  • @loltwest9423
    @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +420

    You gotta love that the practicality increases as the intelligence of the race decrease. And yes, the Eldar have the least practical Titan design. Those legs are way too slim and skinny. At least each of the designs match the personality of the race though.

    • @loltwest9423
      @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +89

      @starshipeleven Well realistically, a bi-pedal war machine is inherently impractical. The Imperium's Titans look like they could be feasible if they weren't so top-heavy but, the Eldar's is just straight impossible. Those thin legs would be destroyed by the Square-Cubed law. They would need more structural support in order to handle the weight of that Titan. It's also not helped by how long and spindly those cannons are.
      Realism aside, it's a great design. The shape of the Titan reflects its combat style: quick and evasive.

    • @loltwest9423
      @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +28

      @starshipeleven Thanks for pointing out yet another reason why Eldar Titans don't work. The width of the feet for the Imperium's Titans is significantly wider than that of the Eldar's.
      Like I said before, the Imperium's Titans look feasible if they didn't have all that bs strapped to their back, and even then, there are some Titan models (namely the Warhound and Reiver Titans) that seem closer to realism when compared to the Eldar's. If the two machines were of the same material and brought into our world, I'm fairly certain every Imperium Titan below the Nemesis class would fair better in terms of being able to move than the Eldar, which would likely collapse under its own weight much sooner than an Imperial Titan.
      I'm not saying one is practical and the other isn't, I'm saying one looks more practical than the other.

    • @loltwest9423
      @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +24

      @starshipeleven And you're right, looking stronger doesn't equate to beating the Square-Cubed law. What I should be saying is that it appears to have more structural integrity.

    • @loltwest9423
      @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +12

      @starshipeleven Absolutely not. In my universe, also known as reality, an Eldar Titan would be significantly less feasible than an Imperial Titan. The Imperial Titan is still horrifically impractical, but you have to be insane to think that the Eldar Titan is any better.
      It looks like you're just straight up making shit up to justify the idea that the Eldar Titan would work better. I mean, maybe its more slender appearance balances out its horrific leg design, but how can't that same logic be applied to Imperial Titans?
      The Eldar's Titans have this small tiny hip piece, of which this massive upper body with all this flare and these long arms and guns are fixed to like it's just a scaled-up human. And all of this weight is being focused on these small, thin legs. It's a miracle that it can even stand without snapping a breaking apart.
      Meanwhile, the Imperial Titans seem closer to reality. The Reiver's arms are hanging to the sides in a form more akin to cranes than arms. They have a fair number of pistons helping to stabilize both the arms and the legs. They suffer from the same problem at the hip as the Eldar Titan does, but at the very least the legs pretend to give a damn about ground pressure and the Square-Cubed law given how wide the legs are and all the structural support placed there. Sure the knees could use some work. But all of this structural support I mentioned with the Imperial Titan is missing on the Eldar Titan.
      But whatever, fuck all that structural stability that such a massive vehicle would require. Just support a large thing of mass and give it twigs for arms and legs. It'll stand.

    • @loltwest9423
      @loltwest9423 Před 3 lety +7

      @starshipeleven Didn't know that about pistons, but my point still stands.
      Paying lip service to the laws of physics is a lot better than just straight-up breaking them. Furthermore, this hypothetical was examining them both assuming they're made of the same material, not the magical bones. Clearly, you're not accounting for how much unused space is in an Imperial Titan if you keep saying it's a hundred times more massive than an Eldar Titan.
      Regardless, I doubt you're not arguing in good faith, as even a layman can point out how unrealistic an Eldar's design is. You can like the Titan, for sure. I'm just making an observation, and now I'm just done with the conversation. You may go on talking about how this fictional and totally unrealistic war machine that wasn't made with our conception of the laws of physics is somehow more logical than something that at least pretends physics exists, I'm gonna do something more productive than replying for replying's sake.

Compared to those.. huh. A Jaeger? Is quite more than twice the size, with the agility of a Knight. So it's definitely there. Imagine it getting some nice wh40k weaponry.
      The Imperator is around 150m tall. Colossal in nature. Very big boi. However there is like 12 of it. But Jaegers. No no no. The Gipsy and the rest, were know to be the easier to make, modern Jaegers. More modular and mass producible, but still analog. It would Total the battlefield to have an army of those with 40k tech.
      But, it's probably dark age tech compared to the Imperiums current level. Or some lost STC or "unable to make it anymore". Too cool to have, does not have space dongs attached to it.

    This description of the Hellstorm Cannon provides a genuine glimpse of the authentic size of Warhammer 40K Titans
    “The Hellstorm Cannon is a multi-barreled weapon capable of firing in quick succession, giving its wielder unparalleled firepower against enemy Titans. The Hellstorm Cannon can also fire all of its barrels in a single shot, but this requires lengthy recharge before it can be fired again. Firing shells the size of battle tanks, a Hellstorm Cannon can quickly rearrange the landscape, carving out fresh canyons and collapsing entire hills to bury the enemy in thousands of tonnes of dirt and rock.The cannon is able to strip the Void Shields from a Warlord Battle Titan in one volley.”
    There is ZERO correlation between model scales and lore scales. The Titans are truly unimaginably gigantic GOD MACHINES that are capable of blotting out the sun as they cause the ground they walk on to tremble with each and every step.
    Titans are Harbinger-Reaper sized Monstrosities from Mass Effect but much much chunkier and they sound like them too.

      Why use ressources in one giant unit that is a Titan ?
      Given that Tau have one of the best anti Titan weapons too I don't even see Titans as a real threat to tau, they take to long to deploy, are to easy to hit and don't work well against Tau as they don't do static lines (lorewise). And as i said on tabletop the Tau is one of the hardest to deploy a Titan against, as they have a flyer as a anti Titan weapon, that is cheap and hits hard (compared to a Titan). And you get 2-3 for each Warhound they deploy with stronger and longer range weapons too, thought you can get more shots with the Warhound but you do get the minus to hit the flyer, so already with 6 wounds you only hit on 4+ and with less than 20 wounds left you hit on 5+. Given that each flyer can hit with a maximum of 12 strength 18 AP -5, with 6 mortal wounds on top each round, there is a fair change you would lose 6 wounds fast, and in the first strike you can add 6 mortal wounds more onto it for a total of 12 because of the seeker missiles too, oh and the weapons are Macro weapons so damage is double against Titans. While Titans firering at the Tiger Shark only get normal damage, as it's not a Titan. So with 3 flyers it would be up to 36 mortal wounds first round with another 72 normal wounds from the micro weapons, with BS 2 around half should hit.
