  • What do you need to start making your own DIY resin projects? Let me walk you through the basic supplies!
    This is the second video in a three part series talking about resin supplies. This video covers things you can use to color resin. The first video was about basic resin supplies, and the third video will be about fun extra things to include in your resin projects and dice.
    For full transparency, I may make a small commission on items you order from the below Amazon links. Here's a link to most of the things talked about in this video, plus a few other items: amzn.to/3xiIkcc or I have it broken up by sections below.

    The fact you don’t have more views is a crime… I’m thinking of taking up making dice as a hobby to save more money since sets get pretty expensive, and these videos are so helpful. These are well edited, concise and easy to follow

      Glad to help! There's definitely a reason the handmade ones are expensive (I'm sure you will soon discover how long they take to make), but making them is a lot of fun, and it's really cool to me able to make dice that are completely unique and custom :D

      @@alchemistsattic Absolutely... to those new to purchasing it's hard to find stuff actually hand made, and seeing all the work that goes into it is definitely eye opening.. can't wait for your next video to come out!

    Hey! Thanks a lot for this very interesting video. I'm personally a fan of using eyeshadows since it helps getting rid of the old ones I had lying around. I find that putting mackup or any other pigment powder (like ultramarine for ex.) first in a small silicon cup, and then adding a bit of resin, mixing, then more resin helps avoind clumping. A bit like when you mix dried and wet ingredients for a cake! Usually, the remaining clumps stay at the bottom of the cup and don't get into the mold 👍
    I'd love to try out more resin dyes and pastes, but it's not super easy to find in Europe. Maybe the references you gave will help out in my quest!

    What timing! I'm about to start messing with dice again and had been wondering about a lot of these. I've had alcohol inks and resin dye on hand for a while now and you saved me a ton of time trying to figure out what makes them different.

    You're a literal godsend! I've been having trouble with violet/purple alcohol ink for ages and I was feeling so stupid, I thought I was doing something wrong. They kept getting brown on pinkish in my resin. Do you have any violet alcohol ink you can recommend?
    Also, if you feel like doing a video on the usage of the vibratory tumbler I'd love it. I use ceramic beads but I believe I'm underestimating the necessary time, I can't get dice as shiny as yours.
    Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us! ❤

      Amusingly, my favorite purple alcohol ink is from this cheaper alcohol ink set: www.amazon.com/dp/B07YLJTHGT Both the violet and the lavender are quite pretty purple colors, imo. (the other "purple" colors in the set tend more towards pink, though).

    I've been looking into breaking into the dicemaking scene for a while now, but am just now really getting into things. I'm currently about to build my own fume hood out of cardboard and was wondering what you use to vent resin fumes?

    • @alchemistsattic
      @alchemistsattic  Před 2 měsíci

      I, uh, don't really do a good job of that. I just have a space that I only use for resin and wear a respirator in there while I'm working and things are curing.

    Great video. Thanks. So I have a resin "paste" that is supposed to mimic waves sorta like creating cells in acrylic pours. I haven't used it. I opened it and it had a strong almost paint thinner smell. Have you used them?

    • @alchemistsattic
      @alchemistsattic  Před 2 měsíci

      No, I haven't. Is it like a pigment paste where you mix it with resin before pouring, or do you just use it directly on the resin?

    nail glitter. hear me out.
    Big stuff is whatever. the small stuff that looks like silver no matter what colour gives THE BEST shimmer you can buy
