I really hope Capital One allows us to keep our Walmart card. I only got it a few months ago, but i exclusively shop at Walmart for grocery pick-up and i love the 5% cash-back. If it gets replaced, i hope it's with something that also gives 5% back.
They could always make their own card that gets high multipliers at Walmart but since they got dumped, I don’t see them in the mood to send business to Wally World
Thanks for sharing. Things did change with Cap One/Walmart announcement. My WM/CO card was arbitrarily removed from my WalmartPay account. No announcement for the disconnect or anything. Only found out when I got to the register to pay for my groceries. Not a good customer experience.
I think Resy is a lock. Maybe one other thing as well, not that it'll make much difference but they seem to add 2-3 things at once then it's easier to say you don't have to use them all
Bye Bye AMEX Gold!!! That's funny Capital One was like - Peace out, Walmart. But ya can't take any customer info with ya. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the info + video!
I love the Resy credit from my two beautiful Amex Delta Reserve cards (Biz & Personal). Multiple Resy listed restaurants in my area. I just order take out in the restaurant website and NO tip. 😂. I hope my beautiful Amex Gold get a Resy Statement credit as well. Cheers 🥃🥃
@@RJFinancial😂. The crazy stupid statement credit is the Lyft statement credit from my kind of beautiful Citi AAdvantage Executive Elite MC. Take a look at that stupid $10 monthly statement credit. 😂
I’m hoping for a solid bank replacement for the Walmart card, I’ve held the Walmart card since 2017 with no offer to upgrade to the MC version Capital One while a solid bank has abysmal underwriting. Not sure which bank would make the most sense yet alone want to bother with Walmart after two others split with them. Coastal Community Bank would make the most sense with their One Debit card through them anxious to see what happens!
I feel like it's BOA's turn to get one. Not sure why. I always want Chase as they make the best non travel cobranded cards. Likely that Wally World tried to roll it under their fintech division they were talking about. I think that would be worse for everyone
@@RJFinancialBOA would be solid, I would get my foot in the door ha and they have the assets to carry the Walmart card credit portfolio and should deliver a solid experience.
You were correct RJ, letters are now going out from Capital One to Walmart card holders that they will be product changed to QuickSilver. I’m bummed about this as I liked getting 5% back online, but wish it would have been in store also. A 1.5% card does me no good as I already have a 2% card. Perhaps I’ll try to product change to a Savor.
Sadly, they'd don't care about an even swap. Simply making it an easy swap as in no annual fee. I've heard the AAA daily advantage gets 5x in Walmart stores. I have it but haven't used it there yet
It would be nice if they reduce the coupon aspect of the Gold card, but add a 5X dining multiplier. For example, I would be ok with a $120 Uber credit, 5X dining credit, 4X groceries @ $325 AF. I would say that's pretty fair. Essentially a $200 effective annual fee but you get a 5X dining, which would have been similar to the Citi Prestige. That way the card would be a 5,4,3 card. 5X dining, 4X groceries, 3X airfare.
We assume Amex doesn't pay for the coupons, or at the least pays minimally. They would have to pay for the points earned so I can't see them wanting to do that. They haven't increased or add multipliers in years... it is my main complaint along with you. Nothing of real value.
@@andreeldridge8457 sure, so the savor 1 earns 3x points on the same categories as the gold, and you can transfer those points for travel. Since the savor is free and each point costs around 1 cent per point on average then you’ll need to spend 32.5k on the gold just to offset the annual fee
@@andreeldridge8457 I'll guess that Ami means that in, order to make the Amex Gold (which I've never had) a better option than the Savor One (which I have and find useful frequently), the dining spend on the Amex Gold would have to exceed $32,000.00 per year. Amex Gold costs $325 per year. The Savor One has no annual fee and comes with complimentary Uber One membership.
We had a blog post about it awhile back. Think it was in a video as well on a past Sunday show. You did remind me it was coming and for that we thank you brother
I have 2 cards with the resy credit and even living in a city with a good selection of restaurants I still find it super annoying and only value it at half of face value for my AF break even calcs. I took an upgrade offer to plat so won’t have to worry about how annoying the gold is for a while anyway. It was a big enough offer to “lose” my chance for a new SUB since im always in pop up jail anyway and trying not to open any non keeper personal cards anyway
It's when they make the credits so specific like this. Dining credit the t can be used anywhere is fine, dining limited to a few spots is now annoying. Same thing with this
No. Product changes aren’t a new account and they only give offers for new accounts. You’d have to open before the change. But it’s only a guess on my part. I can’t say you should take action now. They’ll probably be a small window where we know that’s coming and then can decide

Something both are known for and weirdly enough what started the original lawsuit
If they add a Resy credit to the gold card to compensate for the price hike, I am instantly cancelling.
I think Resy is a lock. Maybe one other thing as well, not that it'll make much difference but they seem to add 2-3 things at once then it's easier to say you don't have to use them all
Next update: Walmart CEO puts a restraining order on Amex, who is desperate to make a Walmart version of their Gold card, in wake of the absence.
Maybe they can add the Walmart Sub-Way shops to the incoming Resy credit

Seems that way to me. Not super uncommon with cobranded products. Could also be because Walmart isn't setup to handle them yet

What about the Walmart Store Card? Not the Mastercard..
If your like me and get no use from Amex gold coupons you would need to spend $32000 on food to offset the points earned from the savor one

Depends on how you grade the points when transferring but yes, I agree. The gold is good but it's trickier than it seems to hit the return

Probably citi bank. They do a few big retailers
I like Citi, wouldn't be terrible option, tho their cobranded cards aren't amazing
+1 for the transitions and the "waste of happy people" regarding the 2x to 1.5x nerf. I hate Paypal, and had them for 22 years. No more.

Yep
The question then is WHEN will the gold card fee be raised. Hoping it's after September 'cause that's when mine renews!
Agree, it'll happen. Probably add 2-3 new coupons so you don't have to use them all to 'get value'

Great roundup, RJ!
If annual fee is increased before October 25 with the Gold, I will be canceling when annual is fee posted on my account.
I can't imagine anyone aside from the coupon simps will be happy with the changes

Wonder how long until other 2% cards also drop to 1.5%
I could see smaller cards do it like a Sofi. Citi/Wells I think will hold. Maybe so add a cap like Amex does
