My grandmother shopped Winn Dixie. Their house brand was “Thrifty Maid”. Her entire pantry was TM canned pears to go with her cottage cheese for lunch. Ahhhh, Grandma. 😊
Love it Fred. It's funny how much I was looking forward to cable TV. Eventually it became passe in favor of satellite, then that became passe. And how strange to see a correcting typewriter in the age of electronic text.
Thanks for another trip down commercial memory lane Fred. At 3:08, that's George Dzundza of Law & Order and Basic Instinct, and Stanley Tucci of Grease for Singer sewing machines, along with Debbie Reynolds.
At the age of 55 I’ve been from poleroid cameras with flash bulbs that would burn your hands to taking pictures on my phone. Lol Gotta love photobug in the parking lot of the local grocery store
Your videos reopen so many memory files in my head, that haven't been opened in decades. What a great selling point, having Aldo Rey, Broderick Crawford and Jack Palance (three well known tough guys, who weren't sweet) sell Canada Dry. And I remember that ON commercial, because we didn't live in Oakland Co., so we couldn't get it (but not to worry, since cable came just a few years later). Thanks once again Fred!
K-Tel compilations was the only way to have a pretty decent playlist back then; Polaroid cameras for a most impatient mother (mine❗); Lou Brock, one of my brother's fav players. No, it's not too sweet. 🤭 Love this series, Fred. 💜🤟
I miss Winn Dixie. Those commercials were where I knew Jim Davis from. First time I saw him on "Dallas" I thought to myself, "It's the Winn Dixie cowboy!"
I was expecting to see my favorite commercial for Monster Vitamins with Vincent Price as the spokesman in it. I loved that commercial, and I had a crush on Vincent Price at the same time, from late 1973 to mid-1978.
I ate off the child's menu at Sambo's many times in the mid to late 70s. I remember those picture panels above the counter that showed the story of Sambo and how he turned the tigers into butter. Or something like that.
Another nice job, Fred! 2:20 - from the issue of Sept. 30, 1978 3:40 - maybe the most famous unmarried couple from tv 5:08 - There used to be Winn-Dixies both in the TN city where I was a teen & the city where I live now, but it's hard to find one outside of FL now. 11:45 - That THREE'S COMPANY promo is so old (Episode is 1 of 6 from S1) it was still using the hummed theme song from the pilots. 13:33 - The announcer sounds like the great Dave Willock, actor & cartoon/ad voiceover.
Yes I remember Winn Dixie here in the Nashville are but also in western Oklahoma but nowhere else I can recall in the South, I remember when only in Florida could I find a Publix.
@@archstanton4365 The city where I lived was Hendersonville, just outside Davidson Co. I've been back there recently and noticed that there is a Publix there now, not far from where Winn-Dixie was.
@@jehobden Oh yeah I'm well acquainted with Sumner county, I used to live in Goodlettesville on the Metro/Sumner line. Yeah we got Publix all the way down in the Boro too, I'm glad too cause that's only place around here to get a ready made Cuban sandwich!
Always look forward to your vids coming across my feed. Those K-tel and the Ronco albums were nice, but 1 drawback. They shortened the songs more than the on-air versions the radio played. You never payed attention to the amount of songs on a record until you started listening and realized how much they were shortened. No wonder they fit 16, 18, or 20 songs on 1 record...P.S. Being Canadian I loved the Canada Dry commercial. Jack Palance..... another favorite actor
Lol "Sambos", it's parent company also owned Denny's, I had a game similar to the "Digital Derby" electronic game, but it was an aircraft fighter type. Thanks, you mAD man Fred, nice trip down yesteryear lane. 👍
The BBC TV Newsreader mentioned in the TV Guide commercial is, I believe, Angela Rippon. I would guess it was her appearance on the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special around 76-77 when she danced in a split skirt evening dress is what thread was referring to. I’ve seen that skit many times. It’s quite funny, and she is indeed very sexy. In the 1980’s she work for a TV station in Boston, MA for a short while before returning to the UK.
I love these ads because it's before my time. I wasn't born until the 70s. Didn't have a Sambos in my area. Looked like good food. But that name would be racist now.
Yeah. I recently saw a menu online from the 1970's Kentucky Fried Chicken. To see just how much Chicken and Sides one could buy for $20, was head shaking. No wonder why my mom chose that for Family Picnics. Today, That "Family" would be 2 People maximum.🤦🏻♀️
Thanks Fred
The Polaroid commercials w/ James Garner and Mariette Hartley were so well done people thought they were actually married.
And they couldn't Google to verify.
Those stick well in my memory.. loved Jim Rockford...
I love this channel. Brings back such fantastic memories. Thank you Fred. God bless you and your family and your channel. 💟✝️
Much appreciated, Ralph.
1976-79, my golden years!
Good Heavens, Fred... this is TRULY one of your ALL-TIME BEST videos YET!! What a treasure trove of great memories!!!!
Much appreciated, Nunetc.

Oh Fred thank you so much for this fun look back!!! I appreciate all the work that you put in to bring us these videos 😊
Thank you very much, Bridget.
Seems like ktel owned EVERYTHING 😂
And in the 1970's, pretty much Everyone owned Everything KTel made.😉😂😂
K Tel and Ronco controlled the market.😁
Really miss the 70s. Everything was good then. Thanks for the viewing pleasure. 👍
You're welcome, Mark.
I agree🤝🏻

Debbie...who???
@@FredFlixYeah. Wonder whatever became of her? She was pretty, and I understand she could sing and dance a bit too...
George was also in ..."Deer Hunter"...
I had to laugh at the law enforcement claiming a 98 percent conviction rate! LoL! Great video Fred!❤
They need to strap themselves to their own lie detectors, Chantelle.
Now it's more like a 2%conviction rate.
Maybe Future Cop was behind it? 😂
@@FredFlix tis true, however the only results the public would get would be "no comment"! LOL!
I’ve said this before but getting a FredFix is like an unexpected check in the mail
WOW! The IBM Correcting Selectric Typewriter. Yes I remember that machine.

Good times, Doug!
Another great one Fred. There were a few I haven’t thought of since the 70’s. Thank you so much!
