This is only my 2nd year with my Micro Minnie 2108 DS. Last year after I bought it I didn’t do anything when I got down south except hook up the water and let the pink run through. Didn’t know about the valves, etc. Haven’t used the tt since last April except for a weekend trip. I had it winterized by the dealer (so I wouldn’t mess up anything) and the service man told me he left the valves in the correct position so I wouldn’t have to access them when I use it soon. But this video sounds like I have to switch the valves before using the water heater so as not to get the antifreeze into my water heater. I will go and review your other video on winterizing as that may help me. I stay at full hookup campgrounds when down south so don’t use my fresh water tank. Thanks for this video. I will review again.
This is an excellent video. I took notes to capture each step in the process, and I now have a reference sheet that will be very useful when I de-winterize. My wife and I recently sold our pop-up camper, and purchased a Micro Minnie 2106DS. Looking forward to our first trip this spring.

That’s a great video. Thanks for the helpful tips. One thing I would add, to improve your sanitation, is to have a spray bottle with isopropanol to spray all your fresh water fittings prior to hooking up - particularly when you’ve had them lying on the ground.

I hate the pink stuff so much, I run a full water tank through about equally on the sink & showers, dump, refill with 10% bleach solution, run all that through, dump via low-point drain, fill tank with fresh, run sink/shower, dump, fill again and dump via low-point, and then fill with clean water. If I smell even a hint of bleach still, I'll flush that tank either by low point or sink/shower and dump and fill again. Maybe a little overkill, but I really like my water clean.
That little "tool" for filling the fresh water tank is GENIUS. You should have a link to that in your description, I'd buy that right now. Good walk through. What about the low point drains, do you do anything with those?

No need to do anything with the low point drains. You will need those closed in order to pressurize the system and get flow through your sink. A lot of times they are not too far from the outdoor shower so if you run clean water through there it will help flush everything out.
Is there a video To sanitize the pipes after the antifreeze has been flushed out? A little (half a cup of bleach) into the fresh water tank and CLOSE the hot water (red pipe) valve to the water heater? Then run the pipes by turning on the water pump and running both hot and cold faucets and let the bleach and water mixture run it’s course. Then once fill with fresh water to clean out the bleach? Yes you want to open up and run water on the outside shower. I don’t open the low point drains to dewinterize because my outside shower pretty much flushes it all out already. You could let it drip if you wanted to, I’ve never had the need to open those.
Question: at the beginning, you put the rod plug in.. then started filling the fresh water tank.. do you leave that on/off switch for the hot water heater on the on or off position then turn it on after you turn the bipass valves toward the tank? Or can you turn that water heater switch to the “on” at that very first step.??
Good question. I think understand what you are asking. You want to keep the hot water valve bypassed until you have fresh water running clear throughout the rig. This makes sure you don’t end up with pink in the hot water tank. Once it’s all clear, then remove the bypass so the hot water tank can fill up. Regarding the on off switch that just heats it up which there is not need until you are out camping and have it filled with clean water.

Great question! And I feel ya on the temp changes. It just dropped below freezing again here in Colorado after being in the 70s a day ago. All you need is water to run through your system and then a dump to clear your tanks. So a full hookup site is pretty ideal. Change your hot water bypass after you flush it out and you are good to go.

If you are talking about winterizing, then yes (but this comment was on a DE-winterizing video). There are two main ways to winterize. One uses an air compressor, the other (as shown in the video) just drains all the water out and utilizes anti-freeze without using an air compressor. Both ways seem to work well, it’s really just a personal preference I think. With dewinterizing, you really just have to get everything all hooked back up and run water until all of the antifreeze is out of the lines.
Whysl is it necessary to use antifreeze in the water lines when you are gonna be drinking g from them ...couldn't you just drain all water in the winter .... I'm very confused on the purpose and benefit of using toxic chemicals to keep.my lines from freezing when I can simply not let water sit in it ?!?!? Make sure there is always water in your hot water heater before turning the element on. It will burn out quickly otherwise. Learned that the hard way.

No need to do anything with the low point drains. You will need those closed in order to pressurize the system and get flow through your sink. A lot of times they are not too far from the outdoor shower so if you run clean water through there it will help flush everything out.

Yes. That would work. Just make sure you are allowing water back into your hot water tank too.

After you are done using the black syphon hose, you should turn the knob back to the original closed position.
