My Father was the owner if his own barbershop for about 35yrs. He always held down his family. He never let my mom or myself and my brother go without anything. He was there at night when I went to sleep and there in the morning when I woke up. He worked 7 days a week and always supported my Mom with her goals. That is the definition of a real MAN!!! Then to learn they broke up and he says she was USING HIM FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT/SECURITY!! Then there are women who love to be a house wife but also love having a career (like my wife). My wife loves taking care of the home and she is very ambitious in her career but she balances the two. There needs to be balance, I think that is part of what he was asking. If you dont want family responsibilities, then dont have a family and find someone who agrees with you on what those family responsibilities should be. There is no right or wrong when it comes to what a man or woman should and shouldnt do with their relationship as it relates to man and woman responsibilities. It is what makes the couple happy. Balance and compatibility is the key.

I feel I need to comment from a stay-at-home mom/wife pov. Most people believe that our roles are not stressful and that we don't appreciate our spouse. That is not true. When my husband is stressed about bills I am too because we are partners in this marriage. I want to help financially but I can't because any money I make will go to daycare and not the household. My husband doesn't have to do anything but work. I clean the house only to have my family come in and destroy it. There is no time off, no sick days. I make all appointments, volunteer at schools, extra curricular activities make lunches everyday. I'm a hair stylist for my daughter and a barber for my son. I am a tutor for both my children. I said all that to say this the difference between my husband and some men is that he appreciates everything I am for him and I love and appreciate him in return.

I've been with my husband for 18 years and he treats me just like this he doesn't want me to work he just wants me to cook clean and stay home and take care of the kids while he stays gone 19 hours a day 6 days a week went through the same things when I was pregnant with our kids and now I'm working 3 jobs and all he does is tell me what I don't have to do he wants to keep me stagnant and depending on him
