  • In this video we're making a set of dice based on Gyorik Rogdul, or as you may know him as, York. York is from the series Drawtectives, where a bunch of artists play characters, draw pictures, and try to solve a mystery. I plan on expanding to some other pieces of media once I'm done with this set of videos, so if you have ideas for what I should make dice based on next, let me know in the comments!

Always loved the effect of a blank in clear resin! And that gold really gives them a zing, love it!

I love the gold spatter! And apparently, the difference between spatter and splatter is that spatter is scattering small particles of substance and to splatter is to scatter large particles of a substance

    York dice, York dice! 💖
Such a shame that he won't know what number he rolled since he can't read.
(I'm actually not sure if that extends to not being able to read numbers. Don't come for me Drawtectives Lore Squad!)

Pretty sure we do know that he can't count past 2, but I might be wrong

Hi! Beautiful dices! they look so perfect. I'm trying to do my dices as well, I have a question for you : How do you deal with imperfections? like edges imperfections or some faces of the dice that have a little excess of resin? I know that I'm human and not a machine but I'm trying to do a clear and perfect work as possible

      It depends, really.
If the dice are unusable, I just put them in a box I have of failed dice (and then I have a bin of random good dice that I put the rest of the set into that I then sell individually at in-person events). If they're usable but have a pretty noticeable flaw, I'll either keep them for myself, or makes sure that I mention/show it in the listing for it. Sometimes things can be fixed- raised faces can be sanded down with some extra work, small bubbles can be filled in with more resin. And sometimes, probably more often than not, you're gonna be the only one to notice or care if there's a flaw.
Something that made me feel better about little flaws in my work was looking at sets of mass produced dice. I noticed that some of them had kinda rough edges where a sprue had been clipped, and a couple had little air bubbles in the middle, and I had literally NEVER noticed those things before making dice myself.
Also a thing that kinda helped was doing a dice trade with another dice maker who had been making dice around the same amount of time as me and both of us going "oh your dice are so much better than mine!" and then both listing the flaws that we saw in our own dice. It really highlighted to me how much we see the flaws in out own work and don't notice it in others. I hadn't noticed ANY of the flaws she showed me until she pointed it out.
It's also good to remember that 1. I've been doing this for a while, and my dice have improved DRASTICALLY. My dice have not always been as finished as they are now. and 2. This is CZcams and I don't usually show the sets that fail. And I have plenty of dice that fail. Maybe I'll go through my box of fails in a video someday, because it happens all the time.
Anyway, this was a bit long, but long story short: Flaws happen all the time. Don't worry to much about little flaws in your work- you're probably the only person that will notice them.

@@alchemistsattic Thanks you so much for your kindness, your words helped me a lot because my OCD side comes out and take control. Even if my girlfriend and my friends always tells me that the dices are great I'm nevere satisfied because I notice every little micro imperfection and this makes me very very very frustrated. Thank you very much again.
