Several years ago for a while I went to help the farrier of my horses, I can still remember the nice smell of the hoofs while are being cleaned and trimmed. The only remark is that since the horse is standing on the grass one can't see if there is an imperfection in the work done.

Out of general curiosity bc I know nothing about horses, I have 2 questions for anyone who'd like to answer--1. Are the extra metal pieces from the nails sorta just falling into the grass or is there something underneath catching those pieces? 2. What is the stuff being spread onto the hoof after he's finished? Some kind of protectant maybe?! Thanx to whom ever decides to answer!
