    I'm Japanese, and most of my knowledge about Japan's war crimes is from English sources. Because less than 10% of the population is multilingual, Japan is getting away with its censoring. I got bullied when I pointed out some stuff my history teacher was missing and was accused of lying when my classmates couldn't find any Japanese sources. I'm so glad you've brought this up on your platform, I'm tired of people ignoring our war crimes and lack of accountability.

      Ya except the Nazis didn't torture.
      The starvation from the camps was because allied bombing raids had reduced Germany and Poland to ruins. Destroyed their train tracks roads etc and farms not to mention no foreign aid was coming in. They needed all the food for the soldiers and cities because Germany was starving and a lack of medicine and assigning teenage boys to gaurd the camps caused disorganization and a cleanliness issue and so a large typhus epidemic broke out amounts the prisoners and guards (this was why heads were shaved and zyklon was used to stop this. In the end the camps were basically abandoned to 14-16 year old children with no supplies. And the allies never found a d-camp only the trusty soviets did.
      Really look into this yourself. The Germans were not monsters, far from it.

      China records their atrocities like: “we had a war. 2 million died.” Yeah, the largest ancient war in history… or they got a couple of cities in there, maybe a couple of ethnic groups, too.
      But thank the universe, they wrote down all their recipes.

    I’m an American living in Japan. I’ve been to several WW2-related peace museums. There are two broad things they focus on: Japanese casualties and future denuclearization. Unlike Germany, Japan will never apologize for their part in the war.

      Nuking was mainly a show of power to intimidate the Soviet Union, not to crush Japan who already lost the war. It should be said that A) conventional bombings have taken more lives of Japanese civilians than both nukes, and B) Japan would only surrender when Soviet Army kicked them out of mainland Asia, and started preparations for invasion of Japan.

      That’s only because those running the Unit made a deal with the U.S. to give them all the information and in return it would be kept secret, i believe one of the reasons why they wanted it secret was the Soviet Union, but later on the Soviets came knocking anyways, and they got the information as well. Unit 731 wasn’t public knowledge until the 80s

      Its the fact they never even knew they did wrong at all. So all the terrible things their empire did has never even been brought to light or justice, they never buried the truth just swept it under the rug. That's why half of Asia hates the Japanese so strongly.

During the Dutch colonization Indonesia is just a bunch of empires/kingdoms and tribes however the hatred against our colonizer harden our resolve to create our own unified and Independent country and push back the colonizer, after Japan occupied us acting as the liberator they create an volunteer army called "pembela tanah air" unknown to them we will soon rebel and fight the Japanese because they're not treating us any better than the Dutch (heck they did stuff even worse). There is still more to the history of how Indonesia became what it is today but it's pretty long

    Thing is, most of the Japanese generals who committed war crimes didn’t get the punishment they deserve. Most of them were in jail for several years and then released afterwards. Some even got away with no punishment at all.

    My great grandpa fought in world war 1 at 16 after lying about his age, and then fought in world war 2 in the navy. In the battle of Java, he was killed, but just recently we found out he may have been a Japanese POW… felt really bad for my grandma hearing about that since she was just a baby at the time.
