  • Beet Pulp for Dairy Cattle - In this weeks video we are stockpiling dry and wet beet pulp. The beet processing season typically ends late April/early May; stockpiling the pulp allows us to continue to feed beet pulp throughout the summer when it's not available.
If you have any questions about this week's video, leave them in the comments, and I will post a Q&A video on Sunday if needed. Thanks for watching!

Hi Piet, as usual, great video, great content. Very instructif. Nice to see some action too! Your videos are enjoyable as you don‘t expose your daily portion of breakdowns and misery as other farmer channels often do too much! Keep going and many blessings to your family!

Good morning! Thanks for the video. Back in the 40s and 50s I grew up next to a dairy farm in Butler County, Ohio. It was a registered Holstein heard and said to be the largest in South Western Ohio and it seems strange to say this now, but the milked 42 cows in a stanchion barn. I remember the old cold water cooler and the 10 gallon milk cans. They later put in a small bulk tank, but ya still carried the milk to the milk house. I remember they, at some point, brought in bags of dries beet pulp and would put it in a metal cart to soak with water and and it on top of the ground feed. I had never seen that before and forgot until you reminded me.

Thanks for your earlier response to my question about the odor in the manure shed. I am amazed that you feed beet pulp. I am not up-to-speed on beet processing to sugar, but your comments about pelletizing the pulp caused me to look those up and it shows it is a popular horse feed. I am learning a lot from you. THANKS!

Hey Piet, Greetings from the Netherlands. I think it is a good idea to use an agbag for those beet pulp. Maybe you can mixx with the the dry stuf. 75% dry beet and 25% wet beet and then bale it. It will be less wett. Try a couple with a bale first before you use a agbag

Thanks Piet. Have you used a wheel tractor to pack those piles? Better compaction. Enjoy your videos

I really enjoy watching your videos very informative. One question how much of that beet pulp do you feed and does it make it better being covered to make it better feed

Ag bags work best for us beacuse we only feed 1 ton/day. A tractor with a packer is included when deliveries take place, so all we need to do is cover the end of the bags.

Hallo Piet. Love your videos!
