I’ve watched about 20-30 videos to try to understand camera/photography basics as I’m just getting into it, and this video explained things miles better than any of the others. Thank you so much
GREAT FOR BEGINNERS! This was fantastic, overview and my understanding: 1. Aperture affects background 2. Shutter speed affects movement, and how much light is allowed in 3. ISO affects light, magic potion to bring more light if needed. Simple, subscribing now !
The eye analogy, real time examples explaining what setting work best situationally. 10/10, I’m excited and feel confident to go and purchase a camera and try things out referencing this video.
I've been shooting for less than a year, and I say this is a great explanation. I watched a lot of other videos about the exposure triangle. I already understood it prior to watching this, but I was looking for the best video to recommend to an absolute beginner. This is definitely the one I'm sharing.
As a Communication major who concentrated on TV/Film production, you explained this better than any of my professors. For years I struggled to grasp a down-to-earth concept on how to memorize these basic components. You did an amazing job in 14 minutes. I'm trying to alter my couple channel to have a more cinematic look similar to yours. Thanks for the guidance. #619journey - Sandrea
😊😊 thanks a lot for your kind words. It means a lot, because sometimes you think you're making sense, but it doesn't always resonate with an audience. So knowing that even one person found it helpful is a big deal. Good luck with your channel.
Nice but a bit tough for newbies. Explaining aperture and shutter with the eye analogy was great. Try sowing more examples and diagrams to explain.Still very good.
I’ve watched dozens of videos about this and I have a good understanding when it comes to video. However, you’ve just unlocked the inner photographer in me. You explained that so well, a real lightbulb moment. You should copyright your explanation lol! Thanks bro, I always look forward to your videos!😎👊🏾
Thanks for saying that, it means a lot. I tried to explain as best as I understand it. However you never know if other people will see it the same way. So glad to hear the video resonated with you 🙏🏽
I've watched a lot of videos lately regarding the exposure triangle. Had a hard time understanding smaller number bigger openings etc. The way you broke it down into fractions really helped me understand why smaller ment bigger and bigger ment smaller. Thank you
Transitioning from a career in law to documentary filmmaking and of course taking the self-teaching approach. After so many attempts of trying to understand this, your video is the only one that has made sense for my way of learning. You had analogies and visual examples, properly timed. I took notes! Thanks so much for this and shout out to a fellow Jamaican (based on your accent, hopefully im not wrong :) )
Hey man, I'm actually in the process of transitioning as well to a videography career and taking the self-teaching approach. You left his comment a few months ago, so I hope things have progressed since then
Loved the eye analogy, fantastic description. This is exactly how I’m going to explain it to people that don’t understand what I’m doing from now on. Thank you.
WOW! The mechanic of photography has always been difficult for my mind to understand. You broke down the mechanics and communicated them is such an easy and understandable way. I GET IT NOW!!! Thank you so much! You are a great teacher!!!
Yo the clarity on this accompanied by such striking analogies and detail is next level bredda. Thank you! I've watched other channels with quite helpful videos but I must say yours was very special. Big up yuhself!
Thank you so much for this!! This makes so much sense! I’ve really been struggling to understand this and I’ve spent almost a year researching and watching videos. I finally understand it. I’ve got this on loop so it really sticks in my brain. But thank you. This is going to help soo much ❤
Awesome! Glad to hear that!! I'm currently working on a follow up to this for video. But maybe also a couple other break out videos going into each individual part of the triangle a bit more in depth.
Hello, although a photographer I thought my son would listen better to an instruction video. Nice to meet you and I look forward to my son learning from you….
this is the video i send people when they ask questions on camera settings, or how to properly expose, how to use manual mode, what does aperture do to my images. excellent video
UP Mi Boss!!! I wish I hand four hands to give the video 4 THUMBS UP. This was spot on. My understanding of this topic, prior to this video, was remedial at best. I feel leveled up with this fresh understanding of the topic. So thanks, Respec! and big-up u-self.
Awesome job explaining your subject. As a fledgling to the photography world I found this to be the most valuable of the numerous videos that I've viewed on this very topic. You've got my attention, my thumbs up and my subscription. Thanks for taking the time to produce such quality content.
Thank you SO much for making this video. I'm an extremely novice photographer and couldn't wrap my head around the exposure triangle. This makes it make so much sense and I feel like I have such a good grasp on it now!
Thanks broo for this great job. I want to know more further about aperture in term of delpth of field; to have a very blury background again your subject, will the value number increase or decrease? For shutter speed in term of movement, if you want to have a clear image on motion, will the shutter value increase or decrease?
Thanks for watching. That's a tricky question to answer. Like I said in the video, aperture and shutter speed are expressed as fractions so bigger and smaller can seem counterintuitive. Like F2 is bigger than F4, because it's F/2 and F/4. All that said. When you're in your camera: smaller F stop numbers give you blurrier back grounds (1.4, 2, 2.8 etc). And for shutter 'larger' numbers for capturing motion: 1/250, 1/1000 etc.
Little correction: iso does not change your exposure. The amount of light hitting the sensor stays the same but the sensor signal (including the noise) gets boosted. Increasing the iso has basically the same effect on your image as brightening it up afterwards in photoshop. The only ways to control the amount of actual light hitting the sensor (and thus change the exposure) are aperture and shutter speed.
A very important thing to realize is that in fact....No, ISO is not part of exposure. Shutter Speed and Aperture brighten your photo by physically capturing more light. Which is the amount of light falling on your sensor. ISO doesn't do that; instead, it essentially increases or decreases the sensitivity of your cameras sensor. So, don't consider it to be a component of the actual exposure.
This is awesome content! I am trying to figure out how to set up a multi cam recording where 3 cameras and lights are constantly relocated from scene to scene. How to match exposure, iso and white balance on the cameras? Would be awesome if you could make a video about that!
Hi thanks for watching. I don’t have a specific video for exactly what you’re talking about. However with the principles from this video on exposure and this one on custom white balance: czcams.com/video/mUlnH44twwA/video.html It should point you in the right direction. What type of cameras are you using?
@@CreativeTechLab Hey man, thank the reply, highly appreciated! I will either rent 3x a7iii or a7c - each camera with the 24-105 f4 lens and the same B&W vario nd filter. I am trying to get it right from the start before trashing out money for the rental, unfortunately I won't have xs time to experiment ahead. Video settings will be 4k 24/50, HLG2, iso set 100.
No one can explain it because it is impossible, hand held meters and exposure disc's, were...... not triangular. And exposure is computed from light and iso so we now have a weird triangle 😩

どういたしまして 😀
Do you do 1 on 1 classes by any chance?
I don't. But I'm sure there's someone out there that does.
ISO is how sensitive your sensor
Shutter speed concerns speed
Aperture is a hole which can be adjusted for lights to create image
Thanks for your write up
Wolmerian!
Bless up!
Always and ever when i to use that rules, my photos get worst so i prefer auto mode. Ever works well
Once you use manual mode you’ll get used to manipulating ur camera for better results
I have a better understanding of Exposure.

I definitely searched for photography for dummies 😅
