Hi!
My name is Justin and I have my managed my family's business (S&K Greenhouse) for the last 10 years! It is a local garden center in Shelby, NC that my mom and dad started around 25 years ago.
We have a strong desire to discuss and teach gardening to the online community and welcome anyone who wants to learn. Though we have been involved in the plant world for decades we have found that there is always something to learn when it comes to gardening.
Whether you are a master gardener or just starting out this channel is for you. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our videos! - Jak na to + styl
I thought my lemon tree had completely died because of an unexpected cold snap while it was outside. It did died back but is now putting out green growth. I think I might name it Lazarus. 😉
😁 Si Lázaro suena bien.

Lazarus is a perfect name 👌
Meyer lemons have always impressed me with their hardiness. I've had one that got left in a dark room and unwatered for three months in winter. It was putting out blossoms when I found it and watered it.
I live in va and I have 21 lemon trees. I built a greenhouse and installed infrared light for the winter. This is the second year i have collected lemon from one of my trees.
Name it “SUNNY” 🍋
Because they all look like lit Suns, Beautiful Tree-I’m obsessed!
By far, the best content on improved Meyer lemon care I've seen on CZcams. Thank you!
My improved Meyer is Liz Lemon. Not particularly creative but it is spoken affectionately. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for the tip I can finally transfer my lemon tree was at first hesitant but now I feel confident to do it
I bought a lemon tree thanks to your video!! Thank you for all of your tips!!
😂😂I'm most def subscribing to you! I love the playfulness. Most videos about trees and plants are very straight to the point. I love a good sense of humor! 😂😂
Very beautiful lemon tree.
I found your channel this morning and how timely! I just order and received ha Myer Lemon plant and need to repot today.
You are amazing and helping us to grow our own lemon tree God bless and many tips
It's really interesting. Here in the Southern UK, most people think you can't grow citrus because our winters are too cold. It's not that, your winters are on par with coastal Georgia. It's that our summers aren't hot enough for them to ripen. Our typical winters only get down to about 26f (once in 50 year winters = 15f). US climate zones just don't make any sense here. I'm technically in zone 9b (Northern Florida/Southern Georgia equivalent), but our summers don't even quite average 70f. A polytunnel makes it possible though. I've got satsumas, kumquats and Meyer lemons growing in my polytunnel. Never thought it was possible, but it works! It's a bit dicey, as they barely ripen before the frost kicks in, but it's so much fun to grow citrus in the UK.
Thank you for answering all my questions so perfectly. Now I know what to do. God bless you.
This is very helpful. I have a tree that I started from seed of which I got from my grandma's tree and now she is no longer and neither can we go back and get seeds from that tree because it was cut down but this is super helpful because this tree is very special and it's like a miracle because it's been growing very big and a pot for about 9 years and I'm just trying to maintain it till I can permanently plant it in a real yard of my own. My tree finally gave me fruit and flowers about 2 years ago. This video is so informative! 😀 Thank you for these tips because it's hanging on but it's lacking something
Thanks for watching! Good luck! Keep us updated!
Like your humor as you teach!!!
This video was very helpful.
I shared it on Facebook page with my friends and family.
Thanks for the video. I've been waiting to repot and now feel confident.
Meyer! I think a great name for that tree
I really Like Your sense of humor, like your channel , i am really happy 2500 Lemons from Just One Lemon plant
Excellent video, thanks! Very strong finish!!
I've had my lemon tree for just eight months and it has a dozen blooms just sitting in my dining room window. I didn't know they have thorns! Thanks for the advice.
Hi did you grow it from seed. I took 5 seeds removed the outer layer.. place in wet paper towel then in zip lock bag. Put in the sun but I think when I put them. I the dark, they mite of reacted faster.. I have seedlings now but haven't planted them yet.. Any suggestions
@@philipchang4453 No. I actually bought it at Wal-Mart. I never thought I'd have fruit.
Good video! I just got a lemon tree and a lime tree. I hope I can keep them alive I didn’t realize there was so much to learn! 😩 I live in NC too
Love video and was so funny at the end when you were touching the tree in touch the thorn😂
I find your videos informative and entertaining.
I just love lemon & so I will call it ( blessed lemons ) lemon- ginger & tumeric are my favorites.
Thank you for you lesson on re- planting lemon tree and I would name it lemon drop
Great video! You made it fun to watch.
Super helpful! Going to repot my husband’s Meyer lemon tree this morning - thanks for your tips!
He named his tree Meadowlark Lemon - after the famous Globetrotter! 🤣👍🏻🍋
Name it "Lemony-Snicket". Actually I came here to learn about your outdoor gardening tips and this video just came up next. NOW you've got me wanting to plant a citrus tree which I swore I would never do again because we live in the Panhandle of Florida and have to cover our trees during the winter----YES, even here in Florida!! But I'll try this just because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE LEMONS !!!
I have one named Lemony Snicket. She's doing very well.
This video is terrific and very timely. My Meyer's leaves have turned yellow, almost as yellow as the fruit. With the drought here this summer, I may have over compensated and over watered. I'm going to get some new soil per your recommendations and replant my girl. I just call her Beautiful 😊
Where did you buy your tree from?
Mine is called cali girl...
It needs iron if it yellows.
We had a few pine trees cut down and the tree people put smaller limbs into the wood chipper, so is great stuff as bark dust....and I use it mixed in with the soil as I transplant it from the one gallon container into a larger container....I'd like to do that now/soon as its super hot here in Oregon....we have lots of windows w full sun so hopefully we'll have a few lemons....we have a small greenhouse we can keep heated via solar power system...but I'd like to enjoy having it inside my home.
Meyer lemon tree variety!Hi ,from Puerto Rico!
Thanks you for share this video
He the best for planting
Hi ya - I love how many lemons this tree has and how easy you grew it in a container - I would name this beautiful lemon tree WOOPSY!!!
Woopsy is PERFECT!!!! :)
Woopsi is Perfect in my mind, cuz of that amazin' lemon jaw jack smack 😂
Hilarious! I just got myself a little Meyer lemon tree and wanted to take the very best care of her- saw that this video had a southerner explaining stuff and knew I was in the right place! Thanks a bunch!
Especially liked the alternative options for soil and fertilizer.
One question: I watched a another person's video on CZcams and she mentioned that you should look for the part of the trunk that all the roots are coming out of ( it kinda looks like a peanut in the shell) , she said when repotting you should keep that part above the soil. Any thoughts or other explanations?
Thanks again!!!!
Fantastic video. Thank you! I'll repot my first Meyer lemon tree here in Chicago. It's struggling with yellow spot but it's a fighter. I think I'll name it Christina Aguilera. 🙂
Beautiful tree and only wish you would have shown how to tease the roots properly, no worries thanks for reminding me about the gloves and I’m glad I am adding some pine mulch. Great looking plant brother
Great video! I learned it’s time to bring mine inside
Thanks for the video and your sense of humor!
What size pot did that lemon tree come in and what size pot did you transplant it to. How do you determine the correct size to move up to? And how do you know when it's time to repot it?
Thanks for the video. I am near Charleston, SC and will need to transplant an outdoor Meyer Lemon tree. When is the best time to do it so I don't miss a blooming and growing season?
Love the video, fun and helpful. Just purchased a Meyer lemon tree and waiting to repot. We live in zone 7 TN and have this is our 2nd attempt at lemon and olive trees. Both died last year because we tried to do it in house only. I ordered citrus tone and will repot. 2 questions please. 1.It came in a 9” pot, what size do you recommend for repot? I’d like to use a 17” unless that’s too much of a jump.
2. Sunlight - we’ve been leaving it outside in the TN heat but under a covered porch. Is direct sunlight better?
Also, I like the knuckle test. I still feel like I don’t know how often to water.
Have you done a container olive tree video? Thanks for the quality lessons and the laughs!
Believe it or not, I have a tree in my conservatory in Ireland and after three years it is heaving with lemons.
The room is south facing and it seems really happy.
Thanks for video!!! LOVE 🍋
I would name her Lemon Drop! Do you have to heat your greenhouse in the winter? Love your channel!
That shade looks good on you
Great 👍, friend
hahahah the ending is everything!
Very educational, thank you
I really like your videos! to the point and a sense of humor. How about how to do cutting on Pentas and full sun plants for pots in full sun . I live in south florida
Call it Sour Owie. And Dude, what a Great video. You are so freakin funny!!! I remember the video with the Garden Hose. I really look forward to your videos. So much good info and so much fun. Makes me want to finish my Greenhouse and run buy a Sour Owie. Cheers my friend!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement! I will do my best to keep the content rolling! 🙏
Excellent 🎉🎉🎉 I subscribed to your channel 😀 My Meyer Lemon Tree is Flowering like crazy 🍋 Thank you for sharing 🙏
I'm so excited that this very day I saw little buds on my Meyers lemon tree. Finally something more than leaves! Now I just need to name it.
Those bloopers..😂😂😂😂 I think you should name the tree Tweety. 🐤
Great video! Can't believe with the name and thorns, noone has suggested Michael Meyers lol
Thank you for the tips and the laugh
I named my lemon tree Cutie Pie 🥰
And we make lemon meringue PIE!
Great video, waiting for my new meyer lemon right now. I was wondering why you didn't put some rocks at the bottom of the pot for drainage? Thanks.
🤣🤣 the introduction got me 😂😂😂
Great info!
Sally...the lemon queen...
I’m so excited. My Italian lemons 🍋 gave me many lemons last year. This year it looks dead. So upset.
Sunshine ☀️
Hey great video I love your personality, how many gallons is that new container ?
Great video!
Nice - Lemon Head!
I have a meyer lemon tree it's about 3 feet tall. I've had it for about 4 years however still no lemons. I just repotted it. It grows a lot of new branches and leaves...it's very healthy. Any tips to get it to bloom?
Wow time to harvest an prune back
I'd name it bruzer. Great video, thanks!
Very useful
Thank you very much
I don't know how old does vid. Is.... But because you said it was top heavy.. I would call it may west😂
Coffee grinds scattered on top can help get the soil acidic.
Prosperity would be a great name
My daughters are suggesting Sunshine, Lacey, & Gum Drop as names for the lemon tree. I'm going with lemon drop
Those are good ones! Tell them thank you for the ideas!! 😃
Lemon 🍋 beauty
I got a lemon tree for Christmas and I repotted it into a 20 gallon pot after about a month. (The garden center suggested to do it before April) It is in a sunny spot on our back pool deck. It had LOTS of flowering blooms, and lots of tiny lemons and one about the size of a ping pong ball. We have had an unusually chilly winter for Florida and a very gray January and February. We had a horrific windy and rainy couple of days and ALL of the leaves came off the tree. What IN the WORLD????? I have looked at it and it seems to have new blossoms but no sign of leaves. I followed your repotting video …. I have it in a terracotta pot. Please helllllllppppp. Thank you in advance.
Sun Shine!!!
Awesome vidoe. Thanks so much. :)
Lovely lemon tree ,i wish my ( i grow from a seed) be as beautiful full of 🍋 🍋 🍋 as your ,sr. 😊
He looks like a Hector. I think thats who he is. My Hector grows great!
I would love to know about out side growing lamon in the fields.
I’d name it ‘hoku’ (star in Hawaiian) I love love 🍋♥️
I bet your bloopers are lit. 😂
You forgot to mention that when you bring it indoors during the cold weather, and it produces little flowers, that you should pollinate them with a little paintbrush if you want fruit.
1. Apartment patio facing North.
2. It's Autumn, ZERO direct sunlight, but bright.
3. Containers, Meyer lemon and Mexican Lime.
Do I need grow lights??
At night for 8 hours?
I name my plants too!!!!!! That should be named sunny 🌞
I can’t stop watching the Jackie sack mouth!! 😄😄😄
Thank you❤
Hello. I can't find soil conditioner. Can you recommend an equivalent from a big box store? Seems like the Nature's Choice brand you use must be only available locally. TY
Just bought a Myers lemon tree and key lime tree. Should Ieave it in the container it came in or transplant it now with better soil?
Hi Justin! Just now watching this but was wondering if you ever use Epsom Salt on the citrus trees for the added magnesium??
Thoughts on self watering planters?? I’m very careful about watering so I don’t think I’ll over water with this type of pot.
I felt the sour bite into that lemon all the way here in Georgia. lol.
Instead of just lopping off the branches when pruning, what about ‘air layering’ to create root balls and propagate what you lop off into more lemon trees?
Ahhh lemon life...my lemon tree is called cali girl...should've named her suka...she mean and bites!!but i love my 🍋🍋
What could cause the outer edges of the leaves to turn brown? I have a young plant about a foot high. I up potted from the 6 inch store pot to a gal size pot. A few leaves are browning on the edges.
I’d name it Lemmy but since this is old video I’ll name mine Lemmy 👍👏nice tree
What a great name for a lemon tree!😊👍
I plan to keep my lemon tree indoors will only using cactus/succulent soil be enough for my plant? Or do I need the cactus/ succulent soil mixed with normal potting soil? If I need a mix of the 2 soils can I do a 50/50 mix of the 2?
Hello, Mellow Yellow!!!
Mine is a grafted tree and wherever I get the odd thorny branch, I just cut it off. I have thorn free Meyer lemon tree
I’m in north central Texas, I think zone 7
