The hospital where Curly received his High BP retinal hemorrhage and obesity diagnosis was Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. I think too as to why Moe didn’t want Curly to live in a mental hospital was because he didn’t want Curly to be alone or isolated from his family.
I can only imagine the sad lack of good medical treatment in those days - compared to now. Thanks Steve, and hopefully you don't come to your own sad ending anytime soon.
Thats for this lovely but sad story of Curly. They were all so funny and may he RIP. As for me i am grateful everyday when i wake and are still here. I really enjoy your videos.
Hi Steve! "The Three Stooges," were a staple of my growing up years. Each day after school, as mom was making our dinner meal, I sat "glued" to the TV watching "The Three Stooges." They were always so funny, all of them!
I'm not sure if you know this but Curly has a currently living grandson who has his own CZcams channel. This same grandson has come to embrace Curly's legacy as a stooge very passionately. Here's the link to his CZcams channel: youtube.com/@curlysgrandson?si=L7y3UIC7jTKYqTJV
I remember watching a Stooges short about 12 years ago, after not having seen one for 20 years or more. I couldn't stop laughing at the insane things Curly was doing. Man, it would have been a hoot to be on set, watching them film the episodes. Curly was a comedic genius.
I think I have much more of an appreciation for "The Three Stooges" now than I did years ago. We didn't have cable growing up, so we "settled" for shows like The Stooges, or Gilligan's Island, and others shown on UHF channels. Lol. But back then, I found them annoying and unfunny. Now, in my (ahem) 40s, I find it hilarious and entertaining. I love these bios on celebrities of yesteryear. My favorite star of the Golden Age/Era is definitely Cary Grant. I tell people I was born in the wrong decade considering my love for Cary Grant and William Powell movies. Getting back to the brothers Howard, sounds like they were extraordinarily close. Despite him passing decades ago, I got a little choked up hearing how Moe was insistent when it came to "what to do with" (sorry- that sounds kind of harsh to word it that way, but I mean no disrespect at all) Curly. Thanks for another great video! 😊
I always like hearing stories of Curly. I’m 71. I grew up watching these guys on TV after school curly just seem like a guy that he made you feel good just by looking at him. Some people have a built-in smile. Another one is Gene Hackman. I don’t know if he’s a grouch or not but he sure looks like a nice guy.
My favorite comedian of all time. I watch him every day. Curly is the man! His story is so sad though 😢😢 I was so glad when I saw your video remembering him. Thank you Steve.

this one gets me. I'm hearing about Curly's health while looking at clips of the stooges with a BIG Smile. To Me, He was the Most Animated. Thanks for the Great Clip. S U B S C R I B E !!
Why don't you talk about his drinking issues? You can't white wash the past, I am not going to subscribe because you are not being honest. It is well known that Curly had a drinking problem, and you never even mentioned it.... WTH???
My videos are brief and to the point. Everyone smoked and drank excessively in those days, so don't always go on about it. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Everybody loved Curly.
