I can relate, these are among the reasons ive never dropped 60 in an NBA game either
@@markzuukk6733 to be sure, there are more reasons i never dropped an NBA 60piece, but these are among the reasons why
I agree with him on the point that he gets treated much differently by teams since slowing him down is much more different and difficult than other players but not all of those 50-60 games have players having the same looks. Some times it is just them being unstoppable and making some shots that they shouldn’t be making. Best examples would probably be Dame last year in game 5 with 55 and that 61 against the Mavs, Kawhi against Philly game 7. He didn’t score 50 but in that series in general him getting 35 plus 4 of those games with the way they were sending bodies at him matches that description. LeBron’s games in 2018 in the playoffs. I mean teams were adjusting but sometimes those players getting those shots off, even though defense played as good as they they, is enough for them to go for that much.
I think it’s mainly that KD has always played with high volume shooters for teammates, and that he should take more 3’s.
Nah man he's right, look at players like KD, Steph, Luka. The opposing team would rather let their team mate shoot a wide open shot than having them iso 1on1 and get a contested look.
It’s true they’re not trapping Bron or JT at the top of the key or the wing because they can’t make every shot isn’t there shot KD is getting minute to minute adjustments since he became a superstar and also him just trusting his teammates help, he’s always played with great shooters so kicking it out isn’t a problem when Steph or Kyrie out there

KD only average 18.7 shots a game. The most shots he has averaged for a season is 20.8 and he average 32ppg that season. For reference Jordan averaged 23 shots per game and the season he averaged 37 he shot 28 shots per game.
Bruh imagine if Kd shot 28 times a game for a whole season my god 😂
@@petrassmile4873 The crazy thing is they had way less possessions in the 90s because of the the slower pace. If we adjust for the pace of 2021 Jordan would have put 32 shots per game. You are supposed to win 10 scoring titles when you put up that many damn shots.
@@tabernathy0428 you act like mj was shooting 20 percent from the field while doing that and let's stop act like he wasn't shoot over 50 percent those years to😂😂
KD ain't selfish enough. He should be more selfish. He could bring his game up some more but I doubt he has the energy to do it. It's easy to say so and so only takes so and so many shots, but in hoops you gotta manage your energy, and Jordan had an abundance of it. Durant is playing at an insanely high level, but could he physically and mentally take it up a notch? We don't know, and I doubt it. Everything becomes a bit harder, the more you do it in the same amount of time. It's like watching elite sprinters. They could keep up with Usain Bolt for like 60 m but they couldn't for the full 100. Usain did more in less time across the same distance.
Well a lot of this has to do with it being different eras and the rise in 3 point shooting, it is easier to score more on less attempts if you are taking substantially more 3s. Jordan only attempted 1.7 threes a game for his career where as kd attempts 4.9 a game. Not trying to detract from what KD does just giving context.
I disagree with KD to some degree about taking the same shots. Iverson dropped 60 attacking the rim head on and copping and-1's. And he's 5'11/full foot shorter than KD. Klay dropped 60 off varied shots as well. Every player finds their own path to 60 anyway. None more easier or harder.
Well being 5’11 does sound like it would be harder to do that lol
i get what you’re saying but for kds play style he takes around 10-15 shots with like 2-5 3s a game. he doesn’t get the ft volume like some other players and doesn’t shoot enough 3s like klay or steph to get to 60 as well.
@@Jozuii Durant literally averages 20 shots a game this season
The thing is For both of those games Klay and Ai were forcing shots. Those shots go in cause they are Ai and Klay but KD don’t force shots. Those “adjustments” that happened to KD happen for those other players. Difference is others players will forces those shots to go in (on a good night) while KD will make the right basketball play
The truth is he doesn’t attack the rim as much as other players to get free throws…. He wants to inform the ignorant but he literally just said he makes the right play while some guys force the issue and put pressure on the refs

This is one of the best podcasts on CZcams. The questions you ask and the players you somehow get on the show are incredible
His explanation is kind of ambiguous because those players that go and get 60, 70 etc., also have to deal with those “adjustments” that the other team and coach makes when they see a player getting hot. It’s almost an excuse for him missing shots or not going for them in the long run, although he’s a prolific scorer.

@@NothingElseMattersJM I didn't mean it in an ineffcient way. I meant KD doesn't have the mentality to get a huge amount of shots up. Bay Area guy here. Nice interview. This is the problem with Durant though. With the Dubs he was forced to play team basketball. Off the ball. Set down screens. Run the split action. Defend, rebound, and run. Never saw more open looks in his life. And you know what? He whined about it. He talks like an unselfish player but that’s not his tendency on the court, especially when the game gets tight. At the end of halves he would start clapping for the ball, even when rebounders were trying to push the tempo, and everything stopped moving in the half court. That’s why Draymond called him a b***h. It got tiresome. He did great things for the Dubs and had some incredible performances but guess what? Nobody misses him here. Black hole emotionally and on the court. Loved watching him play when he bought into the team concept but it’s just not really in his nature to do that. He’s an iso player at heart. He’ll never win another title and he never would have won one without Steph, Klay, and Draymond.

Ok, so I'm slightly confused on KDs explanation for why he hasn't dropped 60 yet. Is he implying that teams don't make adjustments for other stars that are getting off? That's a bad take. I've seen teams double and triple Curry AND Harden to a lesser extent in his prime while still going off for 60 or whatever. KD is top 3 scorer of all time. But that was weak IMO, I need a better explanation than that from one of the greatest scorers of all time..

Valid
Why he acting like he's the only superstar that coaches adjust to? This literally happens to every superstar
Ikr idk what he on
I love KD but this response is corny - he’s acting as if someone like Kobe (who scored 60+ multiple times) “never got adjusted to”. The problem with Durant at times is that he’s not always hungry to chase the ball and his offense - Kobe and MJ would cut off ball, fake back door, seal, etc. so they would get the damn ball. KD puts his hand up on the perimeter and if he gets denied for 2-3 seconds, then he just stands around
@UCOA0IeXrI7T3FD-t8-tzo1A ah i see that makes sense tho

I disagree with him saying the adjustments don’t change from opposing coaches. Perfect example of that is Steph. They trap Steph from the jump because of who he is and that’s before he even shoots the ball. If you watched the NBA last year you would have seen him getting guarded by 3 guys sometimes.
The main reason he don’t get 60 is because he doesn’t shoot enough. He likes to get to his spots but sometimes you have to just make a spot like Steph, Klay, Dame, book etc
The funny thing is he is capable of dropping 80
If he wanted to.

Kd actually made me think and understand why certain players will have these great 50+ games if the other team feels there's no need to stop them and can still get a W they sometimes won't put the pressure needed to stop the player who's hot and we've seen great players have career highs and lose like Trae Young 56pts and Devin Booker 70pts
kd lost in his career high 55 point game to trae and the hawks
Reason why he’s not Kobe, MJ, AI, Tmac, Wilt, even Harden level when it comes to greatest scorers of all time. He’s the most efficient and the “safest” scorer taking the right shots and all that but them other guys names above were killers, they’ll miss 10 shots in a row and keep shooting no matter what. KD would change up his style in the game and start passing more, which isn’t a bad thing. He’s a great teammate, one of my all time favs.
Ok KD is long overdue for a Pardon My Take interview.
this is what Kd likes he wants to talk about basketball with players that ask good questions not reporters trying to put their own narratives on a conversation
I disagree with the things he sort of saying about getting to 60, everybody gets their way to get 60. Steph is arguably the most heavily guarded player In all of nba, you think the coaching staff ain’t telling their players to adjust how to defend him or when he scored 60+.
KD is not a 3pt shooter. Just like curry isn't a mid range shooter. However, curry is an excellent mid range shooter just like durant is an excellent 3pt shooter. KD doesnt ever heat up from 3 and takes 10 3pt shots. He's taking shots where he breads his butter, in the mid range. KD knows he's not a volume 3pt shooter... he's also not a volume scorer. Kd is similar to lebron, they score 30-40 throughout the game because their natural gifts allow it
@@bboywolf Smt.
KD making excuses. Because Steph dropped 62 points with 2-3 players defending him.
They're different offensive players. Steph's off-ball movement is elite so that gets him open and Warrior basketball tries to take full advantage of that. Also, doesn't hurt that you have Draymond Green and Klay who love feeding Curry whenever he's heating up.
KD: seasoned elite hooper, lived and breathed basketball for decades, one of the greatest ever: this is what I observed in film
You: I disagree
It’s funny how people move the goal post and bring out stats and scoring titles to say one guy is a better scorer than another for one guy, then say it’s all eye test for another guy who doesn’t have as many stats or scoring titles as another if they like the guy better
Kevin Durant is a little bit like the Jon Jones of the NBA but if he could keep it in his pants. I mean that in terms of Kevin Durant being able to do pretty much anything and making the most out of his physical tools in such a skillful way. Art to watch that's why KD has been my number 1 player since I got into the league like 6 years ago he got me into basketball.
That’s a really good comparison. Both get a lot of hate too. Jones justifiably
So a smart Jon jones lol
@@YungPhilosopher okay go do it then 💀
@@YungPhilosopher sure bud😂😂
Ones a goat I his sport
He's so different now ever since he won his rings here in the bay. We miss Kevin but he sure does feel himself more than ever now. On behalf of dub nation...Your welcome.
KD making it seem like he the only player that makes coaches make adjustments lol. No KD! You haven’t scored 60 because YOU HAVEN’T scored 60. I’ve seen plenty of guys in the nba score 60 efficiently. Curry rarely gets open shots and he’s 6’3 KD, you think that’s easier?! 😄. Dame, Harden, Jordan… bro 😄. I’m just gonna stop. But KD is cold tho
The problem is u took the comment in a vacuum. If u combine what he said about coaching adjustments with them saying that he always makes the right play and doesn’t force anything it makes sense. Bc when Curry, Harden, etc. scores 60 they’re usually doing stepbacks from 35 with a hand in their face. Regardless of how efficient they are which Curry (for the most part) and Jordan? Yes. Not sure about the other 2 but they force shots that they probably shouldn’t that just go in anyway.
@@therandom58 I was about to comment. But it looks like you got it from here.
He has a point. I've been watching a lot of nets games this season. And not five minutes into the game and they're already double-teaming him. That doesn't happen with lebron and the rest of the league. I think it's only with Curry and KD that I've seen this tough defense.
Yea I don’t get what he was talking about because when a player is going off like that, the opposing coach is making constant adjustments to try to slow him down because it’s never a random role players but the super stars of the league, if a coach didn’t make any in game adjustments then he wouldn’t have a job, and about curry, he’s really working for them points too because he’s constantly moving, running off screens, off ball jukes to lose the defender, and at 6’3 being the greatest 3 point shooter ever, that’s all any team is trying to stop, and he still pours it over bigger and sometimes multiple defenders, kd is 7 ft with a 7’5 wingspan and 33 inch vertical, it’s easier for him to score than it is for curry at 6’3 with a 6’3 wingspan and 35 inch vertical, kd can shoot over most of the league cleanly even if they’re playing good defense and in his face
Love this podcast
So is JJ just going to tell every star player that comes on his Podcast that their the best? Because Giannis better get on their so he can be right for once haha
i mean they are in the nba so they are the best of the best
Ehh I don’t believe Giannis is better than Kevin Durant
@@kendallboultsjr I think he certainly is on KDs level I understand if you don’t think he’s better but giannas is as good as KD especially this year
This will be your biggest episode to date. Congrats!
KD talking like he didn't get wide open looks in GS...stop the cap!!!
The hell is you talkin bout, he was the best player on GS, his role was an iso scorer with the best defenders on him..
Nigga nothing in those finals was wide open nigga 98% of his shots was contested fool he was just shooting over niggas all game
Can't wait for the full episode 🔥🔥🔥💯
I think KD needs to make the adjustments. He's got the skill to easily score 60. Curry gets double and tripled way more but when he goes off, then he goes off big.
Curry does not get doubled and tried way more. He uses screens way more. He's inviting hedges and traps and he's not scoring on those.
@@brendanbloom3366 why are you lying lmao. Stephen Curry is statistically the most guarded player in the league. He IS always doubled and tripled. Lmao do you even watch the games.
@@nicoletaylor1497 do you even understand the game? Where's the stat? Getting trapped or hedged on a screen isn't even a real double and other players face the same defense they just don't use as many screens. Those screens also lead to open shots and mismatches.
@@brendanbloom3366 Just say you don’t watch basketball because Curry’s gravity is statistically proven. You’re just saying anything 😂.
@@brendanbloom3366 Because it seems that you don’t watch basketball, Curry’s gravity exist because of how he is guarded. Dating back to his college days, he has been guarded as such. In the NBA, he remains to be guarded as such. No other player in the league is guarded the way Curry is guarded. He is trapped before he crosses half courts majority of the games he plays. The other times, it happens as SOON as he steps half court. You don’t watch basketball, and that’s okay, but don’t sit here and lie. This is common knowledge. If you aren’t an average watcher you wouldn’t know this so I understand 😊
Every once and a while, I'll see someone comment about KD having a "quiet" 30+ or 40+ game. this is probably why.
You can watch an entire game live, see he's doing well, then still be surprised at the end when you see how many points and shot attempts he has.
