Golden Girls - Reunion (complete episode)

  • Just like the title says: Golden Girls - Reunion - Lifetime TV, 2003 (11 years after the final episode originally aired).
Obviously this is a very old video from old analogic times when TVs could only display 576 interlaced lines (in my country) and display blurry pictures with lots of noise and colors happy to bleed all over the screen. And I'm not sure as to why, but I only recorded the video with a resolution of 576/2, i.e. 288 lines. I seem to remember that my computer back then would choke on anything with a higher resolution and would start to drop frames like it was going out of fashion. So I decided to half the number of lines to make sure there wouldn't be skipped and dropped frames. Back then you only had one shot at successfully recording a show; it's not like you could catch up later on youtube or having it replayed on the internet back in those ancient times.
Now that I've said that, I am not completely hopeless at improving things and I'm exploring a couple paths that might lead to a better picture quality in the long term (hey Ty!).
Thank you for watching and thank you for pretending the picture quality doesn't suck real bad in 2023.
    P.S. Hey Doe!

I once met Bea in London and gave her a really good laugh. She was walking with a friend of hers in Holland Park as i was walking my dogs and when i saw her i went to her and her friends and asked if i could take a photo of her with my dogs. She loved dogs and didn't say no, then she asked me why i wanted a photo of her with my dogs instead of with me and i had to tell her the truth. I had four dogs whom i called Dorothy, Sofia, Blanche and Rose and because they were all female and were golden retriever i called them the Golden Girls. She absolutely loved it. She asked me which one was Sofia and she got on her knees and gave her a huge Hug.

My favorite scene in All of Golden girls is the flashback scene of Rose, throwing a birthday meal with her late husband, in a past scene before she sold her house and moved in with Blanche and Dorothy. She is talking to her husband as if he is there, basically saying goodbye to the home that she shared with him. That scene is incredibly beautiful to me.

I doubt it. They were just actresses. They were not best friends. Why do ppl do that when it comes to actors/actress? They make up these scenarios as if these ppl are incredibly close. They were just actresses who worked together on tv. When ppl do that, I question their sense of reality because their imagination is beyond imaginable to make up such scenarios.

I don’t remember watching the Golden Girls when it was first on Saturday nights. And I was probably too young to understand what the relationship between them was all about. Now, I am much older than when these lovely ladies played their roles and can truly relate to their experiences in every performance. My only regret is that I think it would be absolutely wonderful in today’s world to be able to experience the friendship, support and compassion of living this type of life for real. There’s so many single women who live alone and far away from their adult children and I think out loud, wouldn’t it be great to always have someone to eat cheesecake with and talk things over instead of texting and waiting for a reply. I’d appreciate it if anyone else has thought the same.

It was lovely how they explained Estelle not being able to participate. She was already suffering from Alzheimer’s then. These women were all a class act. And while Bea may not have been close to Betty (Betty has always been frank about Bea not having the greatest affection for her offscreen), they were consummate professionals and treated each other with the utmost kindness and respect at all times. Rue and Betty remained close friends until Rue’s passing and they all cared a great deal for Estelle, who ironically, was the youngest of the four but was the first to leave us. Rue had a clause in her contract where she kept all of her costumes from the show and Betty had the opportunity to see them again after her passing.it was a very touching walk down memory lane. I can’t help but think of the scene when the four characters discussed what would happen when there was only one of them left and now there is only Betty, who just turned 99 last week. This show was my Grandma and my favorite show every Sat night and every time I watch it now it’s like having her back with me (she passed away suddenly in 99). When I first watched The Golden Girls I was a 20 something year old, on the verge of marriage (1986)and motherhood(1989) and now I’m older (58) than some of them. I think Rue was only 51 when she first played Blanche.
I’m binging on the entire box set, very useful at 3.30am when the menopause keeps me up most nights. I still laugh out loud at every episode.

I really liked how they didn't make Stanley a complete joke throughout the series but had him more sympathetic towards the end and how he and Dorothy finally put their past behind them and still carried their love for one another on. The final scene where the Priest asks if anyone objects, you can see the melancholy in his face and the reality that he knows he must let go of Dorothy and allow her to be happy again. A very nice job by the writers especially here.

Yes, she was the absolute best, no matter what role she played! She always could deliver a punchline so perfectly, her entire career! Even better than Lucille Ball, who was also a great comedienne. I remember Betty's very first TV show when I was about 10 years old, called "Life with Elizabeth" which was also quite funny, and I have been a huge fan ever since then! How she managed to stay so young at heart, and so beautiful even into her nineties, was absolutely amazing to see!
