- Assassin's Creed Odyssey is over 5 years old now...Does that make you guys feel old or is it only me? I remember vividly when this game came out and how I felt about it. And almost 6 years later I now feel completely different about it then I did back then. This video is meant to be a quick revisit to Assassin's Creed Odyssey and how it holds up over 5 years later. I definitely hope to make a longer more in depth video for it later this year once I've had the opportunity to replay it in full...

Dawg why are these years flying by so fast 😭🙏
Don’t Cry. It is actually not almost 6 year since the release, actually 4. 2020 and 2021 never happened. It felt like I was in a coma for a very long time bc I clearly remember whole 2018 as the best year in my life ever, and if I would have known then that the year 2020 and 2021 never would have happened, I couldn’t have believe it and look where we are now
@@theswenglishgam3r808 true
Y'all really think time moving fast we just clued to social media and life online we forget there's a lot to do outside like going grab a blunt and hit the pool and flirt with someone's mother 😂
The older you get the faster time seems to go by.
Less eventful days , lack of things to learn , lack of social interaction and autopilot make life pass by faster , try to avoid those so you dont feel 20 by the time you die
Odyssey is the main AC game I always want to go back to for some reason. It's like the more time passes, the more I realize it's probably my favorite of the series. Looking back now, it really was a great game.
This and origins for me but I fucking hate Valhalla 💀
@@kingyoung5228Valhalla took years off my life, waste of time 🤣🤣
@@kingyoung5228 AC Origins is definitely an aging gem by now, loved it so much, wish it was a little longer. Odyssey, while it had little relevance to the AC story and not many opportunities for stealth and parkour, was definitely my favourite in terms of exploration, colour/appearance, and humour in some of the side quests. AC Valhalla was a strange one, I enjoyed the combat but my issue is that the story just dragged on making it longer than it needed to be.
Though Origins is my favorite in the series, followed by Black Flag and Revelations, I go back to Odyssey the most. It is just so easy to return just to roam and do random things such as simple fetch quests, quest boards, battles, clearing forts in stealth or combat, hunting, naval battles, mercenaries, etc. It is such an easy to play casually. Not to mention the Discovery Tour.
Same here the nostalgia hits with this game
playing odyssey was the happiest time of my life and i will always love it

I got corrupted save 3 times losing 20-25h progress each time.. and I still f*ing enjoyed it. About to install custom save to play all the eide content and DLCs (cuz save file again got corrupted, I'm cursed).
Happiest days of my life also (up there with FarCry 3)
And it is still beautiful
I went into Odyssey thinking of it as an openworld Greek warrior RPG and it was so enjoyable. It's a very gd game.
Valhalla as well
@@adarshsridhar6051 Yep
@@adarshsridhar6051no. Valhalla is nothing but a slog.
@@hanshotlast I disagree, it was the opposite for me. It had the best environment, graphics, world design, and a lot of great stuff all around. I never had a slog playing it and I have over 200 hours.
@@adarshsridhar6051graphics and all that is fine but gameplay is abhorrent and the game punishes you for being an assassin it's shit 😂😂
It may not have been a great “Assassin’s Creed” game, but it still was and is an amazing RPG game by itself. I didn’t think I would like the game, but I slowly got hooked on it and it is one of my favorites😅
I’ve always said that it’s a great game, just not a very good Assassin’s Creed game.
The soundtrack was lowkey underrated too
It is the worst rpg game ever, it's a mobile game.
i would say that its a great openworld action adventure game but a pretty bad rpg. the choices don't change how you experience the game, the only difference is who sits at the dinnertable at the end lol. well exept for that one mission on the first island with the sick family that actually had consequences. and it obviously should not have been under the name ac.
@@hamaguitar legit, it's not even close to being a good rpg
As an oldschool AC fan who refused to play the RPG ACs for a long time just out of principle: I JUST LOVE THAT GAME!
Yes you can see
2018 was definitely my favorite year for games!

I'm currently playing this for my second time and I'm absolutely loving it. The world is beautiful and captivating and I really enjoy the gameplay moment to moment. I often find myself just enjoying the scenery and beauty of the game world. Me and my wife have actually also played a lot of the Discovery Tour Mode and can absolutely recommend it as well.
Id love to find a woman who's into gaming!
Started it again in 2024 with the NG+ shredding everyone on Nightmare with versatile builds & enjoying the hell out of it btw originally I played it 4 years ago!
The crazy thing about it is that the rpg mechanics are what made this game addicting for me
The fact that you can really customize your character and tweak the gameplay to what you like made it so satisfying and encouraging for me to grind even more to this game
Also the fact there is always plenty of stuff to do in this game, pretty interesting side quests, bounty hunters chasing you down it is something that can keep you occupied as well
It allows you to enjoy the process
Odyssey is from my best games i ever played after gowr and the witcher 3
Idc what people say, AC Odyssey is amazing
Fav Ac game but I usually call it God of War prequel with all the godly powers 😂
Oh hell nah I understand if u said it was one of your favourite games but your favourite ac game bruh 💀
One of my favorites to man😌
@@leytonnc1047 The wierd thing about it is if you would remove the AC title from the game this game would have been praised. Maybe even for the AC Fanbase.
@@leytonnc1047 Its an amazing game. If it had better writing, had combat closer to Origins, it would have been the best rated game no doubt. Origins was so amazing that Odyssey just didn't do as good. Its slightly lesser in some ways but much better in others.
@@ac_nerd9794 odyssey is good as an RPG not as an assassin's creed game
Odyssey is my favorite AC game by far, coming from Skyrim being my fav game of all time, AC Odyssey just did everything right, combat was good, stealth was still good, story was pretty decent, boat combat was fun, better than skull and bones... and the settings were super cool, especially the Atlantis DLC. Its also a game I can recommend to people who never cared for AC games but love rpgs., and they really like it! I think its the best, but I'm hoping for RED to be even better.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
A .C RED is made the same team ac odyssey
Wow, I still love this game.
Odyssey is what brought me to this franchise, and I think it was a good idea to start here. At least it gave me a feeling of excitement when I wanted to play the older games. And by God, I still love those Odyssey jokes 😅
When you were at your initial stages like 10k or before I saw your channel ,man did I enjoy thos odyssey roasts, even now I sometimes revisit them cannot believe it is 5 years old.
Hi man just wanted to say how good and nice your content is I love your videos especially the stealth ones these are always nice to watch
Good video btw keep the good work up 😄👍
Time flies glad to see another amazing video
I started playing this again yesterday and was shocked to see 2 years passed since my last save. This was one of my favorite PS4 games.
I will never delete Odyssey from my system because it's a game I like to revisit from time to time like GTA games. There's always something new when I jump back in. Your description of why people like it is probably right. It's the Greek setting and the charm for me. It's one of those games that makes me feel cozy. I'm not stressed when I play it. Just feels like a fun game to run around and get lost in. If there is a fight, I can just destroy them as I'm pretty much a demigod.
After AC1 Odyssey is my favorite AC game and one of my top games of its console generation.
I just finished a full 100% 400+ hour run. I started last year after the final storyline dropped. I took my time exploring every last thing I could find. I can overlook the flaws for the overall experience of the game. I did not like it when it first launched. I love it now that I gave it the full attention I never had time for in the past. I still go back and play a few hours a week, on my 4th new game reroll.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
@@zicuvalentin2251 I went back and looked at my last save file. I have over 1200 hours now that I kept playing. The 400+ was just to get the 100% the first time around.
What a great game, i have so many hours on PS4 in this game and today i buy the ultimate edition for PC... I love it!
The music, the World, great DLCs, so many to do and so much to see....
For me that was a great Ubisoft era... Ghost Recon Wildlands, Far Cry 4 & 5, AC Odyssey, Watch Dogs 2...

I am actually playing this game for my first time on my steam deck and I am absolutely loving every minute of it, and I loved Origins too. Going into these games, from what my friends had said, I didn't think I would enjoy them but I got them on sale so I would take a shot at them. I'm really looking forward to Valhalla though, I know it's really frowned upon but I love viking and norse lore so I'm PUMPED!
Did t finish it and now I just restart it. And it’s beautiful.
I’m 27 now, I grew up playing AC games but also love Age Of Mythology and Greek culture, for me odyssey is the best of these worlds! ❤️
Oh same! I played it the first time blind and was awestruck by it, and I'm replaying it now after having fallen in love with all things ancient greece. It's nice to experience that again c:

I still play this game to this day. One of my favorite games of all time.
Odyssey is still my Favorite Video Game ever.
Yes, there are better ones out there, but as a whole Package, this Game has everything I love.
A huge, beautiful Open World with interesting Quests.
An emotional, character-driven Story.
The most customization Options in the Franchise, so many Build Variants, so many Fashion Choices.
A fantastic Score.
Great Voice Acting.
Fun, fast-paced & engaging Combat.
Stealth, while may not be mandatory, is incredibly satisfying, when you snuff out an entire Fortress without anyone noticing.
6 DLC Packs that add tons of Content & a free Epilogue Chapter, I'm very happy we got.
As someone who absolutely loves history and especially ancient history this game was was crazy fun to play! Nobody talks about all the detail they have, Easter eggs, references and actual history it’s super cool and really made me felt like I was living in that time. Even just vistinf the pyramids, wow! It was a great game

I just replayed this game during the Christmas holidays. Origins and Odyssey are fun RPG games
I really liked making builds in the game. The amount builds you can make with all of the engravings and skills is crazy. I did an animal playthrough a few months ago. Hell the amount of builds you can make with just animals is crazy.

One of the best RPGs in gaming history, it’s a shame the only conversations about the game were about its relevance to assassins creed
Love your video, and 5 years ago, that crazy
Got it as my first assassin’s creed game over winter break this year and I have loved it. It looks better than some games coming out this year😂
I love the Assassin's Creed series mainly because of the historical setting. I remember studying about the French Revolution in school while watching theRadBrad's gameplay of AC Unity and it felt amazing. I could visualise the storming of the Bastille. The various historical figures, King Louis and Marie Antoinette and even Château de Versailles.. Feels surreal.
It may not be a traditional AC game, but still adds a ton to the franchise, regarding Isu lore. I tink Odyssey is my second favourite AC game, after Brotherhood.
I have been waiting for five years for a positive review on this game from you. I saw those old videos that you used to play hating this game and I used to just turn you off. Every every game deserves a chance, and this assassin‘s Creed game for me was the best. I never played the old ones I started playing origins, and then Odyssey. I tried to play one of the old ones and I just hated the fighting mechanics, This is the kind of game you put in 300+ hours then you review it. Some CZcamsrs played a week right after the game came out and said they hated it. You can’t do anything in a week in this game. I hope to see another video showing that you played the entire game. That would be nice. Thank you.

Odyssey is not an AC game.
@@hamaguitar What you meant to say is it doesn’t play like one, but it is an ac game

Plus assassins didn’t exist in Odyssey time. Alexios/kassandra are the near godly ancestors subject 16’s memory was talking about in AC2, it matches AC2 canon very nicely that they are demigods basically.
Best AC title for me. It`s the only one i keep on going back.
So underrated game. Even if it has zero parkour, it had stealth along with godly powers, gladiator fights, massive map, land and sea, usual assassin creed stuff and my favorite: War. I was basically a king maker. I made the whole map under spartan control except Athens And bounty hunters of course, I recruit the best 😂
One of the best games of all time hacks down I love assassins creed been playing since Enzo days
I’ve just started playing this 3 days ago, first time playing an assassin’s creed game, and this is now one of my favourite games of all time
the tour stuff in origins and odyssey helps a lot plus my history teacher used it to teach the class
I spent the first week of the game doing all the tours.
Feels like origins was out yesterday.. how fast time goes
What a great game, first time playing it, currently level 91 "nightmare" difficulty setting. 260 hours in. When I finish Atlantis dlc I'm going to do a NG+. that's going to be another 250 hours, max out everything.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
Odyssey is probably my favorite assassins creed game so much to do along with the main story some of the dialog got changed I noticed with the last update playing for the expansion trophies I missed last time and the ps5 experience last time I did a full playthrough was on ps4 pro 👍
In your video about the degradation of cutscenes I commented the following. I think it fits very well under this video:
My parents got me a gift and it was a bundle with Origins and Odyssey combined (two disks in one cover). So far I’ve played Origins and it was amazing. Currently I’m level 11 in Odyssey and though I don’t feel like it’s got anything to do with Assassins. If you scrap that ‘Assassins Creed’ label it’s actually an absolutely wonderful game. I play on normal difficulty to keep the RPG elements (like damage sponges and constant loot swapping) in check and it honestly works really well. For the decline in cutscene quality. I can definitely notice the difference. Odyssey has a lot of clunky moments and unlike Origins where I could absolutely appreciate every single cutscene here in Odyssey I only really appreciate a couple of them ones in a while. However the ones in Odyssey that are good look absolutely fantastic (as long as you burry that AC label lol). And for rest the cutscenes honestly don’t really bother me. I just listen to what Herodotos tells me (which is often very interesting as someone very much interested in Ancient Greece) and I enjoy the story. Still I would very much appreciate it if they would return the Origins cutscenes. Definitely adds to the experience.
I recently started playing Valhalla and i love it so much ! Thinking to try this after.
Odyssey is the most fun I’ve had playing an AC game since Black Flag. Tbh the AC formula has been stale to me for a long time so I love that it doesn’t feel like a typical AC game
I was mixed on Odyssey when it came out but RDR2 came out around that time too so RDR took my attention away from Odyssey. I went back to it a few times but finally finished it in 2021. I had just got my first 4K tv and the 60fps patch had come out. I played on my PS5 and realized how fun and beautiful the game is. Greece is so stunning and I had a blast. Its such a cool setting too that doesn't get explored much. I had so much fun I finished the game and jumped right into the both DLC. I did all of Valhalla and the first 2 DLC right after (Dawn of Ragnarok wasn't out). I have no idea how I didn't get burnt out.
Still can't believe its been over 5 years because the game still looks great.
Assassins Creed Odyssey was maybe never a fully assassins Creed but it’s more one of the freer and more creative ones and that makes it good
Origin and odyssey are the reason I started playing those games and I love the rpg thing.
AC 1 was technically my first game, but I was young and thought it was boring, just recently of last year I picked up Odyssey and started playing it, still am cause damn this game is HUGE! What's weird is that this game actually got me into the AC games, after playing this I picked up AC 1 again and I was almost shocked at the Night and Day difference of the two. Now in 2024 I am obsessed with this series and love all the games, all because of this one RPG Creed.
I never played assassin greed and this will be the first game I get. I’m downloading it now can’t wait
How is it so far? Are you liking it?
please not assassins GREED
Been playin this again with my PlayStation portal LOVE IT
Playing Odyssey heaps lately on my Alienware M15 hooked up to a Odyssey G51C monitor.
first game I played that actually hooked me, and I can credit it for my love of games in general, it led me to the og trilogy, Skyrim, red dead 1&2, the Witcher, GTA 4&5. it may not be a standard AC game, the damage sponges were a mix of funny and frustrating, the dialogue options were witty clever and it taught me my favourite word of all time Malaka! (I'm not sure how to spell that) so by my books its pretty alright.
My point of view of Odyssey is like a challenge, what will and can you do to execute missions etc. in a way where hidden ones will act.
It was 2021 when I had finished my play through of Odyssey (story, DLCs, and achievements) and I had started playing the vacation storyline at the start of this year.
Some of my pros and cons with this game:
+Greece is beautiful and detailed
+Boss fights are fun
+Lots of customization options
+Multiple enemy types to fight
+Barnibas is a great quartermaster and character
+Lots of historical Greek characters to interact with and Greek monsters to confront
+Cultist system is fun
+3 new open worlds to explore in the Fate of Atlantis DLC
+Shows lots of tragedy whether it be with Kassandra/Alexios or with other characters or civilians you interact with
-Leveling up takes longer than it should
-Too high resource requirements to upgrade gear and ship
-Tone is too goofy
-The camps and tombs feel the same
-Dialogue choices are mostly pointless especially with romances
-Mission structure is repetitive with making players do 3 of something constantly
-Enemies are damage sponges
-No confession scenes from the targets
-No guaranteed instant kills even if you are the same level or higher than certain enemies
+\-Lots of gear and weapons to pick from
+\-Bounty hunter system is challenging
Odyssey is definitely not one of my favorite games in the series with how grindy and repetitive and unfair it gets but it has a beautiful open world and offers a lot in gameplay and exploration. And while it is goofy it is also tragic.
I started Playing Assassin Creed games yesterday 😂, my first game is Ac odyssey and Ac Origins, I absolutely love Ac Odyssey
Odyssey is still my favourite AC game that i keep going back to
If you think of Odyssey as an Isu spinoff story, it becomes a lot easier to consider it a part of the franchise. Like Prometheus to the Alien franchise.
In AC Odyssey, you're:
- Free to go for a Tank Build
- Free to go for a Combat Build
- Free to go for a Stealth Build
- Free to go for a Critical Build
- Free to go for a Base Damage Build
- Free to go for an Ability Build
And that's just from what I can remember from back then!
Bro it feels like i baught it yesterday
Odyssey is a great game and alot of people didn't give it the proper time to let to enjoy it
finally dude gives this game the respect it deserves, i played all of them and this game is good in everything you could want in a open world
People do be complaining like “It aint an assassin’s creed game. You have no assassination missions there.”
And tbh. If i did not read a comment saying that…. I wouldnt even notice. 😂 i was so deeply invested into this game that I real 💩 didnt even notice im missing hidden blade or assassination missions.
And to me… thats a proof of Odyssey being one hell of a good game.
The amount of detail put into the working of this world is mind boggling.
I once found myself on a farm on the island of Euboea just before the crack of dawn. There was no one around. Then as it became lighter, you could see clouds of mist forming over water bodies on the farm. As the sun came over the horizon, goats and asses came out of their pens to graze. Then workers came out on the farm. In a nearby worker howel, you could see workers sawing wood, repairing huts and so forth, in full detail . Then I accidentally ran into a rooster who started attacking me. Then all of a sudden, some passing Spartan soldiers saw the rooster and immediately put it down and went on their way... The workers stopped their work to see these goings on, then went back to their work.
...and all I had to do to see all this happen was just pass by the farm.
There are times when I just stand in one place to see things going on in the game. And someone put in tremendous efforts to craft this living, breathing world.
6 years is crazy
To my son it built his school life as they just did Ancient Greece and when we went to parents evening we learned that he knew more than his teacher is somethings and he is replaying it now
For me, this is the game I fell in love with.

Not as an assassins creed game but as Greek rpg it’s incredible
This is one of my favourites of the series. Might be even in top 3 😅. It's the first game I played two years ago on my new ps 5 after a 10-year break from gaming >.
I never really liked AC games but I just fell in love with the world in Odyssey, it is one of my favorite games along with Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone.

I liked oddysey, then I disliked oddysey, but oddysey is the perfect description of "nothing is true, everything is permitted" so now I like oddysey, it was the fist ac game I played and the only ac games I haven't played are 1, 3, rogue, syndicate and mirage
I remember years ago there was a free trial for Odyssey, i played on ps4, when the trial ended i bought it and played some hours. I hated the game, i didnt touch until a few weeks ago, i continued playing and i actually enjoyed it
I know it doesn’t necessarily feel like a AC game but the combat was SO good and I loved it as a “stand alone”
This was the second assassin creed game I played so it was fun
My fav 2018 games
1) AC Odyssey
2) DB Fighter Z
3) RDR2
For some reason I have chosen this as the first AC game that I will complete the main story. I tried black flag but didn't get far , sure it might take me months to do. But I am usually looking for a good game to casually chip away and chill without having to rush to avoid being spoiled.
I hated oddysey upon release. Its now my favorite game of all time. To me its the most complete open world game. Theres so much to do and new game plus makes the game never ending

I like how you mention witcher 3. Odyssey was my first AC game, I went into it thinking "this looks like a witcher clone and i loved witcher so ill probably like it", and i did like it a lot. Ive since played 3, 4, origins, and valhalla but odyssey is still my favorite.
I really recommend playing the classic games. 1, 2, Brotherhood and Revelations are great and their parkour is the best in the series
maybe one day. i already own unity and syndicate but havent played yet, so those will be next for me@@WideOldDan
@@WideOldDan I think Unity parkour is better than 1,2, brotherhood and revelations tbh unless you're playing on modded versions where they people have modded more smooth parkour mechanics.

I don't really have a dog in the fight on where I stand with Odyssey since I've never played it but I can still appreciate the visuals. It's looks great even by today's standard
It is still the greatest game of all time, even up to this date.
Bro when is codename red coming ?
I've spent 700+ hours in this game for me best Ac ever with brotherhood. I've finished the whole game on nightmare diff. , full stealth(except for forced combat), no ability. You just have to do %100 crit chance crit dmg build. If you wanna play full stealth you have to use "ikaros" because there is no other possibility and this is for me only negative thing. Btw DLC's was perfect about AC lore.
Played ODYSSEY 3000h...😂😂😂
I've only played AC Valhalla. I will very likely be buying Odyssey this week... CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm a big fan of Norse & Greek mythology & history so hopefully Odyssey delivers because Valhalla certainly did for me.
I played odyssey after a long ass time of not playing assassin’s creed(since I was in 6th grade and I’m 19 now) it threw me for a loop cause it was so different from what I knew. I think looking at it with those fresh eyes though gave me the chance to enjoy it for what it was instead of projecting my own expectations on it. That and my love for greek mythology got me to love the game despite its flaws. I kinda just separate this type of ac game from the old and I play whatever depending on the mood I’m in.
Also now that I think about it, black flag kinda dipped their toes in the open world type of ac game it’s a beautiful blend imo
Aah your favourite AC game!
It's definitely one of my top favorite Assassin's Creed games.
I remember when it was launch and im seeing negative reviews with it as not an ac game and also one of those who hate the game become but during my playthrough of ACOd i set the difficulty to easy so that the enemies is not spongy and it really feel like the old games even in this settings npcs take much damage which i really love that its balanced also i wanted to be openminded I have in my mind to play it as a demigod (isu blood/heroes journey) folktale in a world of assassin lore in the beginning, I wanted to be a hero of Greece like the myths the choices I make during playthrough using Kassandra as canon really works and I don't used over the top abilities to break immersion I wanted it to be as grounded as possible with little hints of her power and I just used it later in dlc as a human mercenary way up into being a demigod by the end of dlc, I enjoyed it very much, the game really defines on how you play the game to be able to enjoy it. I think I play the game the way it meant to be played, I play all the ac and the game and Kassandra is in my top 5 list in the franchise. Kassandra is a well written char if you really understand her character of course it depends on the choices you make during playthrough.
