  • Canyon Strive Review: flowmountainbike.com/tests/ca...
    The all-new 4th generation Canyon Strive has arrived, bringing with it some hefty changes that are designed to turn up the dial on the enduro race track.
    You might recall that when the last generation Strive arrived back in 2019, it was actually Canyon's first long travel 29er. As such, it was built to be a bit of an all-rounder and not just a flat-out race bike. Since then however, Canyon has introduced both the Spectral 29 and the Torque 29, and that's opened the door for the new Strive to let off the brakes and commit to going Full Enduro™. But is that necessarily a good thing?
    Having spent a load of time on the current Strive, we've thoroughly enjoyed its balance handling and versatile suspension performance. So just how different is this new bike then?

    I picked one of these (CFR) up a few weeks ago and I have to say, I have been blown away with how well it and I get along. As a Medium, it is a bit slacker and longer than my Large 2022 Propain Tyee, yet feels sharper and pivots better with the shorter chainstays while the rear end offers excellent support. Swapped out the wheels and bars for my preferred i9 Carbon Enduro S with Hydras and OneUp Carbon bar and installed a Wolf Tooth 200mm dropper instead of the 170mm stock unit and the weight is not bad at 33.4lbs considering the burly nature of the bike and heavier DD casing tires I am using. I actually have found it pretty easy to get the front up on it and offers solid pop off jumps, but it does love to go fast, I've smashed pretty much all my PR's on every trail it has run already. First try on one of my favorite runs, which takes around 6 minutes for me, I killed my prior PR by over 20 seconds. My only complaint is that the bike was delivered with the cranks not being fully torqued so there was a little play and the rear brake had tons of air in it, so I needed to do a full bleed.

    Great review as always Will!
    I've ordered the medium at 180cm. Was on the fence between Spectral and Torque. Wanted something that can do it all from mellow greens to rough blacks, Enduro races and the occasional visit to Tas&NZ. Then this popped up and think it'll be just what I'm after. Can't wait!

    Picking between the new Strive and new Torque as a (super) enduro becomes hard. Torque almost feels the better bike for average weekend rider, as it seems to be more "playful".

    • @finroddd
      @finroddd Před 2 lety +4

      It's such a big turnaround for Canyon, given only a couple of years ago most of their bikes were known for being on the short side. A very different story now with the new Strive!
