    This is why I don't like investing money into these games. They change so drastically over the course of time. You could be enjoying it for the first 6 months and then its changed completely. I've already noticed that since launch higher master ranks no longer give you those rare pokemon, alot of them now are basic and thats not luck. Crits on biscuits are way down from launch & the rate of a pokemon being full has been increased.

      I don't even know if this is necessary but out of my top 5 highest RP Pokemon, I have a Near perfect Shiny Wigglytuff that has Lvl 6 as well and a near perfect Sylveon that I've been running since I found out how great they are lol
      So I'm always at 115%-140% energy! Lol

    I think the "generally" from the notes is to refer to times where your tracking matches the sleep data. So not the times where you start tracking and pick up your phone after 5 minutes to walk around so you get a 5 minute nap after 1.5 hours of tracking. In those cases, you would always end tracking with less energy.

      Something like this happened to me earlier today when I tracked a nap. I dozed too much and it only counted ~15 minutes as sleep, all at the beginning.

    I love that the finally fixed this, because it has been a berry meta from the start. No matter how you flip it, coocking was always worse that just afk farming and sleeping

      Yes in a way berry meta is falling. However energy depletion during sleep also means less ingredients.
      However the effects are most felt by berry specialists.

    That means the berry farmers with energy recovery skills are generally better now. Put them on a team with Wiggly and their energy should stay up all the time still

      Except these won't trigger at night...without you waking up to trigger them yourself (if you have Go++) or splitting your sleep tracking into 2 sessions. When you go to sleep, you would expect your Mon to be at their lowest energy levels, and skill triggers wont happen during that time. So it seems now that at the time when they should be recovering their energy (as you sleep) they will instead be draining their already low energy. That seems unfair and the opposite of the spirit of an app encouraging sleep. The RIGHT way would be to increase their energy levels every 10 minutes during sleep - the inverse of what the game is currently doing during the day, so that by the time you wake up, they have recovered the energy progressively and are incrementally farming more effectively. But no, they won't do that I expect.

      @@MrGregAndo They won't have to trigger at night if their energy is above 100% when you sleep. The energy they lose overnight is gained right back after waking up.

      My guess is its all wiped at 4am, and when tou wake up its only from 4am up to the time you wake up

    The energy cooking gives isn't much at all and I got only a 78 sleep score today so wasn't close to 100% recovery. So I might have to use recovery incense more now.

    Oh sure, they're quick to fix bugs that help players, but do they help the ones that make it hard, like that glitch on Mondays where your pokemon hardly have any berries or ings for the first week collection? Nope.
    Also, I know its rng, but next time they say they've increased shiny odds during events they need to make sure it actually FEELS like a boosted odds event. I have not once gotten a shiny during any boosted shiny event. I've been playing this game since August. I have a premium pass, and I only have 4 Shinys to show for it.
    I haven't played Pokemon GO in years, but at least that game actually had a great shiny odds during community days.

    I hate that all the resource I put into my Energy Down nature Pokemon is now a liability, as they're going to wake up at 80% Energy (or is it 90%) each morning.

      There's a Japanese patch note that energy down nature is buffed from 0.8 to 0.88 so it may not be as bad. I'm not personally confirming this is the case, just saw a screenshot floating around.

    I assume anyone using the Plus+ was already affected by the energy draining through the night as you would never formally activate a sleep session within the game so I'm not expecting to be affected by this as much as a lot of people. I'm wondering if with the new meal energy system it'll be worth trying to cook breakfast before syncing the Plus+ so that you get the full bonus from having low energy and then getting the sleep energy on top after.
    5:30 - I think the point here is that they don't encourage sleeping outright, they want to encourage good sleeping *habits*. If you're someone who is having to have a 2 hour nap every day, there's something wrong with your sleep. The game's own sleep hints mention that if you're especially tired to take a 10-15 minute nap but not to rely on it.

    Hopefully cooking a good breakfast will make up for this, but any pokemon with Energy Recovery down is basically never going to get above 80% energy from sleeping alone.

      Well they hint to cooking breakfast will have less recovery since your pokemon should be at higher energy

    I think people are really overstating the nerf to sneaky snacking, 99.9% of the players were not doing the thing where you open/close the app repeatedly. Sneaky snacking is still going to be OP on BFS mons especially w/ favored berry.
    Regarding the point at 3:27, totally agree they made the change because they realized people wouldn't need to buy whistles/pillows/incense as much so it had to get changed for the $$ to keep flowing in.
    And yeah, if I understand the mechanics correctly, ERB is going to be huge for double sleep strats now. Borderline required.
    Re: 14:23 (skills triggering easier) Not 100% sure if this is what they meant, but helps roll in sets of 5x at a time at which point the skill triggers are decided. There were a few players who used an exploit in order to re-roll helps until they got a skill proc. I don't know how they were able to do this, but they were using re-rolls to test the proc rates of skills and reverse engineer the percentages.

      I think the nerf to sneaky is mostly due to energy depletion overnight, not the sneaky n+1 bug. The n+1 bug was only for the very few extremely dedicated players 😆

    Based on your breakdown, it sounds like running a BFS berry team needs a E4E or self healing to stay elevated. I’ll try running two E4E and see how that goes with BFS Berry team.

    At this point in the week I’m normally in mid to high ultra and I’m at great 2. My cooking is also giving Snorlax way less power. And I think it takes more overall to level up Snorlax. It’s terrible

    Overall a net positive from a game design perspective, it's a direct buff to energy recovery up natures, which is basically irrelevant so far.
    I speculate the energy recovered by dishes will be tied to strength of the dish as another buff to ingredient specialist.
    Look forward to the day where they buff skill specialists.

      From a game balance point of view this is great.
      From a player perspective, making players feel like they're getting less every week out of this game, I think not as good for PR purposes. But maybe the buffs will make up for it like dishes energy recovery. We shall see.

    This information is very disappointing than more exciting. As a F2P player i think they want us to pay to play now. Because if our Pokemon don't get sufficient energy and we get only 1 Energy Recovery incense from a week. Then it's hard day's coming for F2P players. There should be other ways to get energy recovery incense in the game if this changes are applied in the game.
    BTW what are piggy's thoughts about this ?

    How do you see how many sleep styles you have if you’re past 190 styles? I know I have over 190 but I don’t think I’ve hit 240. But idk.

      Not much of a benefit. The range of the energy recovered from meals is very miniscule (ranges from 0-5 energy recovered) and the amount a pokemon receives is based on their current energy level. Not the strength of the meal.

    So this basically nullifies the downside of using the ++. This means if you sleep using your phone u still lose energy and u can't use your phone. Imo this makes the ++ significantly superior.

      This was a point I thought of but didnt make yet, as we need to clarify first whether sleep tracking adds energy to when you start or when you finish tracking when tracking normally by phone or with ++ past 4am.

    Its nerf, but I kinda like it. Healers are much more viable, and people will abuse system less.

      The upside is game balance. The downside is players feeling like they got less out of their game than previous weeks when they achieved better scores.
      Healers went from useable in any area to essential in every team. But dwarves all other skill specialists to obscurity due to its necessity.

    I am getting more and more frustrated by this app. The developers continue to shut down app progress, rather than add content, at the detriment of sleep quality. All whilst not improving the application for people who are being penalised for the app design. It is getting to the point where I just don't think it is worth wasting my time on.

    Finally! There is a benefit to going to sleep with Pokemon having 100%+ energy! My Tyranitar+Sylveon combo was living my Ttar with 115%+ sometimes haha. I always thought it was odd people underestimated having high energy at end of day!

      Yeah there's a few theories floating around but largely, we have no idea. It could be a test run before making the event drop at the same time. Just to check for game breaking bugs etc before the entire community gets upset about bugs.
