I am gonna be a weeb and translate what the JP dubbed it to. And no, I'm not perfect. This is just to the best of my weeb abilities.
Anakin: I don't want to hear any more about Obi-Wan. The Jedi betrayed me. You wouldn't either.
Padme: I do not know you anymore. Anakin... you're tearing me apart. I can't go down this path you went down.
Anakin: Because of Obi-Wan?
Padme: No, because of what you have done. What you are planning. Stop. Come back with me. I love you.
Anakin: Don't you lie!
Padme: No.
Anakin: Traitor! You brought him here to kill me!
Padme: No!
Obi-Wan: Let her go! Enough! Let her go!
Anakin: You got her to betray me!
Obi-Wan: You have done that yourself.
Anakin: I won't let you take her from me!
Obi-Wan: Your anger and lust for power have already achieved that. You have allowed this dark lord to twist your mind... until you have become the adversary you swore to defeat.
Anakin: Spare me your lectures. I have already seen through the lies of the Jedi. I do not fear the dark side unlike you. I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new empire.
Obi-Wan: Your new empire?
Anakin: Don't make me kill you.
Obi-Wan: I swore my allegiance to the republic, TO DEMOCRACY!
Anakin: If you are not an ally, then you are my nemesis.
Obi-Wan: Only Siths deal in absolutes. I will do what I must.
Anakin: Of course you will.
*scene cuts*
Obi-Wan: I have let you down, Anakin. I failed you.
Anakin: If I only have known that the Jedi were plotting to take over.
Obi-Wan: Anakin, Chanceller Palpatine is evil.
Anakin: No, from my perspective it's the Jedi who are evil.
Obi-Wan: You are far lost!
Anakin: Master, this is your end.
Obi-Wan: You have lost! I have the high ground!
Anakin: Do not underestimate my power!
Obi-Wan: Don't try it. You were the chosen one! You were supposed to destroy the Sith and yet you joined them. To bring balance to the force and not leave it in darkness.
Anakin: I HATE YOU!
Obi-Wan: I thought you were my little brother. I loved you.
_Is it possible to learn this weeb power?_

yep, in real accounts, samurai's are the second most dishonorable with the monks being the first.
a lot of betrayal are associated with opposite clans or betraying their lord.
monks often defied diplomacy deals because they're "above" feudal laws and their buddhism is sacred (especially the ikko ikki monks).
it's ironic that the ninja's in history are the most "honorable" since they act as mercenaries and pledged more in their life to their lord/employer rather than the retainers.
one famous account is the ninja that protected nobunaga in an ambush by firing a musket to the other ninja after nobunaga retreated and outnumbered in the battle with the takeda.
This makes me want to hear the entire movie in Japanese.
I watched the entire prequel trilogy in Japanese. Completely changes the tone of all the movies, even the horrendous writing in Phantom Menace hit differently.
anakin is much better in it. Obi Wan isnt as good though cause his inflections go missing a lot of the time in the japanese dub. Worth a watch high though, makes everything really hype if you pretend its an anime

Some of the lines dont hit as hard as the og english, but they chose a perfect VA for anakin. Really nails his inflections and such
Yes, but I wish Anakin didn't use *"boku"* _(mainly used by boys)_ , but *"ore"* _(mainly used by late teens and men)_ when referring to himself. Especially since he's 21 years old in ROTS, and not a kid anymore.
@@ReonMagnum That and from what I’ve heard, “ore” is a less formal way of saying “I” when compared to the more polite “boku,” and can even make someone sound rather arrogant in certain contexts. And Anakin is anything but humble and formal for the majority of the time that you see him.
@@foreignroninl1555 Yes, that's why in Rurouni Kenshin, Kenshin refers to himself as "ore" when he's really angry. Normally he uses "sessha", which is a formal pronoun the Samurai use.
@@ReonMagnum Make sense given the differences between Kenshin's normal personality and that of his Battosai mode.
Also on that note, I can't help but wonder what it would be like if Kenshin was a Star Wars character. He'd probably be a former dark jedi assassin who joined the Jedi Order in an attempt to escape his former life, but he frequently finds himself in situations where he's on the verge of regressing fully into his old personality and becoming consumed by the Dark Side of the Force.
As for translating his Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu kenjutsu over to the different forms of lightsaber combat, I haven't seen enough of his fighting style to make a proper assessment, but I know that the supplemental art of Trakata could be used in place of his training in Battojutsu.
No joke... I almost cried. Those Japanese voice actors nailllllled those lines. Made the original dialog punch harder
i still think Ewan McGregor fits obiwan better, and ''i hate you'' was said better by hayden
It's better when one of the actors speaks Japanese.
The way Anakin said “if you’re not with me then you’re my enemy” was ice cold.

As one great Russian CZcamsr said, "Prequel Trilogy works the best with Japanese dub. All the flaws of the trilogy are non-existent when you watch it like an Anime"
And he is so damn right
I disagree but cool
Let me explain why that is a problem. Anime is treated as something that’s inherently low quality. So saying it’s best to watch it as an anime is really an insult to the medium. It’s saying the prequels are bad and anime is bad and if it’s inherently bad it’s a shield from criticism. Netflix has been using it to avoid criticism for their awful cartoons for years by calling castelvania and dragons dogma anime. And is inherently
You see it a lot in video game spaces. No recognizably Japanese game gets widespread praise it’s called anime and shoved to the side for western games. Only Mario, Zelda and dark souls get taken seriously for having aesthetic that don’t immediately show that they are Japanese
@@PunishedPrince The OP statement isn't an indication of quality, merely that Japanese suits the style of dialogue used in this film, which seems more stilted in English to many. In contrast, the Japanese delivery flows much better with the simplistic script.

This actually works so well on a deep level because Star Wars is based in part on old Samurai movies, with the Jedi being based on Budhist monks. It feels right. Also never noticed his eyes slowly turn yellow as he looks up at Obi-Wan at the end, you can see the anger, hatred, but also sadness, pain and fear all take over.
As a young kid you really don't understand the gravity of the situation though you understand the events that take place . Into adulthood you deal with the many challenges and downfalls of betrayal, lies deceit, being ostracized , paranoia and it makes the scene feel different more personal.

I've lived in Japan before, the Japanese pride themselves on their craft. 100% in everything they do, and it REALLY shows itself here!
@Haxkarl good point bro
Try Polish ones, we have this weird thing where some things seem deep while other's sound like treating yourself way too seriously, English dub is actually middle scale of how it could be. Japanese sells it because speech patterns align and they usually use such descriptive language normally which is why it doesn't look too forced compared to English.
Maybe because of the way they speak it, syllabic or idk make it poetic
It's probably because of the emotional quality of their voice acting

i havent seen the original rots in AWHILE, and i also do not speak japanese, but my own opinions:
i prefer how desperate and delusional hayden sounds in the pre-fight dialogue. daisuke has a rougher? deeper? voice than him, which makes him sounds (to me) a lot more sure in his “i have brought freedom justice whatever to my new empire” line. though, in the lava surfing scene, i love how emphatic he is there.
obi-wan was a huge surprise, i feel like his voice would fit qui-gon! though, i suppose he is anakin’s “qui-gon”, but morikawa is quite different from ewan. very interesting. his voice is a lot deeper than this anakin, too, so the contrast is quite fun. he sounds much harsher in some places where ewan sounded more saddened (IT’S OVER, ANAKIN, I HAVE THE HIGH GROUND.).
