  • Finally got a chance to see what Whipple's new 3.0L supercharger could do, and it did well on this engine for Autocraft Collision. Watch the video to see what it made on pump gas, and more info on the build!

      Have you ever had to actually dyno an engine? Trust me, the loss is a lot less than you might think. Mechanical fans are what you need to stay away from. the alt, ps and water pump are much less power hungry than you might think.

    Watch the exhaust fan shutters during the pull starting at 2:30 The dyno cell may be starving the engine of some air flow, pulling a bit of vacuum in the room. It’s interesting to see a visual of just how much air that engine is moving. Very cool video as usual!

    • @gavincline209
      @gavincline209 Před 2 lety

      If they are still open at all it’s more then enough air. Those are exhausting the air from a fan blowing in. So the engine sucks what it needs and the rest is pushing the flappers.
      They do look to be pretty closed, but even open a little means there’s enough flow. It’d be interesting to know some numbers though, your right.

    • @artbennett7321
      @artbennett7321 Před 2 lety

      That's a problem. Steve is amazing but his dyno cell has serious airflow issues. I noted on another video that showed fumes off the headers heading into the turbos. Engines need dedicated shrouded air supply for optimum powr and repeatable measurements

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X Před 2 lety

      @@artbennett7321
      Show me one shop that has that. What you need in order to repeat results is steady airflow. If you have followed what Morris is doing and has been doing for the past 10 years, you'll see that he is very conscious about the workings of his dynos. He has made over 3000 hp in that room, so that little LS will not struggle.

    • @AB-80X

      It's just a 3.0 blower, and seeing that we don't know the heads and cam, there's no way of knowing where the choke point is. Too many variables. If 1200+ was the order of the day more than 1000 hp, then the 4.0 or 4.5 would be what was needed. This combination is just at its limit it would seem.

    The Australian Ford Barra 6cyl with turbo motor will easilly do 1200hp, more bullet proof than an LS motor, seen Barra motors around the 2000hp but not really streetable at that point.

      What's the point of your comment? Steve has built a 2000+ hp 2JZ too. So? He can also do a 2000+ hp LS easily. That turbo Barra at 1200 is no more reliable than a turbo LS at 1200 hp. Looking at your comments, I doubt you know very much about either Barra's or LS engines.
