I would have to disagree. Certain family's do have storylines. Read the descriptions on the households. The Goth and The Landgrabs. Strangerville has a storyline , Jungle Adventure there is a story or quest.
@@heatherlove8845 right, but that’s as far as it goes. In the previous games, every household was given a storyline, that matched up with their actual lives. Such as relationships, traits, jobs, etc. I personally believe the sims 4 lacks in that area, which makes it so much harder to enjoy.

@@sabbiii yeah even like with the Calientes its Hinted that don lothario is dating all 3 of the Caliente women but if you play they are all just friends, the pancakes says that Bob and Eliza have a rocky relationship you play the game and they have a good relationship, also side note all the sims in the base game have the same amount of days until agreeing up except for the BFF household (Liberty Lee, Travis Scott, Summer Holiday) which age up a day before everybody else which probably means that they were the original sims, but also like make them age up at different times cuz if they dont they would all die at once lol
@Sydney Ramirez right, that’s what’s cool ab the sims, is making your own storylines. I’m just saying it gets quite frustrating to see gurus be particular about a storyline when they gave no effort into making any for the sims 4 :/
basically what we learned here today:
-simmers are generally good people and aren't going to sabotage each other for the *drama*
-simmers are generally socially anxious and don't do well w public speaking (like,, why do you think they made that career choice bruh)
-the sims 4 is horrible for creating story lines
this could have been so much better if they'd just made it a fun collaborative game instead of an excuse for execs to ridicule their fans

@@harrystyleslover1082 It's great when you can actually work your brain for a storyline. Think about the people who aren't too creative, they want a storyline to follow up, maybe a few premade progressions. Sure, the sims 4 have lore and all that as family bios, but when you enter the household do they have the said relationship status? What happed to the cheating with the Calientes and Don? What happened to the Pancakes' rocky relationship? They force you to make your own storyline with only the base game, which indeed is very boring anyone can admit that. There is no explore more for the storyline to get you hooked on it.
Why are the show developers torturing all these soft-hearted, anxiety-ridden introverts? Even the damn judges are crying, for God's sake!

dr103 I’ve been playing the Sims since Sims 1 was released when I was a teenager. If someone asked me if I wanted to be on a Sims game show, I would say, “Hell yes!” I don’t think I would take into consideration the fact that the goal of show developers is to cause dramatic, stressful situations, and they will use your weaknesses and illnesses against you.
I could probably deal with the stress of it happening to me, because I’m nearly 37 and have a lot of practice being stressed out and made fun of. I couldn’t, however, deal with watching the people around me have their mental illnesses exploited for sport.
It’s hilarious how they expect Sims players to be good at public speaking.
Haha I thought this too. Of course they're nervous about storytelling, there's a big difference between sitting and filming in front of a camera, being able to take as many takes as you want, and talking to an audience of people. Even Twitch, even though it's live, is a completely different experience from standing there in front of a crowd of people.
kerri so true. Especially since a lot of simmers that I know struggle or have struggled with some sort of social anxiety so it puts even more pressure on them.

They probably did okay (apart from Steph 😬). Without the dramatic music and cuts, the others all looked like they were doing well. I think the judges were just too harsh. Like at least laugh at their jokes (like when doc was doing the funny voices), no wonder they all feel nervous when you just stare at them awkwardly. Seriously tough crowd to please

Not really. The Sims 4 is perfect for setting up house and Sims. The story is mainly up to the player. The stories just weren’t good but they were 90 mins.
This made me really uncomfortable. The sims community is so wholesome and this forced everyone into roles that focused on drama.

It's seems like competition drama and backstabbing is a staple in American reality tv. If we watch other versions of reality tv from other countries, they are all supportive and never talk smack about their competition.

simguruninja has some NERVE for complaining about underdeveloped stories after giving simmers only 90 minutes to create a sim, build and create a storyline when EA townies don't even have the skills related to their career level. I also don't like how the show is edited all this youtubers are very nice people and to edit it like there's some drama going on between them doesn't sit right with me

100% AGREE! I feel like whoever made this show thinks mellow = boring and the Sims needs preposterous time limits to be an interesting game. When in fact that prevents the contestants from showing their skills and creating detailed, immersive, interesting worlds.
Anyone else think the premise is ridiculous and shows how disconnected the gurus actually are? 90 minutes to build, create sims, AND make a storyline? That’s not possible.
if they would give each line this amount of time, it still would be wrong. 90 minutes to build is not enough, not the three together, while you have teammates to work with, unbelievable
90 minutes on my own to just create a sim is hard enough let alone having two other people orbiting me and me needing to only take around 30 minutes. I honestly don’t think the “gurus” play their own game apart from when they are showing it off.
Also it’s no coincidence that none of the storytellers did well here, the fact that these super creative people really struggled to make a shallow storyline isn’t a good thing. It just shows the lack of depth in the Sims 4. Oh I also take a couple of days to come up with my story’s and they pop up at the most random times so 90 minutes isn’t enough to even make a story for me.
I think the description was too vague too for the challenges, especially the narration part. I know there is a lot we didn't see, but considering that the storytelling was considered the weak element, i doubt they got much direction. I feel like Dr. Gluon got jipped and I feel so bad for what his teammates said.

What’s even worse; they’re being belittled by judges that wouldn’t stand a chance against them in any of these challenges. Like, who do they think they are?
Ciaran it feels like none of the judges have ever even played the game with how little they know about the limitations. Many of the creators featured in the competition have been very open about their mental health and the judges should be ashamed of themselves for making them feel bad about their illness or disabilities
They made better houses, Sims, and storylines in an hour and a half than the sims team does for their paid packs😂

They're lucky this was filmed before ecoliving came out, otherwise the sims would constantly cancel actions to play with clay or future cubes or practice programming

kerri I swear they didn’t even play test that pack. I love it because of the concept and the pack overall but I can’t stand the bugs and glitches that came with this pack and the update.

It's really gross how they make the only teams with drama, the teams containing people of color, like seriously? Especially when the game is known for diversity. Also, the fact they are upset the teams couldn't make a good video in 5 hours?? The idea could have been fun and relaxing, and they just made it awful, dramatic, and stressful, while making perfectly nice people seem horrible.
What they could've done like other shows is give them multiple days (2 or more but for this particular one maybe 2-3) to do a project that requires a lot of time. There is still a time limit but would give out better, flushed out results.If the feedback is that it needs to be more flushed out from every team, it isn't the team's issue but a time limit issue

ikr? the pleasants are me my favorite family in the franchise, and not only did they cut out the parents, they removed all the tension from the twins' relationship. they totally gutted the conflict that drew me to them in ts2 in the first place.
The fact that she had to come out with 30 different skin tones to feel represented should be a wake up call for the sims team

The forced drama, the judges being overly harsh considering the time frame and the limitations of the game (because they weren’t using cc or mods), the ANTM type editing and trying to make villains out of participants.... yes it was that bad. It’s a good idea but it’s executed poorly.

All of the storyline is speculation. "Alexander Goth managed to create an alternate timeline where his mother disappeared" would be badass but only simmers talk about it the game never does
What defines someone as a “Pro Sims Player”? There’s literally no competitive elements in The Sims, there’s not even multiplayer in it
Pro is short for professional, which is defined by money made. You can be an amateur artist who paints for fun or a professional artist who paints for the sake of money, same thing with the sims. It doesn't' always have to line up with skill (e.g. I know great musicians who can't deal with the gig economy so their primary income is teaching instead). These are people who make a living by creating content about the sims.
I guess people who can make a living of playing it?

The only criticism i have here is that the judges, even simguruninja, clearly dobt understand the pressure being put on the storytellers. a lot of simmers are introverts and while yes they did sign up for this, being put on the spot with all eyes on you and a team counting on you is extremely stressful. yes they have a lot of followers who watch their videos, but its not live and they get to edit everything they put out. i just think the storytelling portion shouldnt have so much pressure put on it. especially in a game where there isnt much story to tell

@@veanell yeah but its a show tho, they still need money to pay their workers and to pay for the winner. They earn money from us the viewer. Shows will never got attention if they are lack of dramas or their drama are small. And they cant shine every contestant, cause as we know, theres a lot of people to shine, and they have limit of 45 minutes per episode and the 15minutes probably for commercial break. But next episode they will get to shine everyone because theres less people to focus with
lol at these judges thinking you make a "great storyline" without basemental drugs, mcc command centre, slice of life, wicked whims and the likes. lets be honest the sims 4 is very vanilla against the other sims franchise, which is nothing but the fault of the developers who wanted to bleed each "interesting addition" into a separate £40 extension pack each time

i would totally agree if you were talking about the sims 4's lack of lore and premade storylines. what i don't get is how this game is any less workable for new storylines than previous iterations or many of the mods you mentioned. I don't see how adding, say, sex (wicked whims), story progression that is amazing while playing but quite honestly not really needed in a machinima the way i see it (mccc) would make for an anymore better story. basemental stories are nice but lets be real here, quite honestly just very overdone. many of the folks using basemental for the same tragic junkie/alcoholic dad story have never dealt with drugs or alcoholism in their life anyway, so im only glad to see those storylines be taken out of the realm of possibility here.
everyone keeps stating how the sims 2 and the sims 3 would make for infinitely better storyline ideas. im curious to hear any examples of this. again, the premade storylines of the previous iterations are AMAZING and the sims 4 is nothing short of disappointingly lackluster compared to it, but i just do not see how that impacts players' ability to come up with their own storylines. there is SO much you can do with the sims 4 that many people don't even know about, because it just doesn't come up in them.
@@lovesFigaro the sims 4 just doesn’t feel as deep. I feel like all of the characters I make are always the same, and doing anything, like having kids is just annoying. The sims 3 for example, I would go on vacation, to the jungle meet someone, come home then do something else. In the sims 4 I have zero inclination to do anything past making a sim and decorating.

Maybe they struggled with story telling because of the lack of gameplay and spice in Sims 4.
Wish they were to give them some sort of advantage that let them download 2 mods of their choice that helped storytelling. Hopefully they do something like that in later episodes.

@Achmad Putra I think it's easy to create a story line but the game is so restricted that it's hard to fulfil that concept. It could just be me that likes family gameplay but sims 4 does not provide that sort of gameplay it's just very bland.

I think it says more about how little the people who produce this show, and perhaps EA, understand the game and the community.
Agreed, people who do that kind of thing are infuriating. I had a teacher back in college who told every single student that they were going to fail, because every student they had has failed. Maybe that says something about your teaching? Same situation here.

Gosh. "The storytelling was weak" because the contestants were given 90 minutes to create a sim, build a house a n d tell a story! That's crazy, would have taken me daaays. I won't be watching further, I just feel so uncomfortable for all of them.
there were a few reasons the storytelling was weak and I think the main part of that is because the storytelling in the game is terrible. they can only do so much with what they're given.
I think the judges should try to put themselves in the contestants of shoes then they would realize how impossible it is to build a house create as sim and make a story in 90 minutes
They should allocate one day for one session of competition. Like, even myself spend 2 hours for just creating a family only. And I think many of simmers out there who spend more than 90mins just to do one segment
I easily can take 90 minutes just to make a Sim lol and I can take normally take 5-12 hrs for a build. I hate time crunches like that. Im 8 minutes in and its already not holding my attention.

Honestly, this show sounded like a good idea initially and I was super excited to see how it was gonna go (especially because UrbanSims was on it!!) but I genuinely believe the execution was awful.. Most of them looked stressed when it should’ve been more of a fun thing. Maybe it’s just me. I think The Sims is about individuality so pairing three extremely different individuals together to make a story was a rough start.
Well sounding like a great idea yet having poor execution is the Sims 4 EA controlled way so they’re still on brand lol.
Ah yes... let’s gather a group of amazing and sweet people who have social anxiety who mostly shine when they are alone and make them team together on one single computer with a concept that would be better if each had their own computers. I love all of the creators. Hate the judges (the blonde was as actually less cruel and rude). Cool concept. shouldn’t have been as dramatic. lol maybe we shouldn’t have had bus feed run this. Oops.

I’ve never been madder than seeing XUrbansimsX cry. You can feel how anxious so many of them are, and the judges shouldn’t be so shocked when Plumbella was nice. This show doesn’t fit the Sims community and the show doesn’t feel well thought out or constructed.

@@avokiwicado8477 yeah swatches, but when all ur townies have the same 4 one piece styles to choose from it starts feeling repetitive. you can buy expansions to get more one piece styles, but that costs money and some people can only afford base game. as someone with access to a disposable income, and 1400 hours logged in the game, it would be nice to have more styles of both the two-piece options and the one-piece options. for example, we only have bikinis for two piece options. why not add tankinis? im not counting the two tank top options as a tankini because they wind up being cut more like one pieces than like a two piece swimsuit. there's so many options they could be adding, but they always go for very similar styles to what we already have.

I was really hoping this would be more chill and fun for the simmers, but instead they're put under immense pressure, penalized for having anxiety, and just not given a space where they can thrive. Also the 5 hours for all that is just unrealistic and I'm not sure the creators of the show know just how much work it takes to make some of the videos these simmers do. I'm really hoping after seeing some of the comments the show takes a turn for the better because it does have a lot of potential xc I just wanna see everyone participating having fun and getting competitive not stressed💜

If I showed this to a friend who doesn't play the sims, watching this wouldn't make them want to start playing. and they wouldn't keep watching. Poor editing, not all players were properly introduced, and we didn't get to see the builds in great detail! Also, no tension building whatsoever as time was running out. It was so disjointed and weird! Asking them to create a story in live mode is batshit. The sims 4 has no depth for storytelling like that and sims often don't do what you ask. None of this is the fault of the players, btw. I don't understand what this show is trying to achieve. Anyway I hope plumbella wins, she's a sweetheart

Dr Gluon did nothing wrong. He's inclusive. In a big community he tries his best to include as much ashe can and hear what everyone has to say. The man has the biggest heart and I have no doubt he probably asked for ideas and thoughts several times, got nothing, and they edited it out to make him look bad. His stories evolve over time as well, you can't get a proper full story from doc without much more time.

This was too formal, too stressful, and too time-crunched. Ease off a bit and maybe adjust the tone of the show to be a bit more light-hearted and fun. All of these simmers entertain thousands or millions of fans regularly while being positive and kind- let's bring utilize their energy.

Didnt amuse me. Im a fan of many of these youtubers, so most of the show just had me cringing. I hated seeing so many people ive grown to luv look so uncomfortable and upset while doing something they do EVERY DAY! Im use to seeing them with smiles on their faces and having fun! Who wants to play a game that stresses you out?! It was horrible to watch.

Yup this is so strange to watch. I feel as if I've entered a bizarro world lol. The Sims is just not a competitive game, at least not from my standpoint... And I think most people, regardless of their playstyle, like the Sims for its casual easy-going aspect. It's an escapism of sorts (whether you're watching them live out their awkward little mundane lives, or making them a powerful wizard or a vampire, or killing them off with pools lol). I'm afraid the real reason EA's pushing for that competitive, social aspect because they count on making TS5 some sort of an MMO. At least according to their CEO.

Her melanin packs and other CC make darker skin Sims a reality. The fact that her input was overlooked, considering her experiences dealing with the Sims and its community, speaks volumes.

I don't know about the anxiety levels of anyone other than Jesse, but I felt SO bad for her. I was watching her the whole time (that she was in the screen at least) because I relate so closely to her. I could pick up the anxiety cues that she was giving off and just :(
Jesse recently mentioned something happening to her that caused a LOT of anxiety, but it's not something that she wants to mention. I doubt it's this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this still contributed to her overall anxiety levels.
Seeing Steph and Jesse having the spotlight put on them made me so upset because I have autism like Jesse and anxiety like Steph and I really saw all the pressure and how uncomfortable they were.

It's funny simguruninja wanted more depth out of the simmers when 1) the time limits were ridiculously too short to do so AND 2) the Sims 4 game itself lacks depth. The feeling of irony was so strong that he was judging these simmers on the thing he hasn't been able to accomplish himself. Sims 4 gameplay is SO BLAND in comparison to Sims 2 and Sims 3!
I own all sims games (except for the first one) and I can confirm that I can spend HOURS playing ts3 or ts2 but the moment I exit CAS or build mode in ts4 it's just not fun.
