- A Russian tank completely covered in armour plating was seen taking part in a failed assault on the Ukrainian-held town of Krasnohorivka. Drone video of the attack shows one Russian armoured column rolling towards Ukrainian lines before being hit by artillery and FPV drones. At least one BMP armoured vehicle is destroyed, and the attack is halted. A second armoured column led by the unconventional then enters the battle. Four vehicles manage to advance close to Ukrainian lines before also being hit by artillery. At least one of the vehicles is destroyed, prompting the other vehicles to retreat. More video then shows the tank in a workshop, apparently filmed by Russian soldiers. The armour seems designed to protect the vehicle from FPV drone attacks, whilst shielding any troops sitting on its turret or on top of the tracks. Russia has been increasingly using tanks to transport troops after losing huge amounts of BMP armoured vehicles that are usually used as transports. #russia #war #ukraine

Ukrainians started using cages much earlier, in 2014, but not on turret, only around the machine. Everyone was laughing on use of "old beds" as anti-RPG. However, now everyone has cages on top of turret as well as around the tanks and it is ok.

The armor looks very thin so even if a Javelin hit the top of the armor and tank it would do very little to sponge any of the damage. It would get blown up regardless.

The attack was successful, the first advancing column split into two and landed infantry.
The second attack along the same route but sometime later was carried out by a mobile howitzer with a "turtle shell" shield. This too was successful and the howitzer returned safely. However it's location was later discovered by Ukraine drones in a warehouse and it was destroyed.

It is almost medieval approach like "turtle" in siege of a castle.
This tank successfully completed its combat mission and returned back. The weakest point of the tank is the tower on top and sides - there is a charging mechanism of the tank behind the armor. If the drone breaks through the armor at this point, and the projectile is in the loading mechanism, then detonation of the ammunition is inevitable. The second armor can save the tank from drones.
After the tank returned to its hangar, the Ukrainians hit the hangar with a rocket. The missile is much more expensive than the T-72 tank. The fate of the tank is unknown.
