I really love the idea of Krampus "taking over" Santa's role by using his face as a mask
I'm really glad they went with the practical effects. This looks really good.

That's a really cool design choice, making Krampus a demon that's kinda wearing an old guy's face. Unfortunately not all that notable in the movie, but he still looked really goddamn cool.

@@SirKolass yea when I saw it, I thought it was just lazy puppeteer not making his face move that showed in the movie. Took another viewing to realize it was a mask (I wasn’t the brightest teenager at the time lol)

They did such a great job with their version of Krampus,I've watched many videos of Krampusknaught parades, and he reminds me greatly of the people from the parades and their costumes

Are you kidding me?! When did Krampus's face ever look like Santa Claus with a dislocated jaw? Watch the Krampus episode from American dad, THATS the best portrayal of an anatomically correct Krampus.

+Critic Fan they did point out that the face is actually a macabre mask that the real face is wearing. That said, we still don't know what the real Krampus looks like other than his eyes and mouth behind the "mask".

+HonorAmongScars right?! out of all the monsters they had in the movie with a mask, they had to slap a painfully obvious one on Krampus? how would krampus know what his counter parts' face looks like if he was describe in the movie as " a more ancient and dark spirit?"
bottom line: Krampus' full body design looks incredibly intimidating , but his face looks like an awkwardly bad joke that you want to fix but you don't want to tell him it.
I would kill for that costume.

It would be cool if professional puppeteers went out in the real costumes for the movies on Halloween. Like, they would casually walk around the neighborhood with these.

Santa and Krampus aren’t enemies. Krampus is Santa’s co-worker. Everything Krampus does in the movie is exactly what Santa WANTS him to do.

I wish that the fact that Krampus was basically wearing the dead face of Santa Claus was a little more obvious in the movie. I didn’t even realize until now. I always wondered why his mouth was open and why it didn’t move, makes sense now

that's the joke,krampus made the mask and put's it on for the EXACT purpose of making fun of santa,considering that the yule tide season belonged strictly to krampus before santa and jesus came along so i wouldn't doubt that krampus would go out of his way just make fun of one of his biggest replacement's.

The leg extensions are actually more clever than you think. A lot of animals have backward facing legs not because they have two knees, but rather because their feet have to be positioned in the same way the actor's foot is placed in the extender.

close but no, it was actually confirmed by the director himself to be the face of an old drunkard who played santa in a mall but liked to abuse the kids so krampus found him and ripped his face off and wore it as a mask!glad to clear things up for you. :)

So what's even weirder is that the size of the guys face seems to have enlarged once Krampus took it. Now either that's from him wearing it or from Krampus being in the cold all the time.

I've seen a lot of different Krampus movies and this one not only is it a badass look I love it but this is the only fim of Krampus that made it to the big screens i wish they make a sequel to this film

In real life, Krampus isn't that scary in person but in the movie then he is scary and he even looks like Santa Claus.

Krampus jumping was just CGI the actual costume is to heavy to jump that high
Right before the chase between him and Beth, it's actually him in costume sitting on top of a roof set. After that, it's all a CGI Krampus jumping and running.

There is only one Krampus comic and I don't remember that part at all....
well,i heard there are different version's all over the world,though there all supposed to be based off of "krampus:the shadow of saint nicholas." in one version it was an old war veteran that krampus killed for the fun of it(or something like that),in another version it was some guy who literally tried to become santa and in YET ANOTHER version (the most evil one) it was supposed to be santa himself and in the version i got it was a friggin child rapist!! so there you have it. :)

The movie Antlers took the same concept of the monster (Wendigo) concealing its real face behind a dead human skin mask. I recommend, it's way more gruesome and gory.

okay so the best thing you can do when you're making a film, ESPECIALLY a horror film, is barely show hints of the monster. little hints. ALSO, you have to make believable characters with flaws, quirks, complexity, and things that make them feel unique. another thing that I would try out is GET SOMEONE WHO IS GOOD WITH MUSIC AND HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION WITH THEM FROM THE START! this is why black panther was so good, or the original robin hood. look at videos about the original ALIEN film and study that film. get a good editor too, THAT IS ESSENTIAL, because editing can make or break a film extremely easily. (one trick I would use is to take long takes and an eerie atmosphere. or have very subtle creepy things in some frames) also, an essential part is you gotta have meaning. it really can't just be another horror movie of the modern age. I mean look what they did with GET OUT. or Jacob's Ladder... THAT'S ANOTHER FILM YOU GOTTA STUDY! Jacob's ladder is oozing with subtle things and camera tricks you can learn about. if you have any other questions, just ask me. anything about camera tricks or optical illusions, to controversial philosophy or even writing. hope that helped
