    This by far has been my favorite way to paint an RC body. No thinking “crap I touched this” just give it personality give it a story.
    Just made a Hilux body that is just stupid fun to crawl with and see the patina get better and better

    Brilliant video Moosejaw, I could have done with something like this a year ago! Easy to follow steps and highlights the layered process. The best thing is you don’t have to be a great painter just need to follow a process and don’t be afraid to paint the outside of a lexan body. I’ve just tried some weathering for the first time and its a really nice thing to do. 👏🏻👏🏻

    You may wanna slow it down a bit. I kept having to go back and pause some so I could read everything. Us old geezers don't read that quickly sometimes 😋😋😋
    Almost forgot... Nice tips and tricks and great video layout easy to understand. Duplicating well

    That is exactly what I decided I’m going to do with my Phoenix, but still haven’t decided what color I’m gonna go with, it all has to match wheel and tire choice. Vanquish is awesome!

    Can you make a video on the difference between tamiya ps colors and tamiya ts colors? And why one goes before the other? Please??? 🙏🏽 thank you. Your expertise is greatly appreciated sir!

    Hello! Awesome video! I have also watched the one by your friend Harley Designs! After he does the ts33 for the rust he then does another ts paint for his main colour but you do a ps paint after the dull red.
    Do you recommend ps paint at this stage or either ps or ts types are fine? Hope that makes sense, thanks for any info please!
    Just getting my order ready to do a paint job

    • @moosejawrc
      @moosejawrc  Před rokem

      With lexan, always use a PS first, (good 2-3 coats of any color). After that you can use ts or Ps (though I let dry each coat first (5 minutes or to the touch). After I always coat with Ps-55 Matt/flat clear to seal it all in.

      I am inpatient, and patina jobs go fast than clean paint jobs on inside. So faster on outside jobs, longer on clean (20 minutes, maybe longer on cold weather seasoning paint.

    Is it possible to use this technique with a hardbody? I would imagine it would be tricky not to sand through the silver, . . .but maybe?

    • @moosejawrc
      @moosejawrc  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, you could use this technique on a hard body. Definitely other static model tutorial videos out there would help too. Silver as the base couldn’t hurt. I would Try it on a scrap of plastic and see!

    Hi there! I’m doing my rusty pain job today!!! Curious about one thing tho, after the white coat do you let the white dry before spraying water and applying salt?
    Second part of that question.
    Do you apply the next colour while the water and salt are still wet?
    Just wondering if the water and salt is meant for reacting to the colour you just sprayed, or is it more reacting with the next colour that is sprayed on top?
    I hope that makes sense, and thanks for any info!!!!
    I hope that

    • @moosejawrc
      @moosejawrc  Před rokem

      Yeah give it about 5 minutes and see if dry. Poly paint dries well during summer temps but not so quick during colder temps.
      Sometimes I take a dry paper towell and dab some of the pebbles of water off, wet salt is ok. Salt can absorb water for days so I just pint over it (again after 5ish minutes of each coat drying.
      Salt and/or water acts simply as a barrier between the varied coats of color. Sure in spots can blend but that adds the variousness of texture/color ya find on real patina

    Is there a ps paint you could use for the rust color?

    • @moosejawrc
      @moosejawrc  Před 2 lety +1

      I have seen some use copper but I think too metallic. As long you lay down a PS color first tamiya TS or the AS will adhere to the PS paint.
