if you love cafe hopping, exploring cute cafes, ordering coffees, matchas and all that jazz, this week's video is for you! copenhagen is the ultimate cafe city with lots of cute cafes - not to mention the scandinavian minimalist architecture which is my favorite!
this week's vlog has everything from pastries, matchas, blueberry pancakes, avodaco toast and many more! i love exploring cafes so this city has been an absolute dream (the next on my cafe bucket list would probably be korea!). we hit most of the famous spots in copenhageb such as the iconic Anderson & Maillard, Bottega Barlie, Buka Bakery and more! The upscale type bakeries have become pretty popular in Copenhagen. Most of them have been started by former Noma Restaurant employees.
There are all extremely good at what they do. Places like Juno, Buka, Hart and Anderson & Maillard are especially popular. While quite a lot of Danes also visit these places regularly, most of the pastries may be available in most local bakeries as well, although probably not in the shapes that are offered in the mentioned places. Regarding flavor, there is not a great deal of difference between what you get in these new popular bakeries and local bakeries. The main difference is the price.
However, it should be said that if you are looking for exceptionally good bread, and Hart bakery will probably be able to satisfy your cravings.
Danes in general mostly eat a lot of bread and mostly the darker variants like rye bread or bread with a very high content of fibers. White bread, sometimes known as toast bread, is not really a main stable in Denmark. A variety of buns are popular choices in Denmark.
The most common pastries Danes usually buy, when we eat pastries are the Spandauer (The Baker's infected eye), the Tebirkes and the Kanel Snegl (Cinnamon Snail).
The place to go if real opulent cakes are the desired things, you cannot go wrong with La Glace in Copenhagen.
One good thing that has sprung out of the New Nordic Cuisine is the never ending search for the perfect combination of local produce. The result of this is that there are endless exciting dishes to be explored in various cafes etc. today compared to 30 years ago.
