    The more I look at your videos, the more I see that they are very well made and very complete.
    It took me a long time to discover these things and I would have liked to have had your videos earlier.
    You're doing a very good job. Thank you!!!

    Great explanation. I found your video very helpful. Thank you.
    I am not sure if you have another video covering this but one note about Tip #4 - Groups and Phasing. Groups do not have a phase assigned to them. Individual entities within a group have a phase assigned and that assignment acts similar to a "instance parameter". You can select the entity separate from the group and assign its phase created and demolished. This will only apply to that instance of that group.

    TY for the great tuts! Tip 1: How the temp wall is showing blue immediatly after duplicating the level and before creating new phase filter for temp?

    How would you go about showing temporary walls that are set up before any work begins, and then removed towards the end of a project but not necessarily after completion? There would also be temporary walls that are put up and removed during different phases. Thanks, really getting a lot of useful stuff from your channel.

      Hi Charles, glad to here you are finding value in the content.
      With regards to your question, I am afraid there is some nuance to be considered. I think the best way to do this is to create a detailed phasing strategy for your project and identify the correct time lines of the works in the real world. I generally try keep number of phases to an absolute minimum - no need for enabling works /demolition phases for example as they can be communicated via the phase filters. Once you have identified the proposed phases of works (think big - such as expansion phase 1 2020, expansion phase 2 2021 if you have a building that is Likely to grow in distinct independent building volumes and time intervals - I would not have a house extension broken down to Builders works Phase, 1st fix and second fix phase for example, this would all be considered a single continuous phase of works).
      Once the project phases are understood completely, I would start the assignment of the temporary items accordingly - if you have temporary items that stretch across multiple phases you will not be able to use the temporary phase filter as it will not present the way you desire. In this instance I typically give the temporary items a distinct property that a view filter can then be applied to so it communicates the walls as temporary via a matching line style graphics override to the temporary phase filter line style. Clear as mud, I know.
      Anyway, I hope that response clarifies a few things for you Charles. Make sure to subscribe and I'll make a video specifically about view filters in the coming weeks which may help inform a little better than I have described above. If you have a really awkward project particular you would like to comminucate we can figure out a way of opening a communication channel and I can better direct you to the solution.
      Regards
      Niall

      @@8020BIM Would it make sense to create temporary walls in every phase even if they are just replacing temp walls from the previous phase in the same spot?

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  Před 4 lety

      I wouldn't recommend that Charles, it means the creation of many more instances of a wall than will actually exist. Any scheduling etc derived from the walls will be incorrect, quantities will be inaccurate etc.
      I would stick with my original suggestion of using a view filter in combination with a parameter (even something as basic as filtering by comment - could assign a comment "temporary" to the temp walls throughout).

    For “Part Demolition of Walls” what if we have one window in that wall ? And we want to demo finish layer and build another one ?

    • @8020BIM
      @8020BIM  Před 2 lety

      For part demolition to host elements such as Windows you merely place the window onto the proposed phase and it will show the cut ope dimensions as demolished. For finishes only you would need to split the walls into parts or you would need to model a finish as a wall in isolation first to show the demo of said finish.
