In this Birding Voyage adventure we explore the birds in the southern states of Mexico - Chiapas and Veracruz! I see amazing birds and unfortunately have to end my birding early due to a food-borne illness. This was my final video from the Central America/Mexico adventure. Thank you for your support!

Birding Madera Canyon. April, 2022. Over 40 Bird Species!
My wife and I vacationed in the Puerto Vallarta area around Christmas time in 2003 and in Cabo San Lucas in 2005. Unfortunately at the time we weren't birders yet. We birded in Ecuador in 2016, 2018 and 2023; Honduras in 2018; Dominican Republic in 2019 and Colombia in 2020. I wish I felt safe birding in Mexico but I don't at the moment. What are your thoughts about safety? You obviously go so you must feel adequately safe.
There are probably certain parts of Mexico to avoid, but most of the places I've been have been safe. It sounds like you've been to some amazing birding locations!
Looks like a cool adventure! Sorry you got sick, that’s always a concern in Mexico.
Thanks for watching! That's true about the food!
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Cat. Is. Very cool big flock!!!
Yes it was!
❤😊
Thanks for watching!
So glad this came up as I’m planning on going there in November. Thanks much. Earned a new subscriber. ❤
Sad so many were introduced. Beautiful birds though.
Very cool! Have a great trip!
Wow, so many types of loons on Monterey Bay?! You’re in my state. You should check out the Sacramento Wildlife refuge system. A major stopover for migrating birds. Colusa is the best, imo.
I'll add that to my list. Thank you for the tip!
0:51 Were the northern shovelers doing a mating display on the water?
I think they were feeding
cool duck!
Yes it is! Thanks for watching.
I saw a Bells vireo there a few years back ..then saw a Graces Warbler up in Escondido.! Then one in La Jolla ! SoCal birding is great
Those are great sightings! Yes So Cal is awesome for birding!
Always one of my SoCal stops
It's a great place to bird!
✌👍😍
Thanks for watching!
Nice variety of birds. Good job on the video.
Thank you!
Thank you! I bought a P1000 at my local cam store today, but there is no idea when it will arrive. After seeing this video, and some others tonight, I am going to go pick up the 950 that’s in stock tomorrow. It will save me some money over the P1000 and from what you’ve said, it will be much easier to manage out in the field. Thank you again very much!
You're welcome!
@@TheBirdingVoyage BTW, I saw in one of the reviews that said if you are taking just a normal every day picture that your iPhone would probably be better quality than the P950 due to the sensor size. Can you give me your opinion on this? Thank you.
Hey I’m in Mississippi happy to see Great Egret,Red tail hawks, and those red shouldered hawks, those are my locals, really nice video, thanks for no metal sound track.🦅
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Do you have eBird
Yes but I don't keep up on it as well as I would like.
I’ve lived in Green Valley (20 minutes from Madera Canyon ) for 15 years. I distinctly remember my first trip to the canyon and nabbing a good 10 or so lifers, just like you. Wonderful place!
That's awesome! Yes it's an incredible place. Thanks for watching!
Looked like amazing day of Biridng! Great job capturing those peregrine falcons!!
It was! Thanks for watching!
Gulls are hard to identify due to their plumage variations
Yes they are very difficult when not in full plumage!
I really enjoyed this video. It's rare that I watch a video of this type all the way through but this one was well put together with good pacing and you effectively set the scene for each location with nice, interesting wide angle shots and/or drone shots. I found myself not even caring much if the footage was shaky, it just made it feel more authentic. I also like the shot of the place you stayed. Looks like it was a great trip, glad to experience a taste of what it was like.👍👍
Thank you for the great feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your support!
What are the birds which are flocking on West Ski Island?
Thanks for watching! I'm not sure as I haven't been birding down there recently.
Seagulls, seagulls, and seagulls
Yes! Lots of Gulls!
Belated happy birthday! Day well spent birding 😊
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Those motmots are stunning! Loved the grooved billed ani as well as the trogon. Just saw the elegant trogon in Portal a few weeks ago.
Thanks for watching! Congrats on the Elegant Trogon!
View from USA side
Yes!
Love your videos! What's lens do you use? Your footage is great but it also seems like your lens isn't the typical giant ones either!
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoy my videos! I use a Nikon P950. It's a great camera!
Anyone have a favorite bird?
Thanks for watching!
Amazing❤
Thanks for watching!
That's nice never bothered ❤
Thanks for watching!
Go further up river towards Ft.Erie, you'll see more species.
Good to know. Thank you!
Wrong time of year to bird in Niagara Falls. If you go in winter, you can see loads of gulls. Lesser Black-backed, Iceland (Kumlien’s and possibly Thayer’s), Glaucous, and Little Gull are all good possibilities. You may have your head down to Lewiston for Little Gull - one of the best spots on the continent for that species.
Great to know! Thank you for the info!
Bello pero me daría miedo 😢😢
Gracias por ver!
Let’s admit the pinnacle sighting would be the mighty cedar waxwing.
I did see one! But unfortunately I couldn't get a shot of it while I was there.
@@TheBirdingVoyage Awesome!! Those are among my absolute favorites
They are very cool!
Muy buena cantidad de aves viste allí, la mayoría no las conocía. Interesante video
Gracias por ver!
Do you need a SUV-car or can you manage with a normal car without 4xweel?
I think you would be fine with a two wheel drive car unless you are going to some really remote places.
Thank you! Enjoyed seeing Pt. Reyes and remembering our visits.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Ev, I've been looking to get into wildlife photography ever since I bought this one camera from 2008 at a yard sale, and the COOLPIX seems like the perfect camera for the budget I'm on and for what I have in mind. But my question: Would you say that the extra zoom available on the P1000 makes the greater price worth it? I'm a college student so money isn't exactly plentiful, but I've been leaning on the P950. But all the videos showcasing the incredible zoom of the P1000 has me indecisive. Would you have a recommendation? -Cam
I don't think it's worth it. Plus the P1000 shakes a lot more. The P950 is great.
Thanks for excellent views of Madera's birds. Wish I was there right now. I think you'll want to know: Gila is pronounced HE-la.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the Gila help!
😊I have the p950 so what would be my settings for taking a 1 minute clip of Stars with the iso at 2000mm
There is a moon setting you can switch the dial to and with a tripod for support you can get good shots of the moon but I'm not sure about the stars.
Thats so cool, I'm from jalisco mexico & that jay never gets close. You have to keep a far distance just to see it
Thanks for watching! Yes, Jays in general are funny. Sometimes they stay far and hidden and other times come right up to you.
If you play the swallows in slow motion you can see a thin dark strip dividing the white rump. Most likely Violet-Green Swallow
Thank you for the input! I was thinking it was out of range for them, but you are right!
awesome bro!
Thanks for watching!
Your mystery blackbird is a Melodious Blackbird. They’re endemic to Mexico and Central America.
Awesome! Thank you!
That rooster crowing in the background was desperate to get on camera.
Haha!
Please say what time of year you visit these sites.
Yes sorry I will add it to the description.
Was just there in May.
Very cool! It's an amazing place!
Excellent photography!
Thank you!
Nice!!!
Thanks!
Very fun video! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your video. We're going to Kauai in October and will be enjoying the bird life.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and enjoy your trip!
