    White was a GREAT QB for the Cowboys. Very underappreciated.

      His problems were he followed Roger and his team was aging and on the downward trend later, when they replaced him with Peuller. It’s really too bad he didn’t get to the Super Bowl. Right after Roger retired, and every time we made the NFC Championship, I thought we’d get to another Super Bowl. It just wasn’t to be.

      @@devildog65 White unfortunately wasn’t at his best in the biggest games he played in, but credit him for helping Dallas have the best regular season record over 1980-1983.
      He’s not a Hall of Famer or anything, but he was a bit under appreciated in his time.

    D. WHITE is my Cowboys QB. I have more childhood memories of him than Staubach. I never felt like we were beaten.

    Danny White was very underrated and underappreciated. He was one of the most accurate passers I've ever seen. I think that Dallas would have won each one of those Super Bowls if they had advanced and then the story about Danny White would have been totally different.

    I'd like to shake Danny's hand and let him know he was appreciated. He kept us in the winning ways for most of a decade. until the team and organization aged out. He put in great work. His dad was the great "Whizzer White", thus his nickname.

    Danny is a great QB, Roger's my all time favorite but Danny is right up there, he did a great job following a Legend.
    If the Team was able to make one of those SBs no doubt in mind he would have a ring and also be remembered as a Cowboys Legend as he currently should be.

    Danny has a ring, but I wish he could’ve won one as a starter. He was such an accurate passer but the luck just never fell our way. I really enjoyed those years, and especially relish them looking back. He was an incredible athlete and the last great QB Dallas has had, so far. If Dak gets back to his old self, I believe he’ll keep the Cowboys competitive, much like Danny did, for his whole career. #DC4L

  • @anthonybrooks5040
    @anthonybrooks5040 Před rokem +3

    not a Cowboys fan; yet, during his career, Danny White always BALLED OUT! I watched him all those years and he was definitely a great player who deserved to be a starting QB in a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, his lone SB appearance was in XIII, and I know him in that game for starting to (but not) slam his helmet to the ground when longtime Cardinals TE Jackie Smith dropped that TD pass that would have tied the Steelers 21-21. Also, it was definitely not his fault that their "Doomsday II" defense was subpar during White's tenure as a starter.

    I knew Dallas would not win against Philadelphia in 1981 playoff NFC Championship. But I thought the 49ers would lose. But that was a great game. Danny White may me a proud Cowboy fan.

    I was a Cowboy fan starting in 1970. I always felt like Danny would pull it out in the end just like Roger. He carried the Dallas Cowboys long after their prime in the 1970's.

    I've always been a big fan of Danny white. I just don't understand why he is not in the Dallas cowboys
    Ring of honor 🎖
    It's just right down criminal.
    If Tony Romo gets in they sure as he'll better put Danny white in.

    The Cowboys never had a top 10 defense with White as a starter. People forget that when Staubach retired, the team also lost Hall of Famers Cliff Harris and Wrayfield Wright. Thomas Henderson had also been cut; and each year, it was someone else retiring. They never effectively replaced those positions with equal talent; and between 1980-1986, they only drafted one Pro Bowler…Hershel Walker.

  • @johnpublic5169
    @johnpublic5169 Před měsícem

    A heck of a quarterback and his career would have been celebrated by many other franchises if he had played for them. He had the great throws, the comebacks, the big plays on fake punts, the yards, the touchdowns, & the winning percentage. I think his greatest play came on a running play in 1985 against Pittsburgh. It was a sweeping pitch right. Student Body Right is what they called it at USC. Dorsett is heading right, but the Steelers have it cutoff. Tony does what Tony does and comes back left. Seeing this, Danny goes from watching the play to lead blocker. It wasn’t a crushing block. It wasn’t a de-cleater. He just got in the way enough to “block” the defender’s path to Dorsett. To me, that epitomizes team. Do whatever you can or called upon to do to help your team win. If I remember correctly, Dorsett scored on the play and Dallas won the game. I’ll have to look for the game on CZcams soon.

    The real fluke in those NFC Championship games was the
    Philadelphia Eagles because
    San Francisco 49ets and the
    Washington Refskins won
    the Super Bowl and started
    dynesties; Philadelphia lost
    to the Oakland Raiders in
    Super Bowl 15, they became
    also rans, they even had an
    defensive pass interference
    involving Tony Hill ìn an regular
    season game at Veyetans, that
    game was for home field
    advantage in the 1980 season.

    Danny was unquestionably one of the most underrated players in Cowboy's history, but he played a major role in the teams 4 playoff (e.g., 1980-1983) losses. He played poorly (e.g., offense scored 7 points) in the 1980 NFC Championship Game. He couldn't ice the 1981 NFC Championship Game prior to The Catch, and after Pearson's catch put the Cowboys within 10 yards of Rafael Septien's field goal range, White fumbled the ball via strip sack to end the game. White played poorly for most of the 1st half of the 1982 NFC Championship Game before leaving the game via a concussion. As mentioned in this video, White turned the ball over 4 times in a 7 point home loss to the Rams in the 1983 Wildcard Game.

      @helpisontheway9405 Roger posted a 100 QB rating in 3 Super Bowls (e.g., Super Bowl 6, 12, 13) and he played well against an all-time great defense in Super Bowl 10. Staubach also played at a high level in several playoff games with the highlights being the 1972 NFC Divisional Playoffs, 1973 NFC Divisional Playoffs, 1975 NFC Divisional Playoffs, 1975 NFC Championship Game, and 1977 NFC Divisional Playoffs.
