  • Think America cant compete against China JUNK. Think again. MAGlite. We compare China vs. AMERICA. My personal though and my experience with this inferior brand. MAG lite has been around for decades and is an Icon in the flashlight industry. You don't always need to be the first on the block, Sometimes you have to get it right before you put out a product.

Not all China lights are bad. The Convoy S2+ is a great quality light with many different tints and high CRI Leds. Sofirn is another great brand, and a few others, Wurkkos, Thrunite and a few other are good. However, I like Maglite, had many for years, I guess I like diversity, so they are all good to me. If it works well, it's not wrong. Not anti American at all, just like options is all. I still believe that there should be more products made in USA, however I blame the huge companies for being sellouts for big profits. No more need be said.

Lol OLight left MagLite in the dust. They’ve actually been listening to customers and incorporated USB C rechargeable ports on their torches. Their customer service is great, and have been immediately responsive in any questions or concerns. Their warranty is amazing and offers free of charge shipping. Besides, MagLite doesn’t come close to lumen or candela output. I’ll stick with my OLight 😂

My Maglite fascination began as a kid in the early 80's when I saw My uncle Larry lugging around his red 3D mag. He was a carpenter and maintenance man for over 3 decades. I bought my first Mini-Mag as a cable guy in 2006, loved it and used it for several years. I have used a LED 2 C cell Maglite now for several years now as an EMT and love them that I bought two more to keep upstairs and downstairs! I keep it holstered on my belt. I tend to use my mini-mag led light holstered when I'm off work during downtime for "edc" for normal uses around the house and out and about. The batteries last for for a VERY longtime. My light is my best friend at work when being called out to the middle of no where or some old dark hoarders house with no lights on haha. I use EBL rechargeables and have been in a downpour of rain and dropped my light several times on concrete and the maglites just keeps going. I have the 4 D cell Led ML300L at my front door entry with the maglite mounts installed on the wall and simply love it! I also have converted two of my old incandescent 3 D cell mags to an LED bulb and keep those in my old truck and my daily car. Loved your video! Cheers from Houston!

Is this light sufficient to temporarily blind an intruder? Is there something better for that in that size? I like the light but don't know if it is sufficient lumens to stop an intruder. Thanks

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  Před rokem +1

BlackTreasureMap technically it would take 1000 lumens to blind a person. But that wont stop an intruder. If they have enter the home its not safe unless you and a weapon for defense. A light will startle and stop them for a moment. but that could lead to them attacking you. Tack light is just that. Its' in addition to a weapon for defensive tactual situations. I have this in my home for help if lights go out and for time when a light is needed but not a defensive situations. The MAG 4 D-cell lights are big and heavy, back in the day officers had them as part of the arsenal. They have many cases where it was used as a baton in a defensive situation. I have 4 of these bigger light around the house for that very reason. If need be they are a good mini bat. These small tach lights or great complement to a persons EDC or for hiking or just to keep on you for those needed accusations. hope this helps.

I started my profession with a 3-D cell Maglite. Then these brands such as Streamlight and Surefire came out and they were 1/3rd of the size and 3x as bright so I moved to them. Some of them have been fantastic and flawless, others have not, had two Streamlight Stirons crap out within a year, my Surefire is great but its not rechargeable and their rechargeables are $200-250+ for the quality models. Here I am a decade later finding myself back at MagLite and happy to see they’ve joined the tactical light bandwagon and everything Ive heard about the MagTac gives me high hopes this will be my final stop for flashlights for work. Great review also! Keep up the great work!

I had a 3rd Gen LED Maglite and a Mag Tac , both were good lights but I lent them out to family and they were lost.
I recently saw a cheap 15 dollar Lumagear D cell light, I went ahead and bought it but I do plan on buying an ML300L later in. I wouldn't want to rely on my cell phone light during an emergency. I've already had homeless going through my trash and they also left handprints on my vehicle as they were looking inside

I use my edc flashlight for every little thing, so when I had an Olight, the power button went out in less than a year. I had it fixed, but it died the same way again. I believe it was a Batton II. I switched to armytek, and it is a much better manufacturer and I really liked it, but they lie about where they are manufactured. When purchased, it can be shipped from the USA or directly from China 🤨 and it's supposedly a Canadian manufacturer. I have a problem funding communist countries, so my next light will definitely be a Maglite. 🇺🇸
I left my armytek in Japan. ☹️

The LED modules of the Maglites have a tendency to fail often and early. That is an indicator these are sourced from China. I thought the LED module was Cree but I am not sure.

Either terrible luck or old person bias. Owned many olights and currently use a marauder mini never had a problem with any of them. But stopped buying olight because of the proprietary batteries all their lights started to use. Still love Maglite and use them on the daily too. Incan Minimag candle mode is the best. If you haven’t been to the maglite site in a while they do still sell the Incan minimags and their replacement bulbs. Anyhoo my grandad grew up in the age where china made mostly cheap low quality products. So my grandad always swore he’d only buy American, Japanese, or German products. Even till the day he died he never knowingly bought anything made in china.

There are a number of decent quality flashlights made in China today and I have some but only because the options for American made flashlights are quite limited, conversely there aren't too many options for Chinese flashlight that fit my needs either.
I still really love Maglite and currently own 6 with another on the way, but for a small utilitarian EDC pocket flashlight Maglite just doesn't make a light that fits my needs so I go with Lumintop for this.
For me Maglite is the king of home garage glovebox and toolbox flashlights.
I don't care if they're big ( I like the hard to loose size ) or if the reflectors are antiquated with a cruder light beam.
Their lights are reliable, the user interface is simple, the intensity of the light is fairly high, and they are plenty bright overall.
They fall behind in a couple areas, but are simple and reliable, and overall they just plain get the job done.

Maglites are the only flashlights I'll ever buy. A local hardware store that I'd buy them from can't order them any more because the wholesaler now has discontinued almost all American made products and only distributes flashlights made in Red China. It has gotten to be so bad that the only was to buy American made tools is to order off the internet.

Is that the only light you've owned from them? That's litteraly the only light they litteraly failed hard on lmao.... I've never had a olight fail and I live in northern Canada and use my lights so hard Hahaha... The m2r warrior was wayyyyyy better... I own light from almost any company and every company has fails 🤷 so does maglight Hahaha... Some of my olights are 15yrs old and still ticking... Old maglight are trash these days.. And you have to admit that they have no power litteraly... And there are far better brands then maglite... Streamlight, klarus, surefire ect... You can also spend way more and get REAL lights and go custom ;)..
Tbh the light you should have looked at was the olight I5t period has the same power as the mag, u can use AA batteries or the rechargeable, has a tail switch, two modes super simple, fully waterproof ect the list goes on.. I've bought at least over 20 of these lights for friends ect and I have never even heard of a problem from this little ones... Not only that far cheaper ;) I know you'll never return cuz u got a bad taste in your mouth but it's way better 🤷... Yea their customer service sucks but u also have to realize the language barrier is extremely bad. And yes they are salesman's.. China isn't always crap u guys gotta stop saying that 🤦🤦 where was your tv made? And pc? Phone? All that stuff....... Oh and alot of the olights u can get in different light temps soft or bright u have a soft white that's what that light was lol..... U should really try a I5t I bet u you would like it lol.
Who knows how long those maglite will last ;) old ones lasted lkng because it was simple tech! The magtac is getting into a different more tricky tech 😎 good vid but sucks u tried a shit light from them
