It has been almost 3 years since they announced DQ12 and showed a trailer for DQ3 2D HD remake.
Dragon Quest is an amazing series, which I've been playing since the NES era. Currently playing Dragon Quest monsters the dark prince and loving it! Definitely recommend this series to anyone
Yes remind those who played nes dragon quest when it released 30+ years ago..... anyone else feels old?! Lol😂😂 weve become elders!!!
I got on board late living in the west, but every DQ I’ve played which is all except for 9 and 10 has been fantastic! I see where it all began and where Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Shin Magami Tensei, and many other RPG’s got their inspiration from.
Also started with dragon warrior on the nes here though in 2005 only had a N64 and nes at the time
@@JMrealgamer IX was pretty good, but didn't really have strong characterization for the main party (since they're all CAC creations of the player). The villains and side characters however...
Always appreciate OJ showing love to and spreading awareness of Dragon Quest as a series
Nice. Probably too much to hope for mana on the switch at some point.. we need that switch 2.
There's some talk about the new Mana game already having a Switch 2 version in production, but as with some many Switch 2 rumors we'll have to wait a long time to see if it's real
@@pablocasas5906 You can claim that about any game not coming to the Switch, other than exclusives of course, and probably be right.
Id like a DQ pixel remaster of 1-6 like the final fantasy collection.
about that I'd settle for 1 to 7 of DQ 7 the games after that I hated the 8th 9th and 11th games and X is a MMO one where even the OFFLINE version of DQX will never get a English dub of it ever or at least likely won't.
@@veghesther3204 i agree and think 7 should be there or maybe a hd 2d remaster. Its kinda the oddball but deserves some recognition. You sound like me bitching about how the numbered final fantasy in particular 11 and 14. Why not just FF online or FF 0. Now 11 basically doesn't exist and 14 will be dead someday too. Then i assume theyll waste another number on the new online game.
visions of mana looks like something I'd enjoy! Can anyone tell me if the other mana games are similar in style and gameplay?
secrets of mana remastered
Trials of mana or sword
7:59 - Thought you were talking about Tales of Symphonia there
They really need to localize the offline version of DQ10 already. They gave us the FF games, it’s about time we got the rest.
Love your jrpg & upcoming games
& Hidden(high💰value)gems videos 👍
You know what I would like to see in both the Switch 2 & next iteration of the Steam Deck? For the dock to contain some kind of hardware that increases the power of the system for home gaming. Like, once you dock it, it gains more power & performance from the dock.
They're not saving dragon quest X for switch 2. Damn the copium is strong
maybe but 12
How do you know? Oh right, you don't lol it could happen on the "switch 2"
@@obba40 the dragon quest games 🎮 always start on the consoles then 6 months to a year later it gets a switch version
I dought 10 will ever come out globally in the next 3 years. Can’t wait for 12 and that 3 2D HD
@@codysvlogdaysThere has been a general trend of japanese publishers to keep local most of their online products, with a few considered "safe" enough or worth their time to actually try and release them internationally. Final Fantasy is a proven product, one that people shell out money for regardless of actual quality because its history has shown itself to be mostly reliable in terms of story and gameplay (though for me, there has been random hits and misses for a while now). Dragon Quest, on the other hand, has had a more rocky history. Yes, the franchise has had success as a cult classic, but hasn't held up to wider audiences like Final Fantasy has. Would I love more Dragon Quest games to be localized, especially the online game? HELL TO THE YES!!! Do I think its probably going to happen anytime soon? Maybe to probably not considering its western localization history so far. Would they localize a random Dragon Quest title for the heck of it? Considering the titles they localized so far, probably if its an odd ball title or if it did really, really, really well.
The character design in visions of mana kinda amazing looking, I'm hyped for that game
This video definitely sold me as a new subscriber. It still baffles me as to why SE have not released Dragon Quest X for the Switch in America, or IV-VIII for that matter. I finally got around to 3 after beating the first 2 shortly after I got my Switch then and it is every bit as good as people made it out to be so I am very much looking forward to the remake.
Dragon quest X is on the Switch, just in Japanese.
@@wargamesmaster I meant in America, so I edited it to say just that.
DQX is like that unicorn RPG for western fans that we won’t be able to play unless we get fluent in Japanese.
Vision of Mana is looking absolutely gorgeous.
Or use a fan translation patch.
I'll be getting Visions of Mana on Xbox this summer and Switch 2 when it happens!
I feel like Square Enix can go team up with koei tecmo again and make a Dragon Quest Heros III, DQH 1&2 was kinda a rush port on Switch and it was Japan only.
I’m not holding out for DQ10, but DQ3 remake is likely still playtesting and will likely be released this year or start of next year. DQ12 still has a year or two left I imagine, so next gen release makes sense.
I’ll be getting Visions on PC, but I got Trials on switch so I’d be shocked if Visions is not on next gen console.
Dragon Quest 3, 8, 9, and 10 should be ported to the Switch stateside, as well as Visions of Mana if thats possable.
I have not played a dragon quest game in a long time.
I wouldn't mind trying the treasure one.
I play DQ10, and it has a MASSIVE amount of text. It's also a very unique MMO that's totally different from basically any western MMO that audiences here would be familiar with. As much as I absolutely love the game, there's 0 chance it ever gets localized. Financially it would make no sense because the amount of things that would need to be translated would be in insane task, and it wouldn't be able to sustain a player base in the west. It's super fun, but it's niche, and would be even more so outside of Japan, and SE knows it. If you want to play it just go with the fan translations, it can take a bit to set up but the fans have done a great job translating the main story, and there's a ton of support to help get people started.
Fan translation? Players would need to connect to an insecure server to play, right? No thanks.
The massive amount of text may be a reason not to localize the MMO, but it isn’t a reason not to release the offline version in the West. It’s already translated to Korean and Chinese (simplified and traditional).
I like to blame the Western game review culture which has smeared DQ as “too traditional”, which is just code for turn based and not enough gore.
@@user-dh1zg5dq7d No, you play on the official servers with everybody else. It uses a program that injects text into the game. So the main story, along with menus, and some other key stuff, is all hand translated, and random NPC's and stuff are machine translated. But 99% of text you see is very understandable English.
The offline version is basically just meant to lead people into the online version. It has a character transfer function and everything. So I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
@@user-dh1zg5dq7d That last bit is major BS. Being traditional is what DQ wears on its sleeve. I also can't remember bad reviews for DQXI the way you make it out to be.
@NuiYabukoHe’s lying. He’s making up crap that is not true
the new eiyuden chronicles hundred heroes looks like a good game. comes out at the end of this month.
So is dragon quest ten on American switch or no cause I can't find it?
Not, but the JP EShop should have it, though it requires quite a bit of work to get funds for it.
Oh my gosh 😍 I am looking forward for Visions of Mana!😍😍 it looks awesome and so beautiful!
Very cool stuff!
If we hear any news about dragon quest it'll likely be on Dragon Quest day in May. At this point I'm not getting my hopes up about anything though.
I think it's just a typical case of announcing a game without having any kind of development progress other than a logo/trailer. Actually, I think one was expecting DQ 12 to be released for this generation.
Alm+soul guard, sayyy this sounds famillar, with A summoner, and a Guardian. FF X vibes anyone!?
I love it when games put 2D pixelated characters inside a 3D high definition world
I'm waiting on the PS5 release for DQ12. I also thought 10 was announced for the Wii U, not the Wii.
Squarenix is lacking big hits lately with big success. Frankly a dragon quest builder 3 would be neat
I just hope they have faithful accurate translations so the eng sub actually matches the Japanese dialogue this time.
I wish we'd able to play DQ online...
Visions of Mana looks adorable, come on.
Something the parents can play with the kids.
Both can have fun!
I really hate that we dont get all the dragon quest games. why are we so screwed
I heard that SO2R update makes that thing like Chrono Trigger now! That’s crazy! I must play it again. Plus there was the twin Dragon guy I never played yet! I wonder if I can keep the characters I have already? A true, REAL New Game + is hard to come by these days. I’m absolutely glad it’s there now.
Hey OJ, thanks for the Dragon Quest news, anything is much appreciated. I can’t wait for DQ3HD2D and DQXII!
No for SO2 R you need to Regain all the party members on a 2nd run that dragon guy Ashton IMHO is pure CRAP Opera is SO MUCH better but in Chrono trigger lvs always carried over to NG+ runs its just that the R version of Star Ocean 2 is the ONLY game in the ENTIRE series that has a NG+ run where levels CAN carry over.
@@veghesther3204 good to know! That update is golden! Thanks for the characters. I guess that was a bit of wishful thinking on my part. 😂 To me it’s all about dealing as much damage as I can. So Opera you say? Where would I get that person?
Opera FIRST see the 3 eyed Man (Ernest) PA on the way to Cross Castle that's doable like BEFORE Celine herself first joins in that area then once you LOSE to Dias via that 1 tournament WITHOUT Ashton in the party talk to Opera herself in Hilton NOT via a PA inside Hiltons Bar then talk to the King of Cross Castle to be able to enter the Mountain Palace herself Opera can join their.
Say WHATEVER you want about Dragon Quest, but Square isn't trying to kill like Bandai Namco is kinda trying to kill the Tales series. Visions just looks so frickin sweet! I really want this game to do well both critically & commercially. Lastly, the made the best Star Ocean even better! Bravo.
I still weep for Tales of Hearts (get that R trash away from me).
I just find it crazy that the Summer and Fall for gaming looks really dry. It’s seems the beginning of the year is the only amazing part. I hope there are at least a couple more bangers coming out besides Elden Ring dlc and Black Myth Wukong. It’s crazy and actually pathetic that A Lost Soul Aside still does have a release date and it’s been 10YRS 👀👀
Speculation and baseless assertions...
Here's a reason to think about. Dragon quest treasures that was aimed mostly for kids was really bad in sales. Hence why dragon quest dais adventure was a digital release only. Even currently the dark prince did far better. The reason is dragque is not as popular in the West as Japan. They have an entire day dedicated to the Franchise and Yugi Horri. Even the "Tales of" series has been fading from gaming platforms by square because it's not profitable. Those very jrpgs are what inspired most modern jrpgs. Final Fantasy is there biggest franchise besides KH. Western audiences don't have as strong as a Nostalgia as the Japanese do. Look at their fantasy animes !!! Every single one is inspired by their memories and love for those games.
What if Pokemon looks like vision of mana 😍😍😍
Will ichiban kasuga buy this game❓
vision of mana reminds me of granblue charas. Literally the story sings granblue
They need to localize this game.. Almost every player in the world server I'm playing in is American doing a Japanese account.. It's annoying that we have to use a translator to play an amazing game!!
Starting to get pissed about the remake.
Japan is the only country in the entire world which understands so well selling a brand, T-shirts, Toys, Card Games, Video Games make a marketing machine.
But then if anything they make isn't as immediately a SMASH success in the west they are completely content either never releasing games in the west ever again or only doing it sparsly among many decades. Which stigmatizes reception and makes it worse. Releasing Dragon Quest Monsters for example solely on the Switch and not on PC... Like you're not beating Pokemon on their home turf... had DQM released side by side Switch and PC they would have done better. Maybe even been part of that Palworld bubble.
They don't realize the amount of money they leave on table I think.
Very exciting.
Due to the Japanese Yen 💴 being weak right now Player. I doubt we'll be playing these Dragon quest games on a new Nintendo platform anytime soon. I'm looking forward to playing vision of Mana on my ps5 console this summer while I wait for the switch 2 Player. I hope Dragon quest 3 2d 3d remake will come to the current switch consoles Player.
I don’t think it’s weird at all. DQ isn’t big in America. Localization costs money. They need to believe it will be worth it. Plus, XII and III remake are on the horizon; they aren’t going to flood the market with DQ games. III might breakthrough, because HD-2D Asano games have their own fan base built in. I’ve never played a DQ game, but I’ve loved every single HD-2D game so far, so I’m definitely picking up III remake day one. Between the small but loyal western DQ fan base and the Asano fan base, I think this is a great opportunity for DQ. If III does well THEN you might get them to reconsider X.
DQ X also has an 'obscene' amount of text, it's like multiple JRPGs in one with all the expansions. The chance of it being localized is low, even on Switch 2 and beyond; 'maybe' the offline version that seems to be inferior to the online game, by all accounts. Nowadays, even Persona and Yakuza/Like a Dragon games sell better than DQ in the West, let alone Final Fantasy or more 'Western' looking games, such as the Soulslikes or Monster Hunter. We'll see, but I wouldn't hold my breath when it comes to DQ X.
There one reason why they don't localize it. There a lot of porn and ecchi stuff in it. If that true, I rather they never localize so it will keep all it content intacts.
japanese game devs needs to support nintendo first!!! then they can port their games to other systems if they want but their focus should be nintendo. that would be a smarter move imo
Seeing how the Switch has managed to sell over 32 million units in Japan, yeah, it kind of boggles the mind we so many Japanese developers seem to ignore the Switch. I mean, part of the problem is that the Switch's hardware is very underpowered, but I don't know why some developers don't try to make a game tailored to its limitations. On the other hand, you have developers like P-Studio at Atlus that have said that they didn't consider the Switch at all when they started development of Persona 3 R, despite the fact that the game's development started around 2019/2020 when the Switch was already a success in Japan and in most of the World. Not the mention that P3R doesn't seem that different from P5 Royal
Seeing how some Japanese developers, like Namco, Atlus, Square-Enix, SEGA, still seem to have some issues with Nintendo, I don't think we'll see any improvements when the Switch's successor finally arrives
No
@@shayed_6668 yes
i dont see dq3 being nintendo exclusive- itll def be multiplatforms! but im so hype regardless-- imma get it on pc and switch no matter wut
Dude, Individual games are not nearly enough to overcome this bigger thing… called the global economy. Comparing the Switch to the PS5 is just such an American thing to do.
Because of course, in America, nearly anyone 25 years or older could save up $400 or more, or use their Best Buy Credit Card to pay the balance off within 12 months, and never pay single penny in interest.
Americans also: have multiple television or a spare desktop monitor they can use, relatively specious homes, DESPISE RIDING I N PUBLIC
TRANSIT; oh yea, and they get paid in the strongest global currency.
Sony is not even attempting to market to the same broader audiences as the Switch anymore, they lost that battle just like Microsoft lost it to Sony in North America.
The PS5 is is simply impractical for the average urban Japanese citizen. Those who tend to have one simply had more than enough money to spare from theirs savings, because most of Japan’s gaming is done: on public transit, during g a shot work/school break, or at home undocked.
The Yen is far too weak vis-à-vis the YS Dollar, which means inflation ratas are too high to make splurging on game consoles an acceptable hobby, which also means Sony has priced their latest console significant higher than the current iteration of the Switch, and you can’t even play it unless you’re plugged into a TV and
Monitor, and splurge further into unceasingly expensive game.
Square Enix could release 10/10 games every two months for the entirety of 2024, and it still wouldn’t raise Sony’s market share by more than 3%.
I like how you act like everyone in the US can just throw money out the window. Inflation concerns most of if not the whole world.
Probably doesn’t help that Akira Toriyama is dead fam ☠️
hi OJ
I hope there’s a Nintendo Direct in April a very good way to have a good birthday myself if it’s true Nintendo. 🔥🙏🏻
I now wish I lived in Japan or had a grasp of the language, DQX sounds fun just another mmorpg to sink thousands of hours into. to quote fry from futurama "shut up and take my money"
