Dennis the Menace's dad in the Kool commercial. Feels weird to see cigarette commercials. Women admiring men in the Aqua Velva commercial. What a concept! Always appreciate the nostalgia trips!
an era to remember. :-) glamorizing cigarettes to the masses, advertising the ability to get a TV with actually zero down, and new feature of locking steering wheel. a great mix, Fred! thank you for this!
2:52 Now that one took me back. What a nice surprise to see the Shake a Pudding commercial. And I still recall the theme song. We had the shaker but I do remember that the pudding didn't turn out so well.
Thanks, Fred. I think i have a kidney stone. I needed good old tv comfort. I was born in 63 so i dont remember a lot of these but it lets me see what my mama saw. Thats nice 😊
Mom and her Polaroid Swinger. "What a crazy way to make a snack". Yardley's Slicker frosted lipcolor... and yes, "There's something about an Aqua Velva man"... 🎶🎵🎶 When you enter the time tunnel almost anything can happen. 💜🤟
Another cool trip, thanks Fred!😎😀 It's awesome that alot of the brands are still around today, (well maybe not so awesome to that the cigarettes are). I wish that those beautiful TV sets were!
If you want to feel the warm and fuzzy feeling of how it used to be. Fredflix is the way to go! Such glad tidings big brother Fred. I always get an ASMR feeling that I used to call "Brain fizz".
My big sister got a swinger camera for Christmas one year. i think she still has it in its original box. She brought it out a few years ago at a family Christmas gathering at their home. Her sons and grandchildren would laugh at it I suppose My two little brothers claimed all my good stuff as I got older. They did at least have the generosity to ask first at least. lol. At sixteen with my own car I had no use for all that anymore. I got the first GI JOE and his jeep and gear kind of wish I had kept it. It was kept pristine until then.
Fred-tastic again Fred! I Remember each and every one of them…and for the record…I used to pour lotsa Black Label aftershave all over my Poptarts…yummy!
Hey Fred. Thanks for another great episode. I don't think I ever knew that Paul Mazursky, who would go on to be a major film director, was co-developer of "The Monkees." But it was in today's closing credits of The Monkees' clip.
Funny thing about cigarette commercials. I love them, but they never made me want to smoke. In my day we understood the difference between a commercial sales pitch and reality. We made Mom buy the breakfast cereals that actually had Sugar in their names because they tasted good, not because we believed they'd make us fly around the room as the commercials suggested (that only happened when we ate several bowlfuls).
Great show Fred, thanks friend! You know, back in the 60s my mom would slick down my hair with VO5 for church or school pictures. In the seventies, I used The Dry Look hairspray to helmetize my coiffed head. Stopped putting anything in my hair fir the next 30 years until my mid-50s when my hair turned gray and I started using Brylcreem. They're right, a little dab will do you! Use it every day 😂 ANYWAY, THANKS AGAIN FRED! 😊
I haven't heard the music from the Benson & Hedges ad since cigarette commercials were still being aired. The song is, "The Disadvantages of You," by The Brass Ring (1967)
Your videos both saddened and elate me.They elicit regrets for the type of person I was in my youth...my bad behavior ruined many opportunities for me.I wish I could turn back the hands of time...I would be a better person.
These are great memories Fred. So a big thank you! McClean’s toothpaste - hadn’t thought of that in so many years! And Vote - 1972’s toothpaste, I’m sure you remember. Mother and Dad used it.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. I love these looks into a time I never knew, it's always so cool seeing old jingles for products I'm so familiar with. Thank you for the content as always fred
Nice job again, Fred! 5:23 - As someone else noticed, Herb Anderson (aka, Henry Mitchell) was smoking a Kool Cigarette here. I wonder if that brand felt cooler than the others. I'm not a smoker, so I wouldn't know. 7:28 - I hope not many people had their new RCA color sets repossessed if they couldn't afford all the installment debt they got for the sets, which were cheaper 10-20 years later in real dollars. 9:00 - I saw recently (I think on JEOPARDY!) that Pop Tarts were originally called "Fruit Scones". I don't think they would've sold as well under that name. I guess the frosted type came out later. My favorite flavor, Chocolate-Vanilla Creme, isn't made anymore, though it's similar to Cookies & Cream. 10:30 - I wonder who was Igor to Boris Karloff's Dr. Frankenstein here. 11:50 - I've never heard of an "Opal Kadett" before. I guess it was the first GM brand to be discontinued. 11:56 - This MONKEES closing is from "Monkees in a Ghost Town", OAD 10/24/1966. "Sally Rogers" had "Uncle Leo" & "the Wolfman" as her henchmen here. :)
5:18--Appears to be a Canadian Benson & Hedges package, and the segment of the ad is monochrome instead of color. Assuming it's a Canadian commercial adapted from a US commercial.
Oh man, the Edward Bernays advertisement persuasion was so so strong back then for the cigarette cancer sticks smh. Glad cig commercials are banned. They should do the same for alcohol today IMO. Thanks for these videos tho, they sure remind me of the old days.
It was long ago and far away and Viceroy was the first cigarette that I ever tried..swiped from my mother... P.s. Will we get to see Salvador Dali doing a commercial for Alka-Seltzer?
Oh my goodness, the cigarettes. Everything and everybody everywhere stunk whether they smoked or not, because you could light up at will and there was no general expectation of truly fresh air no matter where you were. So many other things about the 60s were great, but that was truly gross in hindsight.
I enjoy all of your videos Fred. Being 68 years young all these bring back cherish memories. Thanks again Fred.😊
You're welcome, Steve.
I'm 63...I agree...life was better, and filled with hope...not now, sadly.
@@kennethanway7979you can always move to Russia.
I'm 61 and couldn't have said it better, stevecrow3075.
I love The Monkees commercials! They are just so funny and the comedy with Micky, Davy, Peter and Mike always made the commercials perfect
Once again you managed to brighten a gloomy day, thank you from the bottom of my heart Fred 😊
I'm glad to know that, Bridget.

Sure thing, Robert.
I noticed that, too. He always smoked a pipe in the series.
Loved the Yardley of London. I used my older sister’s Slicker lipsticks all the time. 😊
I still have some Yardley lip gloss and Slickers I bought on eBay. Could never afford them as an adolescent.
Oh how I remember those big TV sets. 📺 Back when it was a piece of furniture. 😌

Thanks, Fred. You help make a rainy day better.

Funner times for sure.
Another great collection of memories, thank you so much for your continued hard work, Fred.
You're welcome, Adam.
These type videos are my favorite. Even though a bit before my time I still enjoy them.
Thanks Fred. Always good to see a new FredFlix video, especially on a snowy New England Sunday.
63 degrees here in the south, Ernest.
It’s 71 degrees in Key West.
Oh man, that Polaroid Land Camera! We had one except we were able to take color photos! DIG those Monkees Kellogg's commercials!
2:52 Now that one took me back. What a nice surprise to see the Shake a Pudding commercial. And I still recall the theme song. We had the shaker but I do remember that the pudding didn't turn out so well.
You can't watch 60's TV without running into a cigarette ad or 2. 😅
Thanks for the funnies, FredFlix.
You're welcome, Luis.

They lit up three times in that Viceroy cigarette commercial!
5:25 It's Herb Anderson, aka Henry Mitchell from Dennis the Menace.
I thought he looked familiar! Thanks for letting us know his name!

I was seven years old during this time. I wanted to be a teenager so bad. They seemed to have so much fun in the 60’s.

Dwight, I have many regrets as well. But as long as you are able to self reflect and feel remorse, you ARE a better person.
Used to love that Time Tunnel show. Forgot all about Macleans toothpaste man that was a long time ago. Pop Tarts without frosting...LOL.
Boy oh boy do I remember those Polaroid Swinger cameras. My brother was given one as a present when he was 8 and we used it all the time.

it's crazy to think, all those kids are in their 60's and 70's, and all the adults are probably long dead. Life is so ridiculously short, lol.

My parents did get a color RCA tv in 1968. To see the tigers in the world series
I can't believe they named a camera "the swinger" in the sixties! Even I knew what that meant by the time I was in first grade! LoL!😂
Take your mind out of the gutter.
In the African American community there were"swinger" parties.I remember my dad swapping my mom for the Spanish woman next door.
I wonder if they still make that frost-lime Aqua-velva.. would like to try it, if they do !
🎵 Just a silly millimeter longer; 101. 🎵
We had hardly adds on tv that started around 68/70 is guess, nice adds tho.
Black Label... the AXE of the 60s. Lol
Macleans stole from the song glad all over. LOL. I never noticed that.
The pop tarts were better back then no sugary icing to cover the taste
