- Thank you for watching this episode of The Birding Voyage. In this video we explore several hotspots along the Northern California coast. I saw around 90 species of birds, saw a few lifers, and really enjoyed my time exploring and birding Northern California!

Another awesome video with varieties of birds; great scouting of locations and braving Pt Reyes winds. Are you going to video Morro Bay or Arcata Bay one day but I think you'll pick up lots of similar aquatic birds? At 8:50, according to Sibley West pg 251 that would be an adult eastern Hairy Woodpecker due to its large beak size relative to its head and foraging in large trunks. Hearing the sound would help but it may not be possible to record audio from afar. And 11:07, amazing to see and hear the Wren make that chirping sound... Saw my first Bald Eagle and American Dipper recently..

I'm really looking forward to your game, sounds very interesting. Be sure to add lots of birds and hotspots so that people don't finish the game in a few minutes. On the other hand Im very excited to play that game, just because all the other birdwatching games I have are either completed or don't run well on my computer. If you don't mind can you possibly put some details about how the graphics will look and what types of birds will be featured. If you don't its completely ok and I understand you have more important things to be doing.Beautiful footage of the birds you captured, Nice upload!
Hi Malcolm, thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. The game will feature real videos of birds and pictures or videos of the environment at each hotspot. We'll start out with just a couple hotspots but will add more over time.

Thanks for the wonderful video. Lots of birds. I and my girlfriend are going to Monterey bay this weekend. Where do we look for horned grebe and common loon in Monterey bay? Both will be lifers. Cheers

I agree with the Hairy Woodpecker ID. If you had to pick one birding spot on this trip, which one would you go back to? We are visiting in May from Canada and trying to make the most of our time
I would probably do Monterrey. There are a lot of different places within the Monterrey area to get a good variety of birds. There will be different birds since I went in the winter but you can look at ebird to see where might be best. Have a great trip in May!

I really enjoyed this video, but I often couldn’t hear the names of the birds because of the background noise. Perhaps in the future, you could put subtitles under each bird

I couldn’t hear the names of most of the birds in the first eight minutes because of the background noise of the surf and wind. In the last half. Perhaps you could re-edit the first half and put in subtitles?
