    I could listen to Cathie all day. I'm skeptical on ARK's timelines though. I see government intervention being an issue if Tesla displaces much of the work fleet in traditional auto-making. The same could be said with genomics displacing Big Pharma. 10 to 20 years seems more realistic for the widespread adoption of their featured technologies than 3 to 5. No doubt they'll get there eventually, but job loss would be massive if new technologies weren't slowly tapered in. Regulation seems inevitable to avoid the negative political implications. Has Cathie addressed that?

    • @rustyration
      @rustyration Před 4 lety +1

      She has. Years later she was asked that very question about regulators inhibiting autonomous driving and she said regulators decisions are data driven. When a tesla on autopilot had an accident, it brought down serious scrutiny from regulators, who discovered that tesla owners are 40 times less likely to get in an accident than other cars owners.

    Cathie is extremely smart. ARKK is growing very fast. But I can't say I agree with some of these bullish sentiments, which I think she still believes today. Shared Autonomous Vehicles sounds like a great idea and Tesla has been pushing for it. I can't conceive how it can be socially accepted at a large scale. Perhaps, a crowded urban environment without a strong public transportation. Yes. But not a lot more than that. I think this is an urban mentality that underestimates the psychological importance of ownership. But then, I hope ARKK keeps excelling.

  • @ggi5658

    I was wondering why she didn't include 3D Printing and Space Exploration at the start of the video when she mentioned the four general-purpose technology platforms - or rather five if we were to include Bitcoin as actual technology disruptor, which I agree we should. She mentioned cloud; robotics & automation; energy storage and DNA Sequencing. But thankfully Mr. Forbes kept bringing up and asking about 3D Printing and towards the end of the video she added that there are in fact those who do view 3D Printing & Space Exploration as general-purpose technology platforms as well. To me , if they aren't yet at this point, they will soon be. Just wait a few more years as trips to the Moon and Mars become more of a reality.
    Gotta say she touched a lot of the topics that I've been following myself for years, like Hadoop for example. Unfortunately, the coronavirus has kept HaaS pinned down quite a bit this year, but IMO that's one of those disruptors that seem inevitable in the future tech world. So longs don't wait too long to secure your HaaS stock positions. Go get them cheap while you can.
