  • A video reminder that in the 1980's MARYLEBONE was the only London terminus that offered a regular service of steam-hauled excursions. The popularity of their weekend 'Shakespeare' trains to Stratford upon Avon persuaded operators to press for access for their steam-hauled trains to other stations such as Paddington and Victoria. The film features four locos that have not been seen on the mainline for some time.

I used to travel a lot by train in the 80s, mainly for pleasure. But can't afford it any more. It's too expensive nowadays.

Continues to operate railtour excursions. The most recent is 'The Chiltern Champion' earlier in 2014. 'The Marylebone Flyer' visited Marylebone in April 2013, a steam excursion that ran non stop from Birmingham, a testament to its heyday.

75069 is now back running on the Severn Valley Railway. Looks better in Black in my opinion. 34027 is also on Severn Valley.

Crazy world we are living in today? So many `heritage steam railways` nowadays that a really thriving. People even today still enjoy the scenic trip...rather than be despatched at lightning speed by our so called `modern` means of rail transport, where you virtually need a mortgage to pay for a ticket of any distance. No..bring back our steam trains..the people still are in love with them?? Great video by the way, really enjoyed...more please!
