That looks great but that's an unusable knife. No cleaver should have a perfect mirrored finish like that. It's too pretty and it's more like a shelf knick knack. We would never have a knife like that in the kitchens..
Incredible restoration! I had never seen such a big lighter, I really enjoyed the 2 videos, keep uploading quality content !!!
Love your work so much! I wanted to ask, when you were cleaning the belt sander, what's that "Yellow-ish stick"?
Can't imagine how many tries it took to get the bottle to settle perfectly for that spinning shot 👍
He can also uses multiple cameras and less tries.
I was thinking the same thing
maybe even he was surprised with how perfect that spin was
@@sarun37823 no cause it’s head on

Okay so no one's gonna talk about the way he spins the bottle and it stops perfectly at 0:37 pretty impressive!
Ikr? It’s so cool
How many takes do you think that took?
@@sechran ... Possibly several-but we know TTR is a guy who doesn't stint on effort when he wants to achieve a flashy effect. It's what the very best film directors do, shooting take after take until the result is just as they imagined it.
I wonder how many takes it took....
I'm still busy trying this. Just took a break to type this comment !
At first I thought the handle was going to be really ugly, but after it was completely finished I just have to say it's the most beautiful handle I've ever seen on any knife! Great choice, making it carbon fiber!

I never thought that blade would ever look that good. Excellent effort.
💯
Don't judge a blade by it's rust
That’s because it’s faked
@@Thumbbreaker4how?
0:58 fun metallurgy fact for you: the volumetric expansion of oxidation/rust of steel is generally between 5-10x. So for whatever size knife you plan on making you'll need 5-10x that by volume in rust to hopefully extract the amount of metal you think you'll need!
I didn't even know it was possible to make anything from rust. I thought Rust is unusable
@@barbdavis4185 rust converter can make it into some non-metallic compound
@@barbdavis4185 Rust's chemical formula is Fe2O3. At a high enough temperature you can add carbon (commonly called "coke" in the steel industry) plus pure oxygen to Fe2O3 to get pure iron out (plus CO2). There's two reactions that have to happen that ultimately produce pure iron:
C2 + O2 --> 2CO + heat
3CO + Fe2O3 + heat --> 2Fe + 3CO2
This is generally how smelting or a blast furnace works to make steel from iron ore.
@@SonicBoone56 oh interesting. I'll have to look it up
@@CatalystRestorations Oh that really interesting. I have no idea what most of what those are but I'm definitely going to look them up!
Rust dust is the forbidden seasoning
Wait, forbidden? 😮oh no
as a carpainter I can finally understand all these sanding and polishing restorations
Were you trying to say carpenter or car painter?
That's a nice looking blade, I feel like that was a lot of gold to put in the handle to not have most of it be seen though. what I think would have looked really awesome is if you had put down the CF in a stripe pattern so it would have been black and gold stripes on the handle.
Good idea!
It’s gold leaf. Like $0.05 of gold is showing and $0.12 of gold is hidden. No big deal. 😂
@@kazj1728 Matters none to me, I like the idea and I'm going to steal (be inspired) it from you. Thanks man! LOL
@@toddfraisure1747 Your're supposed to come up with and use your "own" ideas. Not take anybody else's. If you steal someone's idea, that means you're too "lazy" to come up with your own

Nice mirror restoration. Also adding this extra cutting feature was nice, never saw a mirror having this before.
Nice joke, Johann Meier.
Do you happen to work for Re/max Europe?
@@magnusgogh1163 No. What is Re/max Europe doing? Never heard of them.
Lolol
This knife restoration is mind boggling! I love the results!
I like it how he spins the bottle of crust and dust like ten times
That mirror finish is pure excellence. The CF gold leaf handle is much nicer than expected.
Milos.
The spinning rust jar was so extra but definitely needed 😂
The dramatic flip to show the handle was also needed WOW! 😍
This just showed up out of nowhere in my recommendations, and now I’m a little addicted to how satisfying the videos are.
Would love to know where you get your tools and supplies from - this is the first video I've watched on your channel, I'm a bit of an amateur tool restorer myself, and you've definitely inspired me to up my game. Thank you so much for your time and excellent craft!

Interesting how there are no uneven rust crystalizations on the knife. Almost as if it were rusted intentionally in an oxidizing environment.
Yep
They never claimed it wasn’t or was.
Blade looks way too good for the amount of rust that was supposedly on there. This definitely was not a natural process.
I don't think it really matters, tbh, it's just more about having fun repairing it and showing the progress & giving people something to watch at 3 am 🤣
@@Kristen2245 on god
0:38 I wonder how long this took
Wow, that is amazing. I couldn't figure out what you were doing melting the plastic over the handle, and then I was really confused about the carbon fiber until you started sticking it to the plastic, and then it all made sense. It turned out awesome. It would've been awesome if you had made it from scratch, but the fact that you started with the rusty knife made it even more impressive.
I think the most exciting part is always seeing how much rust is collected and how far the jar is filled
I'd have preferred a nice wooden handle to the resin, but you really did a great job on the restoration and made it your own. Kudos.
Well you’re wrong>:)
@@heidifierro5768 ok
Yeah I'm more of a wood person and for my taste, the handle he made almost made me stop the video cause my personal opinion I thought it looked horrible. But all my knives are wood handles so I'm kinda biased. But the blade itself looked nice.
@@Kazeshini11 also I think restoration should keep as much of the original as possible. Replacing the wooden handle with a modern carbon fibre one is totally contrary to that.
Why would you want to take away the wood, that had been held by many people (that are probably no longer living)?
@@WCIIIReiniger Exactly. Besides my chef's knife, all my other knives we're my mom's and when she passed they became my uncle's (I was a teenager) and when he passed they became mine. Unless the blade breaks or becomes unusable (chef's knife had a huge chip in the blade) I'm keeping them.
I love watching this guy clean all of this stuff it's soo satisfying
Watching these baked asf before bed is the best therapy. Love these videos.
Absolutely wonderful work! I do however have 1 concern. You used UV resin on the inside of the scales. You've basically cured just the edges where the uv light could reach, but if you ever take those handle scales off you'll have a ton of uncured resin just inside there. It would have been smarter to use a 2 part epoxy to keep it together. Just advice for next time
That bothered me to, why would he do that?
I thought the same thing. The UV resin on the inside will never cure, because the UV light can't reach it... 😬
But other than that... I love it!! 😍
Just in general that handle was not well thought out IMO. Waste of gold foil, waste of carbon fiber. He could have painted gold foil into the scale and poured in black two part epoxy and it would have looked great and used way less resources
Finally someone said it!
this bugged me too, that's not how uv resin works
Very professional work, Thanks my friend, Big like ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👍👍
I’m not usually into this kind of stuff, but after watching this I’ve been binge-watching your channel for the last hour 😅
Very impressive I especially love how even the the rust crystallizations are
That handle is incredible!!!
Its such a shame to hide all that gold inside the handle.
nice effect though, looks amazing.
Funny Thats Theres gold under there
It's a shame the handle is no longer wood.
I have to say... I watch a lot of these restoration vids - this one is the best -superb!
Wow, thanks!
Rust is the forbidden dorito
I know I'm late with the comment but I used to think it was melted cheese from pizza
Dang it. I was going to comment that
When the after reveal first appeared, I was thinking it was a terrible finish, I could still see loads of scratches!! Then I realised it was a perfect finish, and the scratches were just mirrored off of the worktop! Amazing!!
The attention to detail, the passion, the artistry, the subtle threat at the end…..😍
This was a very relaxing video to watch- I especially like that there was no narration, sometimes I want a break from people talking so 😌
Your work is superb. It's truly great to watch. You're alot more knowledgeable than me in many, many areas. I wish I had some of these practical skills.
That was wonderful! I really appreciate all of the effort you put into this one to create that genuine mirror finish. It was astonishing to see just how flat you got the blade.
You probably already know this but an amazing tip someone gave me regarding the finish on resin and removing bubbles is;
If you're trying to remove surface bubbles from epoxy resin on a flat surface (not a handle like you were), then using a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol modifies the surface tension and creates a perfectly flat bubble free finish! Just spritz over the top lightly and watch them melt away. It doesn't damage the epoxy resin at all, or change the hardening time. Just a fine misting, not a spray at the surface will suffice
From rusty relic to a work of art! Very well done!
Nice! One of the most impressive restorations I have ever seen!
I love these Restoration Videos there fun and exciting to watch because the end result is just Beautiful and awesome and amazing 😊❤
Bloody brilliant and the attention to detail is perfect
That is the most beautiful knife I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot

Hi

Beautiful restoration. Great job putting the mirror finish on the blade. I was very impressed with how you formed the new handles. The molds being made from hot plexiglass surprised me. Keep on keeping on. Don't let the naysayers distract u.
Thank you very much!

Thank you for also making recycling, fast, funny and entertaining!
Hi Tysy ! I love your videos ! Keep the great work. You motivated me to keep grinding on my own one 🤭
I have a question. How long did in take to sand and polish to get this result ?

One thing, what were the two things you sprayed on the metal after getting the rust off?
I think it was WD-40 and more vinegar, but I might be wrong
Excellent job, sir. I'm looking forward to the rust sword.
And for the record the way you made the template with the plexiglass: that was really awesome.

the way it cuts that paper is truly a beauty.
You've outdone yourself again! Bravo! I want to get my wine barrel rings/bands to a mirror finish. Any suggestions on the sandpaper and polishing compound and how long do you think it will take me?
