking was always a main feature of british gentlmen and women, i love the actual english it shows a lot of respect and class , i really like the video by the way, it motivated me to start investing some time to learn classy words and accent of the original english
"...one would see that one is, in fact, very ugly" - :D
Really useful, still working on my British accent! I wish I'd sound like Emma Watson! Greetings from Mexico!
Hey it's you! :) hola!
+Learn English with Papa Teach Me what city has the Posh accent?
It's not really associated with a city (If it was, it would be London), it's more about the level of formality and class.
Learn English with Papa Teach Me Hola! i'm still working on the accent, luckly i've got my ticket to go to london next year!
Woo! See you in London! :D
Super good class, I loved the posh black and grey gent.
Absolutely marvellous!
Thanks a lot about features you taught us
The upper rp "r" sound is easier to pronounce for me, because my mother lenguage is the spanish
Right. It's easier for us to say "joroh" and "veri".
Certainly, same here, old chap!
Same /a:/ sound, just say "a".
Great video to find out what original English really is! Thank you.
thank you very much for the video lesson... I've been looking for this for weeks
I have lived in New Zealand my whole life, went to England for 2 weeks & caught the Upper RP syndrome, which people find annoying & I still have it till this day.
It's been 6 years...
+Mr_De_Shandiemann hah!!! :)
oh my dear that sounded wonderful.
1:15
"Normally"
It's funny because that sound is rare outside of English and Chinese.
Also, doesn't Jolly mean "pleasant" or "nice"
I love British accent. Thanks for your very helpful video!
splendid, just splendid videos!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you very much for the work.
cheers
"Lavatory" not "Loo" is sometimes used in more formal situations by those with upper received pronunciation.
"The British Empire will once again acquire the United States" Ahahahahahahahaha!!!!! I laughed so hard I lost weight.
Bosquez. British royals Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are running for the Presidency of the United States in 2024
@@vmm5163
You have to be actually be Born on US soil to run for president. That leaves Harry out and we don't elect women presidents.
@@ibosquez5238 Okay. But remember my words, Meghan will run for Potus. She has a lot of wealthy backers and is friends with Biden. I feel really sorry for the good American people with that despot of a woman in charge
@@vmm5163
I'll meet you back here after the next election. I bet you a nickel it'll be a man that is president.
@@ibosquez5238 ok 👍😁
Thank you for this useful material! ^ ^
I must say I found that very informative - well cheerio for now!
love this part, more comparisons
I really like your videos! Little did I know that the course I took years ago in Linguistics would be so helpful!
I am now an actor working in London, and coming from Norway, nobody seems to think so 😊
Norwegians have amazing English accents!
Fascinating video.
your video is just awesome. i've watched it so many time. i like the accent.
You are the best ! I realy loved this video.
More upper RP please! Absolutely super!
totally loved it...:) :) thanks a lot...
looking forward to more such videos....
Jolly nice explanation, young chaps!
Fantastic video
This is brilliant!
This tutor is amazing
Best teacher by far 👍👍
Very informative and fascinating.
Why I love this teacher so much 😭
Awesome video
thoroughly enjoyed it. Found out I was correct when it comes to say Shower. Big thumbs up. Plz an we have more upper RP videos
these videos were very helpful and made my British accent sound better
Great job, keep it up!
This is so helpful
I love this. A pragmatic introduction to the English language. I'm hoping to get to grips with it one day, currently being a 50-year-old Englishman who has lived in England for all of his life. Mind you, I'm from Birmingham.
That's amazing. I enjoyed it, and I'm also glad to be the 500th to have commented
Vegeta's is probably more loved because of his accent. Thank you for your amazing videos Ally!
amazing! I loved it!
Thanks for the educational videos, these are really nice. At least, now I can use high RP for some basic words and sentences :D
And, yes, I subscribed...
The upper RP "Power" expression was hilarious 😂
I really liked the advice on "not opening mouth too much"...it really does make you sound posher. The only thing is that I am an English teacher and I suppose one has to speak more clearly in class
Could you make more videos about RP, please? Love your channel! I have had no idea that English people could use such a natural way of 'r' pronounciation, especially for a foreigner xd
You've just got a new sub!!
You're great! Thanks :)
Loved it :)
Jolly ol' nice video, Chap!
Brilliant
Jolly good!
The best tips ever
very informative
jolly good lesson old chap
I can't thank you enough!
Great! 😂 Daughter goes to a public school this Sep. I asked her if they say "How do you do? "in school. She said nobody. 😂😂
😂
Thank you.
I tried this accent, mastered it. All for sounding arrogant Winston Churcill-ish and commanding.
very good. thx.
I love how you're incorporating phonetics into your lessons, sir. Well pro! :) Enjoyable as well :)
ADDENDA
'Marvellous' in posh English is pronounced in two syllables (marv'lous).
U people know the difference between 'farther' and 'further', and between 'less' and 'fewer'.
U people know if 'ma'am' is pronounced with a short 'a' or a broad 'a'.
This actually taught me that I were already doing an upper RP accent. Cool.
Very good
